Seattle's Historic Restaurants (WA) (Images of America)
Seattle's Historic Restaurants (WA) (Images of America) Seattle's Historic Restaurants depicts an era of nostalgia and romanticism, and highlights historic photographs of restaurants, postcards, and menus. From 1897 to 1898, thousands of so-called stampeders came through Seattle on their way to the Klondike goldfields. Hungry stampeders could purchase a meal at the Merchant's Café (the oldest café in Seattle) or one of the many restaurants nearby. For the next 25 years, those who made it rich in Seattle were the restaurateurs, shop owners, and real estate owners. Famous local landmarks such as the Space Needle, Mount Rainier's Paradise Camp, Snoqualmie Falls, and the Empress Hotel are still here, but their menus and clientele have changed over the years. Local haunts like Ivar's Acres of Clams, The Dog House, Andy's Diner, Clark's Restaurants, Coon Chicken Inn, Frederick and Nelson's Tea Room, The Wharf, Von's, The Purple Pup, and the Jolly Roger are just a few of the restaurants featured within.

The Irish Pub
The Irish Pub A perfect selection of Irish pubs that whisks readers away into the enchanting spirit of Old Ireland.Whether you want to hide away in the Wicklow Hills, cradling a glass of beer in a wood-paneled snug; gather round a turf fire, serenaded by fiddle players; or sip quietly in the cubby hole of a Victorian bar in the center of Dublin, this book takes you into pubs that epitomize the essential charm of Old Ireland.

In this cheerful celebration, more than 250 photographs capture the essence of pubs from every part of Ireland. Open Question: Anyone know where I can buy A & W Sparkling Vanilla Cream Soda?
I've looked at my local grocery stores and can't find it anywhere. Also, I live near a A & W "Restaurant". Does anyone know if they might have it? Lol, I rarely go there so I just want to know for sure if they have it if I end up going there. Thanks in advance! (more...)

Open Question: Is a restaurant menu considered copyrighted material?
Is a restaurant menu considered copyrighted material? I would like to make a local menu listing on my web site, where you'd be able to search for food by the restaurant, dish, or whatever, and I'd love to know if that's legal for me to do. I could ask for permission, but that would involve stopping by several hundred restaurants and talking with individual owners, which could take me months of work. If I don't have to ask permission legally, I'd rather just go ahead with it. I'm only interested in solid information. Advice stating that I "should" go ask is already understood, but there's 400 restaurants in my area and I'm trying to find a way around approaching all these places, as the ones I've already tried visiting have usually required me to come back later, etc. (more...)

Open Question: Would you marry me? ?
This is a hypothetical question, I will be exact and honest and you tell me if you would marry me. I am a bright 23yo, I live in the northern suburbs, Adelaide South Australia, and have lots of good qualities about me, and some big downfalls too, but so does everyone. Apperence:, slim, medium length natural blond hair, green eyes, pretty, i wear make up almost every day, i just like to take pride in how i look. Work: i work for a state government MP, as a trainee, i have only 8 months let of the traineeship though and i will be out of work for a couple of mouths or until i can find another job. What I like to do for fun: I like to go bowling, coffee at café?s, eating out at restaurants, cinemas, quiet nights in watching DVDs, I love the beach, though I don?t get to go very often, visiting friends and doing all of the above with them. im not a clubing girl nor do i like partying, I don?t drive yet or have a car but I will be getting one soon, and im starting my p plate driving lessons on Saturday, Yay! About me: I have panic and anxiety disorder, insomnia disorder and I cant really travel long distances, anymore than an hour away from me and I cant do it. my anxiety disorder stops me from doing most things by myself, I cant go into a shopping centre, can?t wait in the car, cant go around the block, I cant go in a couple of isles wile someone waits for me in the shop, etc by myself, iv been in therapy for a year but have come a long way, I am starting to very slowly do things by myself, like I can go into my local shop by myself wile my friend waits in the car or I can go pay bills in the outside shops at my work, but I still have a long journey ahead of me. I have anxiety disorder because I was attacked and robed almost 4 years ago, and that resulted in post traumatic stress, its also because of my mum too. I love animals, I care about things in this world, like helping people, I feel it is so important to help someone who has a problem, it make such I difference in someone?s life if you fix or help with something they can?t. I love giving my time and money to charitable causes, even though I don?t have much. And im just I very bright bubbly person who cares and love everyone around me. So with what you know about me & my anxiety, and other negatives, would you marry me? if you answer this question, you need to put your answer and teel me why. this question is only for men, ow unless your a lesbian then its ok for you to answer. only serious answers please. Open Question: joke!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!?
Discovering too late that a watermelon spiked with vodka had accidentally been served to a luncheon meeting of local ministers, the restaurant's owner waited nervously for the clerics' reaction. "Quick, man," he whispered to the waiter, "What did they say?" "Nothing," replied the waiter. "They were all too busy slipping the seeds into their pockets." (more...)

