Closer

Thanks to a fortuitous intersection of talent and fate, 22-year-old Josh Groban hasn't finished his senior year in performing arts school but has already released his sophomore effort on a major major label. Fans of the young vocal phenom's debut will find much to enthrall them here, even if it nudges the singer closer to the center of producer/mentor David Foster's MOR pop sensibilities. Eschewing much of its predecessor's more overt classic-lite pretensions and pop-rock covers for a slate of dramatic, Eurocentric ballads that serve as a showcase for the singer's inviting baritone, Groban shrewdly positions himself as the American alternative to the Bocelli-Watson crossover axis. "Caruso" may find the singer falling short of its operatic inspiration, but "Oceano" and "My Confession" quickly showcase his true dramatic range (which seems to all but yearn for a bona fide Broadway musical challenge), while a vocal take of Bacalov's graceful "Il Postino" theme uses classical virtuoso Joshua Bell's violin flourishes to good effect. To his credit, Groban displays some promising efforts at songwriting collaboration on the bittersweet "Per Te" and "Remember When It Rains," while the ambient/ethnic soundscape of Deep Forest's "Never Let Go" offers a teasing alternative to the record's otherwise melodramatic production formula. Groban has found commercial triumph via Foster's mentoring, but there remains a nagging sense here that he hasn't truly pushed himself as an artist--yet.

The Wiggles - Yule Be Wiggling

The Wiggles, that bee-boppin', harmonizing Australian quartet, dishes up another grand helping of Christmas cheer for 1- to 6-year-olds in
Yule Be Wiggling. It's a bountiful romp sure to inspire 45 minutes of gleeful twisting, shaking, tapping, rocking, and swaying. Singers Greg, Anthony, Murray, and Jeff will treat viewers to an international buffet of 16 fresh and traditional holiday tunes, including "Murray's Christmas Samba," "Curoo Curoo," "The Christmas Polka," and "Jingle Bells." Most of the fun happens on their colorful performance stage; but Captain Feathersword's antics, a dizzying computer-animated number ("Jimmy the Elf"), and the occasional home video nicely enhance the dance routines. At times, the extended Wiggles cast and the whirlwind action give
Yule Be Wiggling the feel of an overstuffed Christmas stocking. But the bounty is wholesome and heartily shared. Only a Scrooge could begrudge the pure joy that effuses from the Wiggles or from the many kids who dearly love this award-winning group's performances.

Led Zeppelin - The Song Remains the Same

For Led Zeppelin fanatics, this 1976 feature
The Song Remains the Same is a treasure of searing live performances, particularly welcome in light of the sad scarcity of such visual material from the band's great decade. Despite the group's road weariness after a long tour, their final, three-night stand at Madison Square Garden in 1973 was full of the old power. Performances of "No Quarter," "Whole Lotta Love," "Black Dog," "Dazed and Confused," and "Stairway to Heaven" underscore Zep's charisma. Trouble is, you don't get an unbroken performance here. Viewers have to wade through a mishmash of documentary insight into the lives of Robert Plant, Jimmy Page, John Bonham, and John Paul Jones, as well as fantasy sequences supposedly inspired by the thoughts and fantasies of the band's individual members. It's mostly garish and silly, but there are some nice elements, especially insights into the late Bonham's life. The DVD doesn't offer much in the way of add-ons (a theatrical trailer is about it), but there is also enhanced viewing for 16 x 9 televisions.

The Time of Your Life
When James Cagney starred in the 1948 movie adaptation of
The Time of Your Life, it was hotly debated whether William Saroyan's stage play was really filmable at all. Because of its small cast, because all the action takes place on a single claustrophobic set, because the "plot" consists entirely of sub-plots, and because Saroyan's "dirty sentimentality" isn't to everyone's taste, such doubts are still understandable today.
However, accept the movie for what it is--a play in a box--and you'll be captivated. The story revolves around a down-at-heel bar-restaurant, where a group of disparate characters come and go as their stories gradually unfold. They include an ex-prostitute desperately seeking a new life, a dancer looking for a break into show business, a down-and-out who discovers a vocation as a pianist, and a beer-sodden cowboy. This gaggle of misfits is presided over by an enigmatic, champagne-drinking philanthropist (brilliantly played by Cagney) who gently nudges them towards their goals while indulging his own fascination with the minutiae of daily life. --Roger Thomas

Juno (Single-Disc Edition)

