Open Question: Not sure I want to go to uni anymore?
I always thought it was the done thing to go to university after college but now I'm having second thoughts. I've put all my uni choices as music and dance as these are the two things I've always had my heart set on, I originally wanted to be in theatre. Now I've moved onto just wanting to sing and am no longer interested in dance, so I don't want to do dance in uni anymore. Now I'm thinking, if I go to university, what good is a degree in music going to do me? Shouldn't I really be singing in other places to get noticed? Because that's what I'd have to do anyway after university, it would be a waste of three years. I was thinking of taking a year out before uni and getting a job to earn some money first and sort out what I want. Can you give me some advice on pros and cons please? I'm trying to get advice from everyone. My dad's said he has no objections either way, which doesn't really help me! Thanks for any help! (more...)

Open Question: My Brother Is a Bum, Please, Please Help?
I am beginning to lose any respect that I have had for my brother. We live at home with my mother. He is 20, he works but never has money to get to work. Everyday I cringe knowing he is going to knock on my door and ask if I have change on me. With a guilty conscious I always say yes, always. Just today I gave him $4 which I should have kept. When he?s around you are bound to hear, ?Can I eat this?? I?ll buy you some more or ?Do you have some change? I?ll pay you back. And he ak\lways forgets to pay back, but if you were to ask him for the money he would give it to you. He asks my mother if he could eat her food and she is diabetic, so he goes through her food. I feel bad because like me she doesn?t say no, when she should. I hide my food. He has 2 small bills to pay, and no children to take care of, jis bills come to about $80 the most and he pays rent. With all that left over money he buys weed and take out. I get a measly $370 a month and I make that stretch, I pay rent, buy food, use for transportation, and buy the things my daughter might need. He makes up to $1,000 a month and never has food, or money to get to work. What the hell? He doesn?t wash his clothes, if they get too dirty he will throw them away. His feet stinks. His towel stinks, his teeth are rotting. He doesn't buy necessity items such as toilet paper, deodorant but expects it to be here. Again, I get a measly 370 a month and I make that stretch, he makes up to $1,000 month and he can't make that stretch. Everyday he smokes, plays his video game, looks for food to eat, goes to make his rap music and goes to sleep, it?s the same thing every day. He was in a G.E.D. program for like 4 years when he should have only been there for like 6 months. He does not take care of himself, and I am tired of it. I feel angry at him and sometimes at my mother because she is too lenient, she didn?t push him or us for that matter hard enough. But I have a goal to break this mold, I am trying to transfer to Columbia university once I complete my Associates and I am going to work my butt off, so I can buy my own house and have my daughter living comfortably. I believe he has talent but he is wasting it. I believe he has potential with his music, like the potential to be big but I feel he needs a back up plan as well. I am tired of seeing him in this spot, living like a leech despite the fact that he makes his own money. I don?t want to make him seem like a bad guy, he always shares whatever food he has when he has it and if my mother needed help, he would help her and me too. im getting kinda worried because im 19 turning 20 and i have no clue what i wanna be in life my grades in school were average my best subject was pe law and tourism i never took computers but im on a computer like 24/7 listening to music and watching movies i wanted to maybe try for culinary arts cause i loved it but i only got like 50 percent in grade 11 and didnt take it in grade 12 i have no effing clue what to become my grade average was like c plus to Bs and im not sure if u can get into university for that can i get some suggestions? Open Question: Piano Pieces for College Auditions?
Most university music programs have audition requirements which demand the repertoire of - One baroque (Bach) piece (veryoften specified as a prelude or fugue from WTC) - One full Mozart or Beethoven Sonata - One Romantic piece - One modern piece For the sonata, I have Beethoven's Pathetique. For the romantic, I have Rachmaninoff's Preludes in C# and G Minor. Can anybody recommend a good baroque and/or modern piece for college auditions. Should be technically impressive, but extremely difficult since I don't have all the time in the world. I like works in minor keys, and my favorite composers are Beethoven, Rachmaninoff, Tchaikovsky, Grieg, and other Romantics. Thank you, Alegoo92/ (more...)

Open Question: Which one would be more useful to me as a gcse for when i go University?
Ok well, i am choosing my options soon and: Out of geography & history i am probably going to chose: History Out of French & german i am probably going to chose: French And the two other options out of all the other subjects which aren't compulsory (music, textiles, Business studies, sport, art, music) i am not sure about. -i am going to definitely choose Sport as one option but i don't know which other one to choose. Also, instead of another option from the ones in brackets above, i could do one of the ones i will drop- german or geography. What i want you to answer is in your opinion if i wanted to study say sport science/sport psychology/sports physiotherapy at University, which other option would be the most useful gcse for me to choose?