Open Question: Do you know the title of this book?
It's a book that I read a while ago (Possibly over a year ago), and I think that the book title was something along the lines of "Can't Get From Here to There" or "From Here to There", I tried Googling both those titles and they came up with books completely different than what I was looking for. Because I read it so long ago I can't remember the plot very well, but I know it was a group of homeless teenagers, and one went to work in some place (I think it was a stingy old restaurant) and the man told her that if she did some cleaning for him (Dishes were involved) then she could stay the night & have full access to the bathrooms & food, but after she did all the cleaning (I remember that there was a lot of dishes), the man turned around (Possibly hit her, can't remember) and said he never agreed to such a thing and kicked her out of his place (Possibly also insulting her, can't remember). I also remember that there was about 5 of them in the group, and one of them died, and one went back to his parents (I think they were orphans, POSSIBLY.), and they also gained some more people. But, I do remember that they also stole from the local store and other people and stuff like that. If anyone could tell me the title or author (Even if it isn't correct), that would be great, I think it's a slightly old-ish book (Not too old, I think early 2000-2004, sometime between there, maybe.) As you can see I'm not too sure on any of the details, but any help would be greatly appreciated. I liked the book, and would love to read it again (I borrowed it from my local library, and have tried searching the names but nothing came up!) Thankyou! The homeless don't really have any reason or anything they're searching for. They kind of just live together to keep each other company and stuff. I don't think it is the Homecoming series, but thanks anyway. THANKYOU SO MUCH, THAT IS THE BOOK I WAS LOOKING FOR, I hate my library search, it didn't come up! (more...)

Open Question: Algebra I- Equation Word Problem thing.. Help!!?
I really need help with this! I need some help before 10:00 you guys! Plz help me out! The owner of the Green Pepper, a local restaurant, offers you a deal that is also based on a flat rate for the use of a party room and a per-person rate to feed each guest. After meeting with this restaurant owner, you are looking over your notes and realize that you forgot to write down the room rental charge and per-meal cost. In your notes, however, you have some infromation that can help you reconstruct this information: 50 guests would cost $487.50, 75 guests would cost $706.25 and 110 guests would cost $1012.50. * Can you use the above information to determine the FLAT RATE for the PARTY ROOM RENTAL and the PER PERSON COST for each meal? [ This requirs some good mathematical "detective work"] Come on you guys! I know someone knows how to do this! Please help me out! Will really appreciate it, thanks! Oh yea, if you are familiar with the y-intercept formula, you should be able to get this easily! y-intercept formula is : y= mx +b (more...)

Open Question: Know of a scenic, affordable venue for an intimate outdoor wedding ceremony near York, Pennsylvania (PA)?
We are hoping to have a small outdoor wedding ceremony (with only 8 - 20 guests) sometime during the weekend of August 1st, 2009, near York, Pennsylvania. We wouldn't mind having it on Friday (July 31st) or Sunday (August 2nd), if those days are discounted, but would prefer to have it in the evening. Our goal is to find a local, scenic outdoor venue for less than $1000 ceremony site fee. We are desperately seeking a nicely landscaped area... gardens, fountains, a forest, an open field, a winery, an orchard, a restaurant next to the river -- it doesn't matter as long as it's a beautiful spot, affordable, private, and close enough to York (ideally no more than an hour or so away). Privacy is VERY important to us; we would prefer to have no onlookers (which is why state parks aren't really an option). We have already checked out Hershey Gardens, but would like to find something more private. Please help! Any recommendations that fit these guidelines would be very useful. (more...)

Open Question: How does Yahoo do a local search for restaurants or any other business?

Open Question: what does it take to get discovered or recruited for big, well paying companies without school?
im often told that i have what it takes 2 be successful. im young (20 years old guy), hard working, full of energy, gung ho, great with people, always in a good mood, always have a smile on my face (even when im mad on the inside), and so on. ive made my fair share of mistakes when i was younger. arrested at 16 for a misdemeanor (which was kept off my official record after completing some classes) and at 18 for a felony (case was dropped, no charges filed but still shows up on my background check), started doing poorly in school from my sophomore year on but still managed 2 graduate thanks 2 my 3.3 GPA freshman year. attending community college part time but rarely go due 2 working full-time and have a GPA of 1.1 - 1.7. i had my first job at 14 at a local restaurant and worked there for 4 years. it was a small mom and pop place so i did everything but cook. 18 was a off year and didnt get my next job until 19 where i am currently. within 6 months i established myself as the best worker and started training 2 be the assistant night time manager (my job is graveyard shift and involves stocking shelves/putting up freight delivered 2 safeway). by my 1 year anniversary at safeway (september) my promotion became official and here i am. its hard 2 really focus on school since i would usually go after work and sometimes i would be 2 physically drained 2 go and my grades reflect that. the veterans of safeway always tell me "this place is NOT a career, unless you go all the way 2 the top". im told that safeway's management training program is 1 of the best and if you pass the training you will automatically start off in management at whatever job you go 2. that is my current plan right now but ive heard that the higher up you go on the safeway ladder, the less secure your job becomes and you can be fired at anytime without a reason needed since you dont belong 2 a union. also currently the most i can make is about 20$ a hour, $38400 a year. thats GREAT for my age but im already looking ahead. i also want 2 expand my horizons, beat the odds, and truly be successful. i dont possess all the skills that are needed but i have yet 2 fail when given an opportunity 2 learn and try. there are many philosophies i live by everyday and i hold my morals VERY highly. lead by example not words, live a life you can be proud 2 tell people about, dont start on something you wont finish, etc. and another thing is that i KNOW for a fact im good. i just dont know how 2 show it 2 the people that matter and are holding all the cards. what should i do? Open Question: Restaurant repairs it's door with a screw protruding and causes injury, what laws help?
A local national chain restaurant had a broken door which had a board put over the door. The door had a screw protruding through which ripped my coat and poked my arm. Not really injured, but mad because the screw pokes out about an inch and could easily blind a child (it's at a 10 year olds eye level). No signs, and after management was told they didn't repair. I took pictures of door and screw. What are my legal road to teach this company to be safe? Is there a legal precedence that states "company is liable even if the worst case scenario didn't happen". Law experts and students please help!!! It could have been a child. (more...)