Somewhere between the sharp satire of
Election and the rich human comedy of
You Can Count On Me lies
Juno, a sardonic but ultimately compassionate story of a pregnant teenage girl who wants to give her baby up for adoption. Social misfit Juno (Ellen Page,
Hard Candy,
X-Men: The Last Stand) protects herself with a caustic wit, but when she gets pregnant by her friend Paulie (Michael Cera,
Superbad), Juno finds herself unwilling to terminate the pregnancy. When she chooses a couple who place a classified ad looking to adopt, Juno gets drawn further into their lives than she anticipated. But
Juno is much more than its plot; the stylized dialogue (by screenwriter Diablo Cody) seems forced at first, but soon creates a richly textured world, greatly aided by superb performances by Page, Cera, Jennifer Garner and Jason Bateman as the prospective parents, and J.K. Simmons (
Spider-Man) and Allison Janney as Juno's father and stepmother. Director Jason Reitman (
Thank You For Smoking) deftly keeps the movie from slipping into easy, shallow sarcasm or foundering in sentimentality. The result is smarter and funnier than you might expect from the subject matter, and warmer and more touching than you might expect from the cocky attitude. Page's performance is deceptively simple; she never asks the audience to love her, yet she effortlessly carries a movie in which she's in almost every scene. That's star power. --

Burpee's Ultimate Seed Starting System: Self-Watering seed starting tray
Park Seed BioDome is similiar to a regular watering traay, dome and cells. But they say that it will help with plant roots and such: Comes with soil, and food.
Also do you think the Burpee's Automator would help for a beginner gardener like me?
Would you rather use a PVC Tomato Cage or buy a Burpee's Tomato Cage

Open Question: help me with plot of my short story?
so i have to write a short story for school...5-7 pages double spaced.
here is what i have so far.
Annie, a teenager, goes to the park everyday to walk her dog. She never really talks to anyone when she's there...it's kind of like her time to get out and just think. But one day, she notices this guy there. Then her dog breaks loose from her grip on the leash and runs into him...the attractive guy that she noticed catches her dog. His name is Nicholas. Nicholas has a golden retriever just like Annie. So Annie and Nicholas start talking...and they decide to meet up again tomorrow.
>When Annie gets to the park and goes to the spot they decided to meet at, he isn't there..but she stumbles upon his dogs collar..from looking at the collar she gets his address and decides to return it to Nicholas.
>When Annie gets to the house, the front door is ajar, she calls Nicks name a couple times, and no one responds...so she goes in.
THIS IS WHERE I AM STUCK?
should I have Annie find like a ransom note for Nick....and she has to go on some wild goose hunt for him..and I have no idea how to end that and in only 7 pages...
OR
It was a trap...and Nick comes up from behind her and he like keeps her there....and she has to somehow escape..and what all should happen?? and how to end??
see alternative scenarios..and no idea how to end either of them?? any advice or suggestions would be super helpful!!!!

Resolved Question: Would you like to read a sheepdog joke? ?
Warning- a bit long
A shepherd was herding his flock in a remote pasture when suddenly a brand-new BMW advanced out of a dust cloud towards him. The driver, a young man in a Broni suit, Gucci shoes, Ray Ban sunglasses and YSL tie, leans out the window and asks the shepherd, "If I tell you exactly how many sheep you have in your flock, will you give me one?"
The shepherd looks at the man, obviously a yuppie, then looks at his peacefully grazing flock and calmly answers, "Sure. Why not?"
The yuppie parks his car, whips out his Dell notebook computer, connects it to his AT&T cell phone, surfs to a NASA page on the internet, where he calls up a GPS satellite navigation system to get an exact fix on his location which he then feeds to another NASA satellite that scans the area in an ultra-high-resolution photo.
The young man then opens the digital photo in Adobe Photoshop and exports it to an image processing facility in Hamburg, Germany. Within seconds, he receives an email on his Palm Pilot that the image has been processed and the data stored. He then accesses a MS-SQL database through an ODBC connected Excel spreadsheet with hundreds of complex formulas. He uploads all of this data via an email on his Blackberry and, after a few minutes, receives a response. Finally, he prints out a full-color, 150-page report on his hi-tech, miniaturized HP LaserJet printer and finally turns to the shepherd and says, "You have exactly 1586 sheep."
"That's right. Well, I guess you can take one of my sheep." says the shepherd. He watches the young man select one of the animals and looks on amused as the young man stuffs it into the trunk of his car.
Then the shepherd says to the young man, "Hey, if I can tell you exactly what your business is, will you give me back my sheep?"
The young man thinks about it for a second and then says, "Okay, why not?"
"You're a consultant." says the shepherd.
"Wow! That's correct," says the yuppie, "but how did you guess that?"
"No guessing required." answered the shepherd. "You showed up here even though nobody called you; you want to get paid for an answer I already knew; to a question I never asked; and you don't know crap about my business ....
" ... Now give me back my dog."

