The Moody Blues - A Night at Red Rocks with the Colorado Symphony Orchestra
The Moody Blues - A Night at Red Rocks with the Colorado Symphony Orchestra A Night at Red Rocks, taped in Colorado's gorgeous natural amphitheater in 1992, is an ambitious undertaking for these still-stomping rock dinosaurs: the classic Moody Blues lineup playing with the Colorado Symphony Orchestra and no safety net. The band rises to the occasion, giving fans a solid if sentimental survey of its long and prosperous career. The performances and the material vary in quality, but the group comes through where it counts. Hits like "The Voice," "The Story in Your Eyes," and "Nights in White Satin" sound great, as does "Question," the Moodys' greatest contribution to rock music.

The Symphony plays well, but the group misses some prime opportunities to use it, adhering to synth parts where an orchestra would have worked nicely (most notably in the rocking "Gemini Dream"). There's no surround mix here, but band leaders Justin Haywood and John Lodge deserve kudos for their able sound mixing. --Michael Mikesell

Land of the Red Rocks: Utah, Arizona, and Colorado
Land of the Red Rocks: Utah, Arizona, and Colorado Splendidly colored and fantastically shaped, the red rocks