Voting Question: Would you read this story?
Just something I'm working on and would like to get some feedback.I've not wrote a story in ages and I'm just kinda toying with it so please try to be easy on me even if it stinks:) And this is just a rough draft so exuse the grammer and punctuation. The gaps are where I haven't decided on names.Ok so here's the beginning. I yawned as I stretched. I still felt achy and tired which was the normal for me. I hadn?t slept well since-well forever it seemed. My dreams are plagued with the same nightmarish images. I felt the familiar sadness inside, the deep dull ache. I sighed and sat up. There was only one window in the room and with the way the sun was shining around the pale floral curtains I figured it was around nine. I sat up and looked at the nightstand to my right where a small lamp and digital clock occupied space. 9:15 the clock read. I looked to my left. There was another nightstand with the same small lamp and against the wall was a dark stained chest of drawers and a small upholstered chair. Directly in front of me was a matching dresser with no mirror. I was grateful for that unfortunately there was a full length mirror in the right corner. I didn?t enjoy viewing myself in the mirror not that I had so much before. The room had aged white panel wall and dark hardwood floor with a small floral rug that matched the curtains. A few pictures dotted the walls. I could tell the room had not been used in awhile. It had a musty smell, not unpleasant, mixed with a new fabric smell. My aunt had bought new bedding and curtains prior to my arrival. I had asked her not to make a big deal of my coming. I was grateful she didn?t go overboard. I slid out of bed and gathered some clothes and headed to the bathroom across the hall. I wasn?t looking forward to seeing the thin, pale white woman with sunken cheeks and dull blueish eyes. After I showered I brushed my dark hair into a large barrette at the base of my neck. Even my hair was dull and lifeless so there wasn?t much I felt I could do with it. I didn?t feel the need to dress up so pulled on a simple cotton dress and my favorite sandals. I went back to my room and considered unpacking my things but I figured I could do it after breakfast. I sighed once more and headed downstairs. The smell of coffee mingled with the smell of eggs and bacon and met me before I could reach the bottom of the stairs. I paused and straightened my posture and tried to look less pathetic than I felt. I wasn?t sure that I would be fooling my mother?s only sister. My aunt was very observant and could be outspoken at times. I knew in the conversations I?d had with her she?d been holding herself back. I was grateful and hoped she?d restrain herself this morning. She was sitting at the table when I entered the kitchen. ?Good morning? she greeted me getting up from the table,? Would you like some coffee?? ?Morning Aunt __________? as far as I was concerned there wasn?t going to much good to this morning, ?Coffee sounds good.? She handed me a cup from the cabinet. As I poured me a cup as she scooped eggs onto a plate with a few stripes of bacon and sat it on the table. ?You shouldn?t have cooked.? I said as I sat down to the plate. ?Nonsense, ?she said handing me a fork, ?You need to eat. You?re too thin.?I wondered if she decided to stop holding back. I put a bite of eggs into my mouth and chewed quietly. She was partially right I had lost 20 lbs over the past 2 years. I didn?t have much appetite and food only barely tasted good to me. I looked around the small kitchen. The walls were the same panel as my bedroom except they were painted a pale blue. The cabinets had been painted an off white probably in an attempt to update them. ?Not much has changed since you last time you visited. How long has it been since you?ve been here?? she asked assessing me with her eyes.?5-6 years?? ?Something like that.? I answered. The last time I had been here was for my uncle?s funeral. I felt a sharper stab of sadness at the memory but not for the loss of my uncle but for an even greater loss. I took a sip of coffee to moisten my sudden dry mouth. ?Well I?m glad you?re here. I don?t get much company around here except for ___________.? ?___________________??I asked surprised and confused. I wasn?t aware anyone else lived here. ?You know the Fosters? boy."She said figuring I?d remember. I didn?t." I?ve known him and his family ever since I?ve lived here. I hired him to tend the farm after your uncle passed. I couldn?t bear to sell off the animals; your uncle loved them so much. So I let him tend to the farm and reap any profit it makes. He lives in a cabin on some land I sold him across the field there.? She motioned to the large field of young corn growing. ?Oh.? I said taking a bite of bacon and relieved that no one else but us would be living under the same roof. I hadn?t been very good at being social and now living with my aunt was going to be enough for me to deal with. Yep it's in my own words. This is the beginning and I'm working up to the backstory as to why this woman in so sad and what happens after.... Oh and I have the idea for the back story I just haven't written it yet. This beginning is unfinished. (more...)

