Black Stone Tramp
Brother sounds like a male version of the Corrs, mixing a pop sensibility with the traditional sounds of their native land--in Brother's case, Australia. With bagpipes and didgeridoo in hand, Angus and Hamish Richardson lead a four-piece band in songs of romantic love and yearning. "The Clumsy Lover" spins a spunky dance of bagpipes, didgeridoo, and fat groove that casts an infectious spell. "All I Know" and "Take You Back" walk a thin line between catchy romantic pop song and maudlin metal ballad. Overall, Brother's inventive blend is admirable. What isn't is their loose songwriting that sometimes features repetitious melodies and riffs. Granted, the mixture of bagpipes and blaring drum kit is interesting, but becomes outright enchanting when Brother travels to several diverse places in one song. --Karen Karleski

False Awakening
Hank is an aspiring actor suffering from frequent false awakenings; only someone else is in control during these dreams. Director Dustin Yoder and writer Benjamin Watts explore the possibility of creating a multiple personality subconsciously but purposefully, rather than by a defense mechanism from a traumatic experience. Hank's role as a psychopath over a year ago has never let him go. As with most, Hank has always kept his darkest desires to himself. Only now those compulsions are their own entity and Hank is beginning to realize just what a threat this other half is becoming. Yoder skillfully navigates us through the layers that make up our subconscious as it invades our consciousness, propelling us through a labyrinth of one mans happy life and his darkest dreams. Who is in control when the nightmare is awake?

Resolved Question: Are automotive editors misinforming the public regarding the quality level of American vehicles?
Below, is an actual letter to the editor of a local newspaper in response to the editor's obvious biased views on American vehicles in general.
Editor:
As I watch the coverage of the fate of the U.S. auto industry, one alarming and frustrating fact hits me right between the eyes. The fate of our nation's economic survival is in the hands of some congressmen who are completely out of touch and act without knowledge of an industry that affects almost every pe rson in our nation. The same lack of knowledge is shared with many journalists whom are irresponsible when influencing the opinion of millions of viewers.
Sen. Rich ard Shelby of Alabama has doomed the industry, calling it a dinosaur. No Mr. Shelby, you are the dinosaur, with ideas stuck in the '70s, '80s and '90s. You and the uninformed journalist and senators that hold onto myths that are not relevant in today's world.
When you say that the Big Three build vehicles nobody wants to buy, you must have overlooked that GM outsold Toyota by about 1.2 million vehicles in the U.S. and Ford outsold Honda by 850,000 and Nissan by 1.2 million in the U.S. GM was the world's No. 1 automaker beating Toyota by 3,000 units.
When you claim inferior quality comes from the Big Three, did you realize that Chevy makes the Malibu and Ford makes the Fusion that were both rated over the Camry and Accord by J.D. Power independent survey on initial quality? Did you bother to read the Consumer Report that rated Ford on par with good Japanese automakers.
Did you realize Big Three's gas guzzlers include the 33 mpg Malibu that beats the Accord. And for '09 Ford introduces the Hybrid Fusion whose 39 mpg is the best midsize, beating the Camry Hybrid. Ford's Focus beats the Corolla and Chevy's Cobalt beats the Civic.
When you ask how many times are we going to bail them out you must be referring to 1980. The only Big Three bailout was Chrysler, who paid back $1 billion, plus interest. GM and Ford have never received government aid.
When you criticize the Big Three for building so many pickups, surely you've noticed the attempts Toyota and Nissan have made spending billions to try to get a piece of that pie. Perhaps it bothers you that for 31 straight years Ford's F-Series has been the best selling vehicle. Ford and GM have dominated this market and when you see the new '09 F-150 you'll agree this won't change soon.
Did you realize that both GM and Ford offer more hybrid models than Nissan or Honda. Between 2005 and 2007, Ford alone has invested more than $22 billio n in research and development of technologies such as Eco Boost, flex fuel, clean diesel, hybrids, plug in hybrids and hydrogen cars.
It's 2008 and the quality of the vehicles coming out of Detroit are once again the best in the world.
Perhaps Sen. Shelby isn't really that blind. Maybe he realizes the quality shift to American. Maybe it's the fact that his state of Alabama has given so much to land factories from Honda, Hyundai and Mercedes Benz that he is more concerned about their continued growth than he is about the people of our country. Sen. Shelby's disdain for "government subsidies" is very hypocritical. In the early '90s he was the driving force behind a $253 million incentive package to Mercedes. Pl us, Alabama agreed to purchase 2,500 vehicles from Mercedes. While the bridge loan the Big Three is requesting will be paid back, Alabama 's $180,000-plus per job was pure incentive. Sen. Shelby, not only are you out of touch, you are a self-serving hypocrite, who is prepared to ruin our nation because of lack of knowledge and lack of due diligence in making your opinions and decisions.
After 9/11, the Detroit Three and Harley Davidson gave $40 million-plus emergency vehicles to the recovery efforts. What was given to the 9/11 relief effort by the Asian and European Auto Manufactures? $0 Nada. Zip!
We live in a world of free trade, world economy and we have not been able to produce products as cost efficiently. While the gov ernments of other auto producing nations subsidize their automakers, our government may be ready to force its demise. While our automakers have paid union wages, benefits and legacy debt, our Asian competitors employ cheap labor. We are at an extreme disadvantage in production cost. Although many UAW concessions begin in 2010, many lawmakers think it's not enough.
Some point the blame to corporate management. I would like to speak of Ford Motor Co. The company has streamlined by reducing our workforce by 51,000 since 2005, closing 17 plants and cutting expenses. Product and future product is excellent and the company is focused on one Ford. This is a company poised for success. Ford product quality and corporate management have improved light years since the nightmare of Jacques Nasser. Thank you Alan Mulally and the best auto company management team in the business.
The financial collapse caused by the secondary mortgage fiasco and the greed of Wall Street has led to a $700 billion bailout of the industry that created the problem. AIG spent nearly $1 million on three company excursions to lavish resorts and hunting destinations. Paulson is saying no to $250 billion foreclosure relief and the whole thing is a mess. So when the Big Three ask for 4 percent of that of the $700 billion, $25 billion to save the country's largest industry, there is obviously oppositions. But does it make sense to reward the culprits of the problem with $700 billion unconditionally, and ignore the victims?
As a Ford dealer, I feel our portion of the $25 billion will never be touched an d is not necessary. Ford currently has $29 billion of liquidity. However, the effect of a bankruptcy by GM will hurt the suppliers we all do business with. A Chapter 11 bankruptcy by any manufacture would cost retirees their health care and retirements. Chances are GM would recover from Chapter 11 with a better business plan with much less expense. So who foots the bill if GM or all three go Chapter 11? All that extra health care, unemployment, loss of tax base and some forgiven debt goes back to the taxpayer, us. With no chance of repayment, this would be much worse than a loan with the intent of repayment.
So while it is debatable whether a loan or Chapter 11 is better for the Big Three, a $25 billion loan is definitely better for the taxpayers and the economy of our country.
So I'll end where I began on the quality of the products of Detroit . Before you, Mr. or Ms. Journalist continue to misinform the American public and turn them against one of the great industries that helped build this nation, I must ask you one question. Before you, Mr. or Madam Congressman vote to end health care and retirement benefits for 1 million retirees, eliminate 2.5 million of our nation's jobs, lose the technology that will lead us in the future and create an economic disaster including hundreds of billions of tax dollars lost, I ask this question not in the rhetorical sense. I ask it in the sincere, literal way. Can you tell me, have you driven a Ford lately?

