Resolved Question: Who will be the next Villain in the third Batman movie?
Chris Nolan is taking a break from the Batman series. That said, there is simply too much money, and buzz for them to not make a third movie. Nolan will direct, and Bale will be Batman. They have both said that they will not be involved without the other.
Consider that the last Batman 3 came out even with a new director, Joel Schumacher, a new Batman, Val Kilmer, they paid Jim Carrey 20 million to be the Riddler, and the only character to return from the first two was Alfred.
Batman 3 is coming!
Here is what has been confirmed through various sources both online and in print. Aaron Eckhart signed with Warner Brothers to do two movies in the series, Two Face will definitely return. If you don't believe this than ask yourself why Chris Nolan would go out of his way to tell the story of Harvey Dent, only to transform him into Two Face in the final 15 minutes, only to kill him off in the last few minutes after he killed a mere 5 people? Not likely.
They had a funeral for Harvey Dent because Harvey Dent (Gotham's White Knight) is dead, and the monster known as Two Face has emerged. Batman took the same fall as Two Face in the building only to get up and run to the Batcycle. Two Face survived burns over half of his body, and a high speed auto wreck, but not a three story drop?
This answers who will not be in the third movie, The Riddler. I have heard ridiculous rumors that Johnny Depp has been signed to be the Riddler and that is simply not true. Nolan has not signed on to do a third Batman, and there is no way that the studio would hire a new actor into an existing series without the director's approval. Chris Nolan is far too creative to put Two Face and The Riddler in his third crack at the series. The Riddler is out. (P.S. In my opinion you have a better chance of seeing Johnny Depp cast as the Joker than as the Riddler).
I am of the opinion that Chris Nolan will try to complement Two Face with a villain that has never been on the big screen before. In case you don't know there are ton of villains that have never been done before. I would assume the front runners would be Calendar Man, Black Mask, and Talia Al Ghul though that is pure speculation.
I know they plugged catwoman in The Dark Knight (Morgan Freeman says the armor will do fine against cats). Catwoman comes with alot of baggage, i.e. they would have to incorporate Selena Kyle into Nolan's Gotham which might be tough. She is also among the most popular villains, meaning it has been done before (remember Halle Berry as Catwoman) me either but it happened.
The Penguin was by far the darkest character of the 90's Batman's, and with Nolan's 'darker' vision it would be difficult to top Danny DeVito's Penguin portrayal. Again it is difficult to incorporate such marquee villains into such a grounded series.
Think how long it took Nolan to develop the character of Two Face, does it seem likely that he would just throw the Penguin, or Catwoman directly into the mix without any background?
Really no one knows who will be in the full cast. Nolan has already said that he will under no circumstances do a Robin. We know Two Face will return, though he will likely have help. Feel free to reply with relevant speculation, but rumors i.e. Philip Seymour Hoffman as Penguin, Angelina Jolie as Catwoman have already been explored on other places and there is no validity to those assumptions. (who can honestly say they called Heath Ledger as the Joker?)
On a sidenote my personal opinion is that it will be Blackmask. In the comics he becomes the leader of the mafia which is already well incorporated into Nolan's Batman.
Peter, why would they sign Aaron to Batman Begins a movie he wasn't even in? We would have all thought he was the Joker if that was the case. Why would they kill off Two Face and (with Heath's passing) start from scratch? Sorry I forgot Commissioner Gordon from Batman Forever. The mob boss gets tossed off a third story and doesn't die but super villain Two Face can't take it? I've read the Long Halloween and its about killings on Holidays with each chapter being Halloween, T-Day, XMas, etc. There are 25 villains in that graphic novel and if you ever read it you will know the dark knight was nothing like the novel. Who needs to get who's facts straight? I'm telling you Nolan builds up his characters, and if it wasn't for the huge cliffhanger value of the end of Batman Begins, (and Jack's Version) they would have developed the Joker, a man who needs no introduction.

