Being Elizabeth
The number-one bestselling author delivers her most provocative, sizzling novel yet—a story of money, power, love, and betrayal that only Barbara Taylor Bradford could write.
At age twenty-five, Elizabeth Deravenel finds herself in a position few women her age could image: the head of Deravenels, a business empire that spans the globe. It’s a company whose reach is wide and whose secrets are deep. Deravenels has roots that go far back in her family’s history, and she knows the price that many had to pay to see it reach the success it is today. And Elizabeth is the youngest executive in the company she now leads. Surrounded by rumors and disloyalty, she knows that there are many people who would give anything to take down the company—and her with it. With her enemies circling, she finds herself at a crossroad of choices involving her mind, her heart, and her destiny. As scandal surrounds the one man she’s ever loved, Elizabeth discovers how the next move she makes could have deadly and final consequences. Being Elizabeth is Barbara Taylor Bradford at her storytelling best.
“Rife with dastardly internecine struggles, smoldering illicit passion, and cowardly insidious betrayals…packs as much intrigue as any Shakespearean royal drama.”

Open Question: SHOULD BURRIS BE SEATED AS SENATOR WHEN THERE ARE OBVIOUS CONFLICTS OF INTEREST/?
Burris, by his own admission, contributed an amount of money, somewhere from $ 10,000 to $ 20,000 to Blagojevich, (he "wasn't sure how much") and his "consulting firm" got about $ 300,000 in Illinois state contracts.
Gee, a Senate seat AND $ 300,000--- that's a lot of return in the pay-for-play government merry go round!!! And he wants to be a Senator?
But, that's the way that our government works, corruption is rampant, and they all cover up for one another, except for those who have made too many enemies, such as Blagojevich.
Burris appears to be just another hog at the trough of government funds, making out like a bandit at the taxpayers' expense.
Shouldn't we call an end to this? It goes on in every state of the Union, and is business as usual in Washington.
No wonder our country is in such dire financial straits, when we have these self-serving individuals who profiteer and waste our tax dollars.

Open Question: Advertising A Business?
Within the last month i started my own business selling equestrian products. Sales have been steady but im looking to advertise it more. Anywhere ive seen are looking huge amounts for advertising.
Im starting the business from scratch, ive my metatags all done and its advertised with google and yahoo etc.
All customers have said that my prices are very good and competitive. Many were shocked that i recommend the best product to them, not the most expensive one. I get repeat customers but i want to draw more in.
I know there is a credit crunch at the moment, but people still have horses, and after checking other equestrian websites, im definitely cheaper than them.

Open Question: I would like some advice relating to running my own business, please?
So, I have a job that pays just enough to pay my bills but doesn't give me any wiggle room at all. Several months ago I placed an ad on Craig's List advertising my sevices as an English tutor. I did a lot of tutoring when I was in college, and I always loved doing it, so this has been a pleasant and rewarding experience for me. The response to my ad has been excellent.
In fact, it's been so excellent that I'm getting way more work than I can handle while still holding down my regular full-time job. I've had to turn away several people because I already have more students than I probably should. I am working all the time.
Tutoring kids has opened a lot of doors for me. For instance, one of my student's parents hired me to do writing and editing work for his company's monthly newsletter. College students often hire me to help them edit and re-write papers. And I'm doing some work on another student's parent's company website.
I feel like this is the first time in my life that I've had such opportunities coming my way. I really don't want to ignore what could be a chance to finally take control of my future and perhaps stop working for the man.
Is there any way I could take this and turn it into an actual business? I need advice.
Thanks.
Crap--sorry about the typo up there. Haha, isn't that ironic? It should read, obviously, "services" instead of "sevices".

Open Question: Advice on gay relationship?
Were going on 3 years together, and having a big gay wedding in March. Its a big to-do since we live in a small town where everybody is in everbody elses business. The other day I was hanging out with my partners sister, I told her how we had went to the attorney, signed powers of attorneys, afadavids forthis and that, a will and put all or assets together in a Trust to secure and somewhat legalize our relationship before the bi wedding. She then tells me how the whole family is so happy he and I are together despite their religious views, and that he brothe (my fiance) is a completely different person with me, that he really loves me. I ask how he was so different? Her answer was that he was a "big player" and " big cheater" and never wanted to settle down. I asked why she felt that he was a big cheater? she then said "well, its not that he had a big problem with it, but he dated losers, I woulda cheated on them too!" The problem for me is that he was open and upfront about his past, that he was no angel. I did ask him though if hed cheated on his boyfriends, and since he had only been in 2 serious relationships, both lasting less than 2 years, he said, no he didnt cheat and that he believes in monogamy. Now Im hearing otherwise from his own sister! I asked him about this, he still says he wasnt a cheater, and isnt a cheater and that he is going to ask her why she said that. hes been totally honest about everything since weve been together, should this be a red flag?, even though our relationship is great, I dont like lies. Any advice here?