Resolved Question: Can you name four or more myths about the American auto industry?
Here are a few misconceptions, cleared up.
You can read Albom?s column at www.freep.com/article/20081123/COL01/811...
Detroit Free Press Exposes Six Myths About Domestic Automakers
The November 17, 2008, issue of the Detroit Free Press ran an interesting article about six domestic automaker myths that linger in the minds of consumers:
?The debate over aid to the Detroit-based automakers is awash with half-truths and misrepresentations that are endlessly repeated by everyone from members of Congress to journalists. Here are six myths about the companies and their vehicles, and the reality in each case.
Myth 1: Nobody buys their vehicles.
Reality:
General Motors, Ford and Chrysler sold 8.5 million vehicles in the United States last year and millions more around the world.
GM outsold Toyota by about 1.2 million vehicles in the United States last year and holds a U.S. lead over Toyota of about 650,000 so far this year.
Globally, GM in 2007 remained the world?s largest automaker, selling 9,369,524 vehicles worldwide -- about 3,000 more than Toyota.
Myth 2: They build unreliable junk.
Reality:
The independent J.D. Power Initial Quality Study scored Buick, Cadillac, Chevrolet, Ford, GMC, Mercury, Pontiac and Lincoln brands? overall quality as high or higher than that of Acura, Audi, BMW, Honda, Nissan, Scion, Volkswagen and Volvo.
Power rated the Chevrolet Malibu the highest-quality midsize sedan. Both the Malibu and Ford Fusion scored better than the Honda Accord and Toyota Camry.
Myth 3: They build gas-guzzlers.
Reality:
All of the Detroit Three build midsize sedans the Environmental Protection Agency rates at 29-33 miles per gallon on the highway.
The most fuel-efficient Chevrolet Malibu gets 33 mpg on the highway, 2 mpg better than the best Honda Accord.
The most fuel-efficient Chevrolet Cobalt has the same city fuel economy and better highway fuel economy than the most efficient non-hybrid Honda Civic.
Myth 4: They already got a $25-billion bailout.
Reality:
None of that money has been lent out and may not be for more than a year. In addition, it can, by law, be used only to invest in future vehicles and technology, so it has no effect on the shortage of operating cash the companies face because of the economic slowdown that?s killing them now.
Myth 5: GM, Ford and Chrysler are idiots for investing in pickups and SUVs.
Reality:
The domestic companies? lineup has been truck-heavy, but Toyota, Nissan, Mercedes-Benz and BMW have all spent billions of dollars on pickups and SUVs because trucks are a large and historically profitable part of the auto industry.
The most fuel-efficient full-size pickups from GM, Ford and Chrysler all have higher EPA fuel economy ratings than Toyota and Nissan?s full-size pickups.
Myth 6: They don?t build hybrids.
Reality:
The Detroit Three got into the hybrid business late, but Ford and GM each now offers more hybrid models than Honda or Nissan, with several more due to hit the road in early 2009.
This info was excerpted from a much longer email that is too big for AY.com Peace.