Voting Question: What do you think of this letter?
I'm 16 and i wrote this in my mothers persective of her husband... well now ex. She loved him with her life and her treated her horribly. please tell me what you think Dear babe, Today has been long, and I?ve been thinking. The ocean seems so long yet we seemed to find a way to cross it. The sun is so hot yet we know its temperature. We can measure anything in the world but love. Love is its own measurement. Miracles may not be wishing on a star or a genie in a lamp, but it is waking up everyday. It is knowing my life is worth something and I?m getting somewhere in it. These days, weeks, years, all have something rememberable in them and that?s you. Who cares how hot the sun is, when it?s you that makes it shine. Who cares if wishes come true, when you?re my miracle. My world, my heart, my life all revolve around you. When you left the first time, my sun dimmed. The second time, my blood went cold. The third, it hurt every time my heart beat. Now that your back, I?m too afraid to loose you. I can?t look at you with out crying. I try not to think about you but you always find me in my dreams. Why can?t you understand every time you look at me like you do, it stabs my heart over and over again. Each time you hold me I hope it will heal but knowing it never will. I LOVE YOU but I?m just an anti depressance for you, I?m your drug and your addicted. You will never love me like you once did, like that time at the beach or the times at the park. They are now faded memories and we?re both disappearing. I?ve let you go three times and you?ve always come back, but does that mean we?re meant to be? I wish I could move on like you have but I?ve made you my life and without you I have nothing. Being without you is like trying to breathe under water? impossible and life taking. I?m doing great in school, I have my dream job, and the best friends I could ask for. So why am I not happy? Money can?t buy happiness, money can?t buy love. Everyone looks at me and doesn?t see past my smile, they don?t see the pain. They don?t see what I can hide. I?m dying. Slowly and painfully. So now this leads to the question I?ve been asking all along, the question I?ve been thinking about since we met? do I leave and try to move on, or do I stay and hope you don?t leave? I wish you could understand what you do to me, and how much I truly do love you. Until then I will wait and wonder? should I die now or later? With all my life, Iris Imri <3 (more...)

Resolved Question: How is this essay so far? Someone please help in desperate need of help.?
DOES WHAT I WROTE SO FAR CAPTURE "A MOMENT IN BEING" Like every other day I woke up blurry eyed, and worn out. Squinting my eyes I saw it was as usual five thirty, and I thought to myself was there ever a day in my life when I didn?t wake up at this time, it seems so conventional. That was when I remembered I?ve been waking up at five thirty with blurry eyes, and worn out since elementary school. Nothing has changed. I glanced out the window on my way to the bathroom, and saw that the sky was still dark but some light was peeking trough. This of course was coming from a lamp pole outside. The light casting a dark shadow on the building aside from it. Looked like a distorted black shape that a painter created on the spot, without even thinking just creating. Reminding me of a time when I was nine years old in art class making snow flakes. Cutting different shapes, that didn?t look much like any shape. Just cutting shapes on paper then opening it up and thinking it was a masterpiece. IF NOT HOW CAN I MAKE IT SO IT'S MORE INSIGHTFUL, CREATIVE AND CAPTURES MY MEMORY. THANK YOU SO MUCH I HAD NO IDEA WHAT I SHOULD WRITE ABOUT SO I DONT WANT TO GO ON IF IT DOESN'T REALLY SHOW HOW MY EVERYDAY EXPERIENCE REMINDS ME OF MY CHILDHOOD. (more...)

