Open Question: Funny joke...........................?
A guy goes into a restaurant, is sat down and the waiter comes over to serve him. The guy notices that the waiter has a spoon in his top pocket. He is intrigued, so asks: Why do have a spoon in your top pocket? The waiter says: We had a time & motion study a couple of weeks ago, and they said that we spent too much time getting clean cutlery for customers, and that as customers mainly dropped spoons, we should carry a spare to save time. Ah, I see. A little while later, the guy notices a small piece of string hanging out of the waiters trouser zip. Excuse me, but why do you have a piece of string hanging out of your zipper? Ah. That time & motion study we had done a couple of weeks ago, also noticed that staff spent an average of 15mins using the toilet. As most of it was washing hands after, they recommended that we don't actually touch our members. So we don't touch it, we use the string to pull them out, so we don't have to wash our hands, and it saves time. Oh. A little while later the guy is a little perplexed. He calls over the waiter and asks him. I couldn't help thinking about what you said, and one question springs to mind. You say you pull out your members, to use the toilet by using the string yes? Yes. But how do you get it back in, without touching it then? ....... Well I can't speak for everyone, but I use the spoon. (more...)

Open Question: Where's a nice resort to stay at in Ft. Lauderdale, FL.?
My wife and I have stayed at the Lauderdale Beachside Hotel before and it was very nice with a great location. The beachside bar is alot of fun too. Does anyone know of any another fun resorts to stay at that are on the beach, and have some good restaurants within walking distance. We're looking for a fun place to fly to this spring that doesn't require us to rent a car to get around. (more...)

Open Question: Where is the best place to sit at Hohokam park in Mesa Arizona?
I am going to a spring training game on March 9th, at 3 p.m. and I tend to get sunburned easily. What side of the stadium might be in the shade at that point of the day? Also, are there any good mom and pop restaurants to try there in Mesa, or is it all just chains? (more...)

Open Question: Will I lose weight from this diet?
Every morning I have oatmeal with a very small amount of 2% milk with a banana and berries (strawberries or blueberries) in it. I snack on fruit, nuts, and sometimes veggies with light ranch. I did have some unsalted tortilla chips with salsa and re-fried beans yesterday though. for lunch I have an egg white sandwich which consists of whole wheat bread, avocado, and tomatoes. On the side I have a spring mix salad with a light dressing, tomatoes, and avocado. for dinner I have the same thing as lunch or sometimes I have grilled chicken breast and broccoli instead of the egg white sandwich. for dessert I either have some fruit or I have a banana with a little peanut butter on it. I only drink water, no sodas or juices. I havent been working out but I walk tons at work because I'm a hostess and have to show people to their tables and its a huge restaurant. Oh that reminds me... sometimes at work I get 2 small pieces of whole wheat bread and put honey on it.... Will I lose weight like this? ok someone said to cut back on fat and have more protein? wow.. umm... I dont really see any fat in my diet (only good fats like nuts, avocados, and beans) and tons of protein. (grilled chicken breast, egg whites, beans) thanks for trying though. Im a 20 year old female and weigh 120. im trying to weigh like 110 (more...)

Open Question: Farnsworth House in Gettysburg? Ghost Picture?
We spent a week in PA this spring, and took a tour of the Farnsworth House in Gettysburg. I've never really been one to believe in ghosts, but I can't help but be so intrigued by what happened while we were there. I went on the tour with my Dad and younger brother, so it was pretty interesting. The first hour was fine for me but I was obviously very uneasy about the whole thing despite loving ghost stories etc, and I felt prickly all over while in the attic. After the attic part was over and I was a little bit settled down we headed down to the basement, the guide started telling his stories etc, and told how if you hear talking its just the restaurant upstairs (its a bed and breakfast/tavern also). Suddenly out of no where I heard laughing and I looked around to figure out where it was coming from, it sounded like directly behind me but there was nothing there but a wall, and I finally realized that my Dad and brother were staring at the same spot. I asked them if they heard that and they said yes, and we were all confused because it definitely didn't come from upstairs as it wasn't muffled and it was directly behind us. I tried to explain to them how it sounded, like it was almost in another dimension or something, and they agreed. It creeped me out a little bit so I started fidgeting but eventually that part of the tour was over and I headed up front to take a picture of the elaborate set up (1800's seance type display) with my digital camera. I took the picture and my camera shut off, despite the batteries being full. I was confused and was fooling with the camera trying to get it to work but I was holding up everyone behind me so I walked out of the basement with a dead camera and I turned it back on after I was out and it was perfectly fine, but when it turned back on, it had a strange picture on it. It really was interesting because it was completely pitch black down in the basement except for some candles, and I didn't use a flash because I wanted the natural candle light. I was shuddered by the picture when I realized that it just didn't make sense, and I looked to see the battery was still completely full. After the tour was over I showed the guide and he told me it was definitely a picture of a ghost, but I still am undecided on whether or not they actually exist. While on the tour of East Cemetary Hill I got great pictures of alot of orbs, even a red one. So it was pretty cool all in all, but what do you think of this picture? http://xs135.xs.to/xs135/09021/vacation_196452.jpg Sorry if that's a little lengthy but thanks for the interest! (more...)

Resolved Question: What are some fun things to do in Washington D.C.?
My government class is going to D.C. in the spring, and I was wondering what are some fun things to do on our free day. I went with my family to visit my aunt that lives on the air force base, so I got to see some really neat things there, but I was wondering what are some good restaurants (that are not too expensive) and some other cool stuff to see. Open Question: Does anyone know of what a great chinese takeout restaurant is in Colorado Springs?