Resolved Question: Do you have questions about the big 3 auto makers?
The debate over aid to the Detroit-based automakers is awash with half-truths and misrepresentations that are endlessly repeated by everyone from members of Congress to journalists. Here are six myths about the companies and their vehicles, and the reality in each case.
Myth No. 1
Nobody buys their vehicles.
Reality
General Motors Corp., Ford Motor Co. and Chrysler LLC sold 8.5 million vehicles in the United States last year and millions more around the world. GM outsold Toyota by about 1.2 million vehicles in the United States last year and holds a U.S. lead over Toyota of about 560,000 so far this year. Globally, GM in 2007 remained the world's largest automaker, selling 9,369,524 vehicles worldwide -- about 3,000 more than Toyota.
Ford outsold Honda by about 850,000 and Nissan by more than 1.3 million vehicles in the United States last year.
Chrysler sold more vehicles here than Nissan and Hyundai combined in 2007 and so far this year.
Myth No. 2
They build unreliable junk.
Reality
The creaky, leaky vehicles of the 1980s and '90s are long gone. Consumer Reports recently found that "Ford's reliability is now on par with good Japanese automakers." The independent J.D. Power Initial Quality Study scored Buick, Cadillac, Chevrolet, Ford, GMC, Mercury, Pontiac and Lincoln brands' overall quality as high or higher than that of Acura, Audi, BMW, Honda, Nissan, Scion, Volkswagen and Volvo.
Power rated the Chevrolet Malibu the highest-quality midsize sedan. Both the Malibu and Ford Fusion scored better than the Honda Accord and Toyota Camry.
Myth No. 3
They build gas-guzzlers.
Reality
All of the Detroit Three build midsize sedans the Environmental Protection Agency rates at 29-33 miles per gallon on the highway. The most fuel-efficient Chevrolet Malibu gets 33 m.p.g. on the highway, 2 m.p.g. better than the best Honda Accord. The most fuel-efficient Ford Focus has the same highway fuel economy ratings as the most efficient Toyota Corolla. The most fuel-efficient Chevrolet Cobalt has the same city fuel economy and better highway fuel economy than the most efficient non-hybrid Honda Civic. A recent study by Edmunds.com found that the Chevrolet Aveo subcompact is the least expensive car to buy and operate.
Myth No. 4
They already got a $25-billion bailout.
Reality
None of that money has been lent out and may not be for more than a year. In addition, it can, by law, be used only to invest in future vehicles and technology, so it has no effect on the shortage of operating cash the companies face because of the economic slowdown that's killing them now.
Myth No. 5

Reality

The most fuel-efficient full-size pickups from GM, Ford and Chrysler all have higher EPA fuel economy ratings than Toyota and Nissan's full-size pickups.

People working for the foreign car makers,ie: Honda, Camry,Toyota etc.. in Canada and the United States makes the same wage as those working for the big 3 automakers.
60% of parts made for foreign cars are made in the same factory that also supplies the big 3. if the big 3 go down so will the part companys.
The foriegn automakers are struggling too, Toyato has asked and recieved help from the Japanese goverment, the european goverment have also given money to their auto sector.
The many problem is that the Foreign market is not opened to North American investement. they can flood our market but we are not allowed into their market.
As for the greed of the union workers, why are they being blamed for making a decent wage, they have given up so much already. In Canada alone the CAW has given concessions that will save $900 million dollars over the next 3 years. They are working longer hours, have given up benifits and get laid off for weeks when it's not going good. But the bosses still get huge bonuses they should be asked to get their salaries but no bonuses until the auto sector is back on it's feet.
I haven't heard of any bank tellers being asked to take a cut in pay for the banks bail out. and I wouldn't want them too.