Resolved Question: i don't think theres anything wrong with me, why does everyone else?
one of my first memories is a shadow of another little child walking across an empty room, the shadow wasn't attached to anything. as a child i was very aware of "shadow people" and when i would tell my mother she just thought they were imaginary. when i was about 13 my step sister and i both witnessed a shadow with no body attached walking down our stairs. My step sister is no longer in contact with my family. my biological sister herd them too, she has passed away. we used to listen to them whisper unrecognizable words behind closed doors, and my mother just thought we were making up stories. i am 19 and i see them, they open my door and colored outlines of people spend time in my door ways. they turn off the lights when i'm showering and now i'm scared of the dark. they pound on doors and windows in the house late at night i once thought someone broke into our house because i herd people running around up stairs at 4am. My parents blamed me for the noise. they open cabinets and move things around, they took the light bulbs out of every lamp in our house, even the hanging one which is at least 15' and flipped all our pictures upside down. once my family and i were watching t.v and the t.v turned off, when i checked the wires it wasn't even plugged into the wall, i plugged it back in and it was the same show we were watching. my mother didn't believe me. she thinks i'm the one destroying the house. My shrink says i'm paranoid and have an overactive imagination and would like to put me on something like prolixin, he also suggested in-patient therapy he keeps referring to it as "in cases like yours" i know he thinks i'm crazy even though he says he doesn't and he says its treatable and its up to me. what do you think i should do? my house isn't old and i've lived in several different houses since i was young (more...)

Voting Question: Men and Women jokes!?
Men are like placemats. They only show up when there's food on the table. Men are like mascara. They usually run at the first sign of emotion. Men are like bike helmets. The good ones are taken, and the rest are handicapped. Men are like copiers. You need them for reproduction, but that's about it. Men are like lava lamps. Fun to look at, but not very bright. Men are like bank accounts. Without a lot of money, they don't generate much interest. Men are like high heels. They're easy to walk on once you get the hang of it. Men are like curling irons. They're always hot, and they're always in your hair. Men are like mini skirts. If you're not careful, they'll creep up your legs. ******************************************************* How many men does it take to open a beer? - None. It should be opened by the time she brings it. Why do women have smaller feet than men? - It allows them to stand closer to the sink. How do you know when a woman is about to say something smart? - She starts her sentence with "A man once told me..." How do you fix a woman's watch? - It doesn't matter. There is a clock on the oven. Why do men break wind more than women? - Because women can't shut up long enough to build up the pressure. If your dog is barking at the back door and your wife is yelling at the front door, who do you let in first? - The dog. He'll shut up once you let him in. What's worse than a Male Chauvinist Pig? - A woman that won't do what she's told. I married Miss Right. - I just didn't know her first name was Always. I haven't spoken to my wife for 18 months! - I don't like to interrupt her. Scientists have discovered a food that diminishes a woman's sex drive by up to 90%. - It's called wedding cake. Marriage is a three ring circus: - Engagement ring, wedding ring, suffering. My wife asked me "What's on the TV?" - I said, "Dust!" In the beginning, God created the earth and rested. Then God created Man and rested. Then God created Woman. - Since then, neither God nor Man has rested. Why do men die before their wives? - They want to. A man inserted an advertisement in the classifieds section with the heading "Wife Wanted." - The next day he received a hundred letters saying "You can have mine." ********************************************************************* 1. To be happy with a man you must understand him a lot & love him a little. To be happy with a woman you must love her a lot & not try to understand her at all. 5. Married men live longer than single men - but married men are a lot more willing to die. 6. Any married man should forget his mistakes - there's no use in two people remembering the same thing. 7. Men wake up as good-looking as they went to bed. Women somehow deteriorate during the night. 8. A woman marries a man expecting he will change, but he doesn't. A man marries a woman expecting that she won't change & she does. 9. A woman has the last word in any argument. Anything a man says after that is the beginning of a new argument. 10. Resolved Question: What Do You Think Of My Story?