Resolved Question: Would Obama, Dems Kill 401(k) Plans?
OBAMA'S PLAN TO SEIZE YOUR 401K
Would Obama, Dems Kill 401(k) Plans?
October 23, 2008 10:47 AM ET | James Pethokoukis | Permanent Link | Print
I hate to use the "S" word, but the American government would never do something as, well, socialist as seize private pension funds, right? This is exactly what cash-strapped Argentina just did in the name of protecting workers' retirement accounts (Efharisto, Fausta's Blog). Now, even Uncle Sam isn't that stupid, but some Democrats might try something almost as loopy: kill 401(k) plans.
House Democrats recently invited Teresa Ghilarducci, a professor at the New School of Social Research, to testify before a subcommittee on her idea to eliminate the preferential tax treatment of the popular retirement plans. In place of 401(k) plans, she would have workers transfer their dough into government-created "guaranteed retirement accounts" for every worker. The government would deposit $600 (inflation indexed) every year into the GRAs. Each worker would also have to save 5 percent of pay into the accounts, to which the government would pay a measly 3 percent return. Rep. Jim McDermott, a Democrat from Washington and chairman of the House Ways and Means Committee's Subcommittee on Income Security and Family Support, said that since "the savings rate isn't going up for the investment of $80 billion [in 401(k) tax breaks], we have to start to think about whether or not we want to continue to invest that $80 billion for a policy that's not generating what we now say it should."
A few respectful observations:
1) McDermott is right when he says the savings rate isn't going up. But the savings rate doesn't include gains to money you invest in the stock market. It ignores the buildup of net worth. (If you bought a share of XYZ Corp. in January at $100, for instance, and its value doubled by December, the savings rate measure would still value that investment at $100. In short, the savings rate is a phony number.)
2) So based partly on the above faulty logic, the $4.5 trillion, as of the start of the year, invested in 401(k) plans doesn't count as savings.
3) Ghilarducci would have workers abandon the stock market right at the bottom of the market. A stupid idea, according to Warren Buffett: "I don't like to opine on the stock market, and again I emphasize that I have no idea what the market will do in the short term. Nevertheless, I'll follow the lead of a restaurant that opened in an empty bank building and then advertised: 'Put your mouth where your money was.' Today my money and my mouth both say equities."
4) Ghilarducci would offer a lousy 3 percent return. The long-run return of the stock market, adjusted for inflation, is more like 7 percent. Look at it this way: Ten thousand dollars growing at 3 percent a year for 40 years leaves you with roughly $22,000. But $10,000 growing at 7 percent a year for 40 years leaves you with $150,000. That is a high price to pay for what Ghilarducci describes as the removal of "a source of financial anxiety and...fruitless discussions with brokers and financial sales agents, who are also desperate for more fees and are often wrong about markets." Please, I'll take a bit of worry for an additional $128,000.
5) What effect would this plan have on an already battered stock market? Well, I would imagine it would send it even lower, sticking a shiv into the portfolios of everyone who didn't jump aboard. But I am sure the Chinese would love to jump in and buy all our cheap stocks to fund the retirement of their citizens.
My bottom line: If you believe in the long-run dynamism of the American economy, then you have to believe in the stock market. Listen to superinvestor Buffett, not the prof from the New School.
Do you think this is a good plan?

Resolved Question: Are you in favor of the FAIRNESS DOCTRINE?
For those not familiar with the Fairness Doctrine, it was a Federal Communications Commission policy that required radio and TV stations to, in effect, provide equal time on matters of public importance. A station which did not do so ran the risk of losing its broadcast license, something which Rupert Murdoch once famously compared to having a license to print money.
The Fairness Doctrine was originally intended to encourage a public dialogue on controversial issues by ensuring that both sides of a topic were aired. As a former radio and TV journalist, I can assure you that the opposite was true. Station owners were afraid that their licenses would be yanked if there was the slightest possibility that they could be accused of violating the doctrine; it was far safer to simply avoid controversial matters.
That, and its questionable constitutionality, caused the Reagan-era F.C.C. to repeal the Fairness Doctrine. Within months, Rush Limbaugh's program was nationally syndicated, and radio programming has never been the same.
Liberals often seemed perplexed by the success of conservatives in talk radio and the abject failure of liberal talk radio (see Air America, Jim Hightower, Ed Schultz, etc.), another example of how their belief in government regulation blinds them to the way the free market operates. It's the law of supply and demand. Liberals have long had multiple media outlets to turn to: government-supported PBS and NPR, the broadcast networks, the newsweeklies, the Times and the Post, and the rest of the legacy media.
Conservative talk radio has been successful, i.e. profitable--and liberal talk radio has not--because of the most basic of reasons: it supplied a market demand that was otherwise unmet. Listeners turn to conservative talk shows to meet that need. Listeners mean ratings. Ratings mean advertising revenues.

Resolved Question: Did you see that Campaign for Liberty has slim jim handouts to fight Congressmen who voted for the bailout?
If anyone wants to participate in handing these out and calling those Congressmen to task, so they know we haven't forgotten and won't forget, it's easy:
All people have to do is scroll down, click on states, find their state, then simply print the slim jims and distribute them, in parking lots or wherever.
What do you think?
Is this sort of action to hold Congress accountable worthwhile?

Voting Question: wifi network connections?
I have a Dell PC using XP and have bought a Dell Laptop using Vista. The PC modem/router is D-Link DSL504T and the wireless router is a Belkin G Router. I want to be able to access internet/email on either computer at the same time. I also have a D-Link DVG2001S phone router for voip. The instructions provided do not seem to allow this. How can I configure the routers to make it work? A diagram would be helpful if possible as well as instructions. Jim
Also can I get an attachment to allow printing with wifi from the laptop.

Report: Illegal Aliens Could Sway November Election
Says thousnds of illegals will vote in Texas
By Jim Forsyth
Thursday, October 2, 2008
A new report obtained by 1200 WOAI news indicates that illegal immigrants could vote by the hundreds of thousands in Texas and across the country, potentially swaying the election.
"Citizens of the United States would like to see their votes not diluted by those who are in this country illegally," said David Simcox, who studies voter rolls in 11 Texas counties.
Simcox says there are indications that as many as 329,000 non citizens and ineligible voters are on the rolls in Texas.
He says Harris County is the worst, with some 200,000 ineligible voters.
"We ought to sit down and decide..do we want it to stay that way...do we want to sit down and blink at violations of voter registration laws," Simcox said.
But Bexar County Elections Administrator Jackie Callanan disputed Simcox's figures. She says the state has a new database where all voters are cross checked.
"Using their drivers license or the last four digits of their Social Security Number," she said. "Our system is exceptional."
Simcox says the problem of illegal voters is not confined to Texas.
He says there are up to 235,000 illegal voters in New York, up to 113,000 in New Jersey, 209,000 in Illinois, and as many as 700,000 illegal non citizen voters in California.
He estimates that at least 1,830,000 non citizens voted in off year elections in 2006.
Simcox says he consulter several sources in compiling his figures, and he says the real problem is that the votes of citizens are being diluted when non citizens vote.