Resolved Question: Steadicam/Back Problems Question?
I recently got offered a part time job as a videographer for an independent company. This is a great opportunity for me. However it requires me to use a Steadicam, which is about 40ish lbs in all (with the camera on it and all)...
I had a spinal fusion for scoliosis in my lower lumbar when I was around 14, then when I was 21 I broke my back in the mid-area (T-10 or 11 for those of you who know biological specifics).
I know people with back problems should be careful opperating a steadicam, but I consider myself healthy. I do yoga and other simular things to maintain my health and strength.
I really wanna give it a shot! Should this be safe? I am 24, young female in decent health... I work out, eat well, have had back problems in the past but I think I can do it...

Resolved Question: No-one contacted me on my birthday, I dont have friends and cant connect.?
It was my 20th birthday the other day and no-one contacted me, thats 1 down from the 1 person who contacted me last year. Its a bit depressing because I cant really connect with people.
I like strange and philosophical short novels, jazz fusion and progressive music. I dont drink and smoke. And i dont enjoy bars or clubs. I play classical guitar songs and love the old steamworks movies. Most modern comedies I find incredibly boring and I wonder what is funny about them. I like alot of "b side" movies, independent films and 1970s films.
Im 20 and work as an engineer for a company where I dont really get along with anyone (which is ok since most of the work is by myself drving long distances).
I find it hard to agree with alot of people (opinion and view wise I have alot of "alternative" ideas),
btw, I dont want to meet people "half way". Why would I do something boring? Its just selling yourself out and making yourself hollow if you give in and do what everyone else is doing
When I mean I wont meet half way, I dont mean I wont try anything new, but im not going to go say "shopping" or "clubbing" or "to the footy" (you get the idea) with people because to me thats plain boring and it is mostly a bunch of mindless people doing the exact thing I dont want to do.
But im always open to new things

Resolved Question: Is it possible to get enough ENERGY from Fusion that humans could create their own matter??
Okay so after looking at Einstein's formula here in the example below. It would take I assume and tell me if I am wrong. 9 times 10 to the 16th joules of energy to create one killogram or 2.2 pounds of matter. Calculating the math out this would be 215,311,004,784,688 Kcals of energy. There are about 4180 joules to a Kcal about. SO KNOWING THIS IF I AM RIGHT Could IF WE COULD CONTROL FUSION which we can't yet but if we could control it is it possible to start making matter? How much energy does the sun realease? Also I think I get the fomula but HOW does this happen how does energy turn to matter and where is it happening in the universe? Peace!!!
Einstein used the CGS system of units (centimeters, grams, seconds, dynes, and ergs), but the formula is independent of the system of units. In natural units, the speed of light is defined to equal 1, and the formula expresses an identity: E = m. In the SI system (expressing the ratio E / m in joules per kilogram using the value of c in meters per second):
E / m = c^2 = (299,792,458 m/s)2 = 89,875,517,873,681,764 J/kg (?9.0 × 10^16 joules per kilogram)

Resolved Question: I need some new good music. If I like your selection, I"ll give you 10 points?
I'm really into independent bands (indie bands) so, no mainstream music please.
What are some good bands that you know of? I'm also looking for bands with indian fusion/influence in them. Example: Indus Creed.

Voting Question: Enthalpy and Energy of ice.?
Here is my problem and I cannot for the life of me figure it out:
A sample of ice weighing 19.01 g, initially at -46.1°C, is heated to 140.0°C at a constant pressure of 1.00 atm. Calculate q, w, E, H, and S for this process. The molar heat capacities (Cp) for solid, liquid, and gaseous water (37.5 J K-1 mol-1, 75.3 J K-1 mol-1, and 36.4 J K-1 mol-1) respectively-are assumed to be temperature independent. The enthalpies of fusion and vaporization are 6.01 kJ/mol and 40.7 kJ/mol, respectively. Assume ideal gas behavior.
those are ?H ?S and ?E.

Resolved Question: Why are we so concerned with greenhouse gasses?
The math is in and independent research shows greenhouse gasses (euphymism for CO2) are not a cause of global warming but a result of it. Even Gore's idiotic chart proves it if you look close enough.
Isn't the most likely cause of a slight rise in temperature (as well as indicated on Mars) the fact that we orbit around a huge self-sustaining fusion reaction called the Sun and that slight temperature fluctuations in that body would ultimately register here?
Jack-98 is 100% correct. The error in my argument is to assume there is an effort to rely on facts and observable data to foist Global Warming Bullsh*t on America. It is, indeed, a backdoor for leftwing anticapitalist redistribution of wealth.