Its not really a story its actually a macabre which I didn't do very well. But on the writing itself what do you think? I'm 15 Her name was Lucy, sweet young Lucy She was 17 year old when everything ended. She lay in bed trying to fall sleep. Everything was quite, until the door creaked down the hall. Lucy thought back on the days when Lily was 7 when she considered herself an adult. She would wear her mothers high heels and call herself a, ?grown up.? She?d come home from school and brag about knowing what, ?8 times 6 equals 48? Lucy thought of the day when her family went to the ocean, crabs dancing on the sand. Her sister was twirling in the waves. The water was murky and brown but it was part of earth, still beautiful Her two missing teeth were showing. Her eyes were sparkling to the glimmering sun. Lucy ran to her sister throwing her arms around her. She valued every moment of life unlike most can guarantee to wake up the next morning, Lucy couldn?t. She heard the floorboards creak against boots, that sounded like dumbbells. She was not sure if she was still conscious or not or if this was just all a dream. Her mind trailed of to a summer night. Lucy and her sister sat under the twinkling stars and a firefly flew across the sky, like tiny light bulbs. Her sister started to rain tears down her rosy cheeks. Her sister, Lily was somebody where everything she said, was as if it were written on her face. It made her so innocent, to me she was my angel. She looked up at me with beaming eyes, that instantly turned into aching sadness. ?Lucy, mom told me that you are getting sick and?you might leave us? Her sister started to choke on her own sobs. Looking into Lily?s heart breaking eyes Lucy felt crushed. Lucy brushed her hair pushing it behind her ear. ?You see that star? Lucy pointed to the shiniest star perfectly above the full moon. ?It is true I might not be here physically but I will always be watching you through that star? ?Watching me?? Her sister asked. ?Yes, watching you grow to be a beautiful, strong, and smart girl? ?Don?t ever forget that I?m here? They fell asleep above the stars only hearing the echoes of the wind and rustling bushes. She felt like she had won a million dollars to just lay under the stars. She never felt that life was every moment was precious and better then the last. She had never valued life as much as she did. Then, she heard something like a lamp smash to the floor and a door squeaking shut. I finally thought of the day, just a week ago Lucy and her sister went to the Carnival. Clowns were making balloons and children were running up and down with cotton candy. She pulled her sister to a willow tree away from the dizziness. Lucy held Lily?s hands in hers. Lucy felt like she was a giant, holding a baby?s hand. Lucy slid down against the tree onto the swaying grass. She closed her eyes as the wind brushed across her cheeks blowing hair in all directions. Her sister smiled and she said in such innocent way ?What is cancer?? Lucy looked up at her sister. She saw innocence, curiosity, and happiness. Lucy did not want to see her cry. She wanted more than anything for her to be happy. The memories stopped and Lucy fell into a deep unconsciousness. Lucy woke up early next morning and saw the blaring sun. Lucy went running to her sister?s room to take her to the ocean. Lucy opened her door and her towel went falling to the ground. Blood drenched into her clothes. Her sister?s eyes screaming in pain. The blood trickled down her arm wrist dripping of her fingers. Her once rosy cheeks now pale white like a ghost. She laid sprawled on the bed lifeless. The window completely opened like an open gate. The curtains blowing in the wind. Her sister so skinny and vulnerable. She looked like a doll with its cotton pulled out. Lucy did nothing but blame herself, screaming from her heart. Lucy ran to her bedside clutching her lifeless hand. Lucy screamed ?why her why! why! why!. ?Why? was the only word that Lucy felt like she knew. Lucy begged for her chest to start moving again but nothing. For months Lucy blamed herself. For months she wondered what Lily?s last thought was. She couldn?t even imagine the pain, Lucy prayed every night that God would take her to join her sister. Until the day Lucy?s mother gave her a wooden box that was from her little sister. Inside there was 100 dollar bills and on a small scribbled note saying, ?Money to find the cure of cancer? Lucy cried finding her new meaning to live. (more...)