Open Question: How can my band get more fans at our shows?
My band, She Eats Planets (www.myspace.com/sheeatsplanets, www.sheeatsplanets.com), is a rock/pop quintet from Connecticut. We're primarily female (though our drummer is a male). We've got a fair amount of friends on our Myspace page and we have sites with Facebook, Beebo, ReverbNation, etc. but we seem to have a hard time getting people to come out to our shows.
We try to play a show every weekend in different cities in our state and sometimes out of state. We've had some big shows (Park Avenue on New Year's Eve in NYC with a good turnout for example) but it seems that when we play a regular Friday night show we have maybe five people in the audience and they're friends or boyfriends. When new people *do* see us, they always tell us that they loved us, but we never see them at shows again.
We're looking for any suggestions to help us bring more people out to our shows.
Thanks!

Heyy heres the second part of the story.
(heres the link to the first part if you havent read: http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index;_ylt=AnE3bTgOD83.WYiVZpAvB0Psy6IX;_ylv=3?qid=20081221212839AATCYJD )
I turned around and went back from the way i came from....i was walking the empty halls once again.. i guess i'm sorta hoping i'll run into him again if i go this way... he
seemed different... like no one else i know.. i wonder why ihave never seen him before.. I entered the library and found a free table and sat down.. i took out my history
book and opened it up to page 136 The Life of Anne Boleyn... ahh so thats what her name was.. I started writing my report and got about half a page done.. then i got lost
in my thoughts about what had happened earlier.. then it hit me.. I dont even know his name!.. well no use thinking about him now this school has over 2,000 students i'm never
going to find him without knowing his name and him not knowing mine... i finished up my report and packed up and walked those empty halls one last time to the main doors.
I have to head home now its already 4:00... and i have to prepare dinner and help my younger sister with her homework and do the laundry, then finish my english
homework too.. I better get going i have a lot to do..
I hate but love my walk home. An oximoron I know. Its not distance i hate becasue its only a 3 mile walk from the school to home. Its not time, although i do tend to run late,
but its only a half an hour walk. What i hate is what i see. Friends, couples, Familys.. Everyone. They all have someone to walk with, to talk to, to be with. Me? Nah i'm always alone.
But i guess thats my fault. No matter how hard someone trys to get close i push them away becasue i'm afraid to get hurt again. Damn trust issues. I could fix them if i would just let go
but its harder than that.. the one thing i need to let go is still here.. still following me around like a lost puppy dog. worst thing? i cant do anything about it....
I love my walk home becasue it gives me so much time to think, which i tend to need with my mind. And its beautiful. Especially in the fall. My favorite season. The trees usually go orange,
red, and bright yellow. Except for last year there was too much yellow for my liking, but it was still beautiful..
I've already passed past the towns local drugstore, the shabby little community breakfast place, walked threw the depressing dark ally that i use for a shortcut across town and past the donut shop.
But now, right around this corner and up a little bit is my favorite part. Our community memorial park. i'm not really quite sure who the memorial is for but the place is amazing. so i'm guessing
whoever its for must be really important to. I stop in my favorite spot each time i walk home from school, which is practiclly every day since my ride lives in florida for winter, its a beautiful stone
fountain that just keeps running now matter how cold it is outside with a wooden bench right in front of it with a name engraved but its been there so long i cant read it. to get here you have to
walk on a long gravel path, past a few willow trees and one white birch, and threw some bushes... i guess its not the main attraction of the park to most people, but to me its the best. its my escape i
spend most of my weekend here reading.
Well i'm here on this bench, my bench, once again. but i cant stay for long, even though i wish i could just sit here forever, i have to go home and do my normal routine. So i get up reluctenly, and go
back threw the bushes and past the one white birch and the few willows on the long gravel path, back to the main road, my house is only one block away now. so i'll be there soon.. oh God i wish i
didnt have to go home today.. nothings different today than any other really.. but i just dont wanna go home.
Okay thank you for reading AGAIN! and there is still more to come.. i guess its gonna be longer than i expected. I didnt really like this part as much as i like the first part but this is more like a gradual upclimb to the next parts and it was more of an info imformer and it'll makes sense later haha... specially that part bout her trust issues. .... OH! and i'm SO sorry for taking so long with it.. just i can only right when i feel a certain way or the voice is way off. but yea haha.
But again thank you so much for reading =)
P.S bad punction/proofreading i know but give meh a break i write at like 1-3 am haha okay ya nevermind thats still early but hey my grammar sucks what can i say? thank you for putting up with it though <33