Resolved Question: My fiancee is needy and sometimes emotionally abusive. It's been one year and I think I'm getting cold feet.?
When we first got together, we would talk for hours, but now I can barely stand talking to him for 1 hour a day. I've tried to tell him that calling every other day would be better because then more stuff would have happened and I'd have more to talk about, but he throws a huge fit about it and insists on talking every single day. However, when I have nothing to talk about, he gets upset with me. That is extremely frustrating. When I am faced with a new opportunity such as opening a restaurant with my uncle, getting a new job, going to a new college, or even going on a vacation, he throws a fit about it because he feels that I won't be able to fit everything in the equation, everything always meaning him. Whenever we fight, he always calls me inconsiderate, blaming me for hurting him and never thinking about him in anything I do. If I didn't care, I wouldn't tell him anything new, right? I know he is jealous about some of these things because when I told him about the trip I am taking with my grandmother across the country in the spring, he threw a big fit saying things like "I haven't been on vacation since I was 17", or "Those were some places that I was going to take you when we get to go on vacation". The fact that this may be the final long period of time I get to spend with my grandmother does not seem to hit home. Not to mention I have not been on a trip since I was 16 because I've been working and going to school ever since then (I went straight to college after high school). I tried to please him, by turning down the new job opportunity, holding off on the business opportunity with my uncle, etc. Now I am broke, practically jobless because my current job barely has any hours, and frustrated. When we are to get together and do something, it is ALWAYS up to me to decide what to do. Most of the time what I end up planning doesn't suit his mood and he acts like an unappreciative bastard. When I tell him to think for himself for once and plan what he wants to do, he throws a big fit about that and claims that he absolutely cannot do that. He never even tries, so how would he know? If he was in the Eagle Scouts, in charge of projects as he claims, why can't he take the initiative to plan a date? As for the emotionally abusive part, he always has to cut me down about something whenever we are together. Whether it be correcting me on a fact, showing me up about anything he knows more about than I, I just feel that anything I say is up for criticism. Whenever we are alone together, I feel like he treats me like a piece of ass, whether it be grabbing my chest, my butt, or grinding against me when we cuddle on the couch. It's sickening because I feel that only one thing is on his mind. I feel that our connection stops on the physical level because we are two completely different levels mentally. Sometimes it seems like I have to slam a board composed of reality over his head to get my point across. What happened to the being able to talk for hours? We used to be able to connect like glue. We used to seem so in tune with each other, but was it simply infatuation? I need some solid advice because I either want to postpone the wedding date or terminate this relationship entirely. It's getting so bad for me that I have been acting ill to avoid spending time with him. He drains me emotionally and spiritually and he never sees what he does to me hurts like hell. Serious answers, please. This is too serious to attempt being cool or funny. (more...)

Open Question: Can you help me narrow my list of colleges?
I will be applying as a transfer student for Fall 2009. I would like to narrow my list to include schools that fulfill ALL (or almost all) of the following criteria: 1. Good undergraduate English program 2. Creative writing track available, or several good creative writing classes offered 3. Secondary education teacher certification offered 4. Decent reputation 5. Not too small (my high school had 3000 students, so anything about as big or larger sounds appealing) 6. Many live off campus (I would like a traditional school in which most students live in dorms, though I plan to live off campus with my fiance so I would like there to be some commuters, perhaps 20-40%.) 7. Good public transportation (I don't have a car, so the availability of buses in the area is important. If they're free for students, even better!) 8. Stable weather, preferably warm (Not all the schools on my list fit this, but I would prefer a climate warmer than the one I'm used to.) 9. Decent nightlife (like I said, I plan to live off campus, so a nice town or city with restaurants, movie theaters, museums, bars, etc. is preferable. Not that I don't plan to participate in campus activities, but since my fiance will be done with school by then, I'm looking for things to do outside of the school environment.) About me: - didn't graduate from high school, but earned a GED instead, and applied to college soon after. - been in college for 2 semesters so far (started last spring) - Currently attend Binghamton University (I'm a New York state resident, but I'm looking for schools that are mostly out of state) - current cumulative GPA: 3.276, though I will try to raise it to a 3.346 with a course I am taking this winter break. My GPA was 3.676 after my first semester, but I took an extra class this previous semester and had a hard time carrying the load, so my GPA went down =/ - SAT: 1950 (Critical Reading 680, Math 600, Writing 670), but I hope to improve when I retake it this month. Finally, my list so far (in no particular order): Boston U Clemson College of Charleson Rhodes Tulane UC Berkeley UCLA UC San Diego ? other UCs? U of Iowa UMich UNC CH UNC Asheville UNC Charlotte UNCW UT Austin UVa Wake Forest Rice? St. Mary's College of Maryland? U of Arizona? UC's? Davis, Irvine, Santa Barbara, Santa Cruz, etc. Carleton? Grinnell? U of Georgia? University of Wisconsin--Madison? College of William and Mary? University of Wisconsin--Madison? NC State?? Elon? U of Florida? others?? I was originally looking at schools like UPenn, UChicago, Duke, Vanderbilt, etc. but since my GPA went down I figured these schools were too out of reach. What do you guys think? Would they take someone like me? What would be a compelling hook? If you're read this far, thanks so much! I look forward to giving the best answer to someone who really (and thoroughly) helps me out, and I really REALLY appreciate it!! By the way, I'm pretty liberal. Isn't GWU kind of conservative in terms of the student body? (more...)