okay, it's in script format. I'll probably need to post more details to finish it. Thanks! UNTITLED SCRIPT By Me (no names given out) Summary- Olivia, 15, is at the park with her boyfriend, Max. She thinks back to her old boyfriend, Bruce. The memory is in the same spot about a year ago. They get in and argument that turns out physical. Bruce tries to kill her. Olivia escapes just in time. Back to present day. Later that night, Olivia is just getting in bed when she hears Max whimpering for help. He?s crouched by the door. Suddenly Bruce opens the door. He has a prison outfit and a gun. Olivia escapes the room without Max. Checks back to get him when Bruce knocks her out. She and Max later wakeup in the desert with Bruce. Although they manage to temporarily escape, Bruce appears and uses some sort of weird power and kills Max. Olivia runs off. Max finds her and is about to kill her when she wakes up screaming in her bedroom. It was all just a nightmare. Or was it? Bruce is waiting outside her bedroom door and kills her. Credits roll. EXT: FADE IN ? GRASSY PARK ? DAY The park is bright and full of people. OLIVIA, 15, a happy, beautiful looking girl, sits on a park bench with her head lying on MAX?s shoulder. Max is tall, slender, and likable. Olivia has a dreamy look. Max strokes her hair. OLIVIA Love you, Max. MAX Love you too, Olivia. They sit again for a while. OLIVIA Do you mean it? Max lifts his head, a bit confused. MAX Mean what? Olivia also lifts her head and looks at Max. OLIVIA I mean, do you really love me? MAX Of course I love you, why would you doubt me? Olivia thinks for a moment. OLIVIA I was just, well, remembering something. They put their heads back. Olivia stares into space. Suddenly we see Olivia?s flashback. It?s the same park, but she?s about a year younger. The park is empty except for a WOMAN sitting farther away by herself. She sits at the same bench with another boy. His name is Bruce. He?s 14 or 15 with a large build. Possibly a football player? Has the scared up face type of look without the scars. Her head is on his shoulder. OLIVIA Love you, Bruce. BRUCE Love you too, Olivia. OLIVIA Do you mean it? They lift there heads up. BRUCE You mean loving you? OLIVIA M hm. Do you really mean- BRUCE Of course I mean it. Why would you ever think differently? OLIVIA It?s just that, well, never mind. Bruce gets up and looks mad. BRUCE Wait. You mean that after everything I?ve done for you, you doubt my love towards you? OLIVIA Bruce, please, calm down. I was just- BRUCE (ANGRILLY) No I know what you ment! You ment that you thought I was a faker! Don?t try to cover it up! OLIVIA Bruce, please, not again. If you keep acting up like you do, I?m not sure I want to be with you anymore! BRUCE (SCREAMING) Are you breaking up with me? Olivia gets up too to face him. She?s obviously gone through this before. OLIVIA Well maybe I am! Bruce gives her a push, just hard enough to knock her back a little. She quickly recovers and pushes him back, though causing no harm. Bruce screams at her. BRUCE No one breaks up with me! He shoves her hard this time, sending her flying onto the ground. The WOMAN notices and pulls out her cell phone. BRUCE I can?t believe I ever liked you! Bruce is about to punch her on the ground when he notices the woman dialing 9-11. He turns his head to her and starts running toward her. She?s on the phone yelling ?Help, help!? when Bruce slams her to the ground. He grabs her cell phone and throws it across the park. He then turns around to run to Olivia only to see she?s no longer there. Sirens are heard in the distance. Memory ends. Back the present day with Max. MAX I?ll always love you, my Olivia. OLIVIA You don?t know how much that means to me. INT: OLIVIA?S BEDROOM ? THAT NIGHT We see Olivia enter the room with her pajamas on. There?s a nightlight on by the door and a lamp by her bed. She goes into her bed and turns off the lamp. We see the light glow of the nightlight. She dozes off. She suddenly wakes up to the quite voice of Max. He is not seen. MAX Help me, Olivia. Olivia