Open Question: Investor needed for a business in the Philly area. Can you invest?
I need an investor - NOT recommendations on business ideas!!!
I would like to open up a retail store in Delaware County. I checked the location and did all my research on it. The same goes for the products. The demand is there and growing. The main idea is making beauty products fresh to order kind of like bakeries do it with cakes. And also to sell products people can just buy from the shelf.
I have the recipes (about 600 of them!) and many of the ingredients. However, I am well aware of the fact that a daily revenue stream from the own store would be better then just selling on ebay, craft shows and markets or doing things on consignment. No more hunting after people that do not want to pay for products they had on consignment and sold. I have also a nice customer base that keeps on asking me when I would open up my own store.
I would need an investment of $10K at the most, 8K is more likely, which would cover everything from rent to overhead, insurance, material that is missing, etc. I myself have all the formulations and also a good selection of raw materials to start.
I tried to take out a loan, but the banks said: 'There is no money in natural skin care products, even though your idea is solid' But there is!!!!
If someone would invest I would offer in return a partnership or to pay the investment back with interest no matter if it works or not! However, the intellectual property (meaning the formulations) will stay mine!

Open Question: What do I do now - quit job/emotional toll question?
I'm really looking for practical and emotional advice, I don't know how to deal with this situation, on one hand it can look really bad and on the other it may be not as bad as I am perceiving right now...
I worked through a temp agency for 6 months at a job I really was very unhappy at. I still came in early, stayed late every day and accepted a lot of unprofessionalism from the higher-ups (in short it was a family business, there was a lot of inconsistencies in directions, no set procedures and consequently I was thrown under the bus often, plus no matter how hard I worked or how I just did what I was told no matter how often it changed, every little thing was nit-picked constantly and even one of the higher-ups that I didn't work under directly said it is a thankless job). As a side note, I found out that they really liked my performance and were going to hire me full-time, which shows I was a good employee anyway.
Ok, now that I am done complaining, I still have to say that I would have continued there despite these issues as they are things I could work through. However, in early December my boyfriend and I (who I was living with) had a really bad falling-out and broke up. I had been using his vehicle to get to and from my job every day, usually he would drop me off at a train from which I would transfer to a bus and then walk or take a taxi to get to my job. That was hell, but it was the only way I could get to my job as I have no car of my own. It was also very costly. Because of our break-up, I was extremely distressed and desperate and immediately told both the job itself and my temp agency that I was moving to AZ (which is over 1,000 miles away) to be with my family because I could no longer live with my boyfriend. I moved in with my mom in AZ right away, and to make a long story short, I worked things out with my boyfriend while there. I ended up moving back in with him very recently. I just spoke with my rep. at the temp agency and she basically said I should have been more upfront and honest about the situation, more professional, and that she couldn't give a reference now but would let me know if any jobs opened up in my area. I explained somewhat that it was a really unfortunate situation but that I was honest and upfront, I should have given notice but it was a desperate situation for me and I regretted having made such a split decision. I also told her that I worked really hard at the position, using a few examples. But in the end she repeated the thing about how I should have been more honest and professional. Now, I agree that I should have told them what was going on and what I was thinking of doing without just informing them that I was leaving because of the situation and not giving them at least the option to help. I left them no options. I really regret that. But I am upset that they will conclude I was dishonest and I am also confused by the fact that they are still willing to work with me but not give a reference.
I don?t know what to do or how to feel. I really on one hand am deeply upset with myself. I feel like for all they know, I could have been lying entirely and just wanted a month off to spend the holidays with my family in AZ. I left in early December and returned shortly after the New Year.
I need a job, and does this mean I can't use this most recent job I was at for 6 months on any new job application? I am so unsure of how to handle this in terms of any upcoming applications or interviews, and I just don't want to mess up any future job prospects. I learned a lot from it, which is good, but I need practical suggestions on what to do in terms of future jobs I go for. Do I put this job on the application or on my resume, and try to explain the situation in the interview process? Do I just put this job's information on my resume and any applications and say nothing, and hope they just get the bare facts of the dates I worked there? Would they find out that I gave no notice upon leaving? I don?t know if I should try to ?go on the offense? before they find out from the temp agency how I left by giving some information beforehand. I am afraid if I do that they will immediately decide not to hire me.
I'm sorry for going on so long, but has anyone been in this situation? I feel like such a loser right now.
As a side note, I am hoping in the fall to start a veterinary technician program. I have wanted to do it for almost 10 years and I think if I don?t do it now I will never forgive myself. So I just need a job that I can get to without a car, either really locally or in NYC because there IS a bus that goes to NYC right outside my complex.
I wrote this question because I guess I am hopefully looking for some words of wisdom in job-hunting with this kind of recent situation, and maybe if you've been there how you got through it. I feel like beating myself up doesn't accomplish anything and will make it more difficult to come across the way I want to on fu
