To parents, they're the new Hanson. To kids who've been tuning into Radio Disney and flipping the pages of Tiger Beat, they're geniuses. Jonas Brothers, the sophomore effort from the close-knit, close-up ready trio of New Jersey boys, is a mercilessly catchy collection of short but sweet punk- and emo-flavored confections. "Goodnight and Goodbye" grabs hold with guitar-fueled urgency, "Still in Love" borrows from old-school acts like KISS to build a slighter, kid-friendlier brand of classic rock, and "Games" has a respectable go at ska without sacrificing much in the way of pure-pop accessibility. Come Away with Me
It is not just the timbre of Norah Jones's voice that is mature beyond her 22 years. Her assured phrasing and precise time are more often found in older singers as well. She is instantly recognizable, blending shades of Billie Holiday and Nina Simone without sounding like anyone but herself. Any way you slice it, she is a singer to be reckoned with. Her readings of the Hank Williams classic "Cold Cold Heart" and Hoagy Carmichael's "The Nearness of You" alone are worth the price of the CD. Jones's own material, while not bad, pales a bit next to such masterpieces. They might have fared better had she and producer Arif Mardin opted for some livelier arrangements, taking better advantage of brilliant sidemen such as Bill Frisell, Kevin Breit, and Brian Blade; or if the tunes had simply been given less laconic performances. Jones has all the tools; what will come with experience and some careful listening to artists like J.J. Cale and Shirley Horn is the knack of remaining low-key without sounding sleepy--sometimes less is not, in fact, more. --Michael Ross

The only one of August Wilson's plays to be filmed (and for television, at that), this 1990 Pulitzer Prize-winner is an amazing piece of work. Adapted by Wilson and directed by Lloyd Richards, who staged it on Broadway, the play deals not just with racism and its effects but with the ongoing legacy and curse of slavery on modern blacks. Set in 1920s Pittsburgh, the story deals with the arrival of Boy Willie (Charles Dutton) from Mississippi, to claim a family heirloom from his sister Berniece (Alfre Woodard): the piano, carved by their ancestors with symbols of slavery. He wants to sell it to buy the land his grandfather worked as a slave; Berniece refuses to give it up because it represents a horrifying episode from the family's past. Add in ghosts, superb performances, and Wilson's poetically charged writing, and you have a startlingly solid piece of theater that works well as a film. --Marshall Fine

Open Question: Tips on playing the piano?
I have been learning how to play the piano for about 2 years now. I'm currently not learning to play, but I feel like I want to learn again. The only hard thing for me is reading the sharps and flats and playing the keys that are either all the way up to the right or all the way down to the left. I think it's just my piano teacher that's bad because I didn't really learn much about chords and all that stuff. When I first began playing, I just jumped right into playing songs already. I think I need to focus on the basics, but I don't really know what the basics are. >.< I feel like all the time I have been learning weren't really helping me or I just suck at this kind of stuff. Any help is appreciated. =]
Also, I tried to play some songs on my own from getting music sheets from the internet, but I think my main problem is reading the music sheet and knowing what to play. @.@ And should I try to get another teacher and try again from the bottom? xD
I also kind of tend to give up easily when I can't play a song I want to. But it is kind of my motivation. xD Also, any tips on practicing but not getting bored of it?

Open Question: I need some help getting on my feet , i need a life counselor please someone?
Im 32 yrs old, live with parents, no job,im the only child, and i stay in all the time. I have a college degree in teaching. BUt i tried it and cant handle the stress and bad kids. It was a miracle i graduated. My piano and song writing is my life but i cant make any money with it and most schools cut the music departments so its hard to get a fulltime music job in a school.
I stay home all day watching tv and working on my car. I work on my car 24-7 , i put stuff on it, take it off , put it on again and go crazy with it. My car is my entire life. Its old but nothing great. I have 1 friend who is a girl that like me a realllll lot but im not good enough for her. I know it. Obviously.
The first problem is the heavy addiction to the car. I spend time and money on it. I cant put it down. How can you help me to put it to the side and focus on my priorities. The is very serious, i need a real sharp person to solve this problem . I dont have money so i cant go to a shrink.
#2 My piano is my life, how can i get back into the music world again? Why cant i bring myself to play? Why is the car the only thing i can find peace in.
#3 And why am i afraid to get a job other then in music teaching and get on with my life. Im not dumb , people say, im just lazy.
Why cant i get off my ass? Why? I am just all used up with answers.

Open Question: Can anyone help me read this sheet music? Im hoping its for the guitar...?
I recently bought a guitar and want to play this song. I know there is a piano in the acoustic version so Im not sure if this is for piano, guitar, bass or what. Im especially curious what the notes/chords are on the 4th and 5th lines. I believe those are the chorus lines. What does it mean when 3 notes are played at once? Are these chords? Or do I play all 3 corresponding strings on my guitar?

Open Question: Good folder for carrying piano music?
I'd like to buy a nice folder for carrying around my piano music, something to stop it from getting beaten up in my backpack. It would have to be capable of carrying pretty thick books, like a volume of Beethoven sonatas and some other stuff. It doesn't need to be fancy, but it should be solidly built (i.e. built to last). Does anyone know where I might get something like this? A link would also be very helpful.

The thing about the binder is I would have to be playing on photocopies -- the book of Beethoven sonatas obviously could not be hole-punched. So maybe I'm just being stupid, and I should just make photocopies of all the music I'm playing, but it would be nice to have something to carry the music book itself in. A choir folder wouldn't really work, because the book of sonatas is over an inch thick, and I might want to carry other books as well.