jumps out of bed to see Max. We see him crouched down by the nightlight and door. He has the living daylights scared out of him. He?s in his clothes from earlier that day. MAX Help me. He?s out to kill both of us. OLIVIA Max, what?s happening? Why are you in here? MAX We?re both going to die. He?s coming for us. OLIVIA Max, who is? MAX He?s going to kill us. OLIVIA WHO??? The door creeks open to reveal older Bruce. He?s wearing a prison suit and holding a gun. Max creeps his hand over to Bruce. MAX Him. Olivia screams bloody murder and runs into a corner. Bruce quickly comes chasing to her but she escapes through the door. We hear Max screaming her name from the bedroom. Olivia hides behind the door, holding it closed. Max screams for her. Deciding to run or not, Olivia quickly opens the door back up to get Max. POV of Olivia When she does, she sees him lying on the floor, unconscious. No blood. She screams again. She stops when she realizes that Bruce isn?t in sight. She spins around to see if he?s behind her. He?s not. She spins back around only to see him there. He jabs her with the butt end of the gun near her chest. BLACKOUT EXT: A BLURRY POV OF OLIVIA LOOKING AT THE SKY ? DAY Exit POV and we see Olivia in the desert lying on the ground. Max is there lying unconscious, but quickly wakes up. They get up quickly and stand there guard, but behind them is Bruce with his gun, sitting on a rock, sleeping. They are both scared out of their wits. Olivia, still wearing her pajamas, motions to Max to co . Quickly, but silently, they creep away from the area. When they assume they?re far enough away, they stop. The two embrace. OLIVIA Oh my God, I thought we were dead. MAX I thought we were, too. They separate. OLIVIA Oh my God, I knew he had anger issues, but I never thought him insane. MAX You knew that guy??? OLIVIA He?s my ex boyfriend. He attacked me last year and was sent to jail. Killed another woman. MAX That?s awful. I wonder how he escaped. OLIVIA Who cares, let?s get out of here. They start moving but suddenly Bruce jumps out with his gun. BRUCE I?ve got you now, Olivia! Suddenly he crouches down is pain as Max knees him in the crotch. He drops the gun and Max picks it up. MAX Run! She obeys and they run as fast as they can. Again, though, Bruce jumps out in front of them. Max shoots at him. No harm done. Scared and confused, Max shoots again, this time at his head. Nothing. Bruce laughs, evilly. BRUCE You idiots. You think that does anything to me? I?m Bruce! I?m indestructible! I?m all powerful. Bruce holds up his hands in a magical way. Suddenly Max, like a robot, walks over to Bruce and hands him the gun. Then he falls back against a tall rock. Olivia quickly runs for her life. In the background, we see Bruce shoot Max. He dies and falls to the floor. Olivia doesn?t look back, but keeps on running. Bruce chases her. Olivia makes a turns and jumps behind a bush. Thinking she?s safe, Olivia crouches down and is about to cry when- Bruce jumps into the picture and uses the hand thing again, this time only using one hand, the gun in the other. Olivia obeys by lying with her back to the ground. POV of Olivia with Bruce towering over her. Points the gun right into the camera. The second he shoots- INT: OLIVIA?S BEDROOM ? NIGHT Olivia wakes up screaming. It was all a dream. Panting hard, she looks relieved. The light from the nightlight is the only light to the room. Olivia looks at her nightstand to her glass. She picks it up to drink out of it, realizing it?s empty. POV of OLIVIA Gets out of bed and grabs the glass. As she heads to the door, she sees a very real Max from her dream. The door creeks open and the prison-suited Bruce. He has the gun. He is smiling. Points it to the camera (Olivia). Olivia screams. BLACKOUT ? We hear Bruce say ?goodnight? and a shot. Okay, the end. Thanks for reading. I'm still working on a title. I was thinking Dangerous Obsesion (opinion?) PS- I don't want them to know that it's a dream until the end so.. i don't want the title to give it away. (more...)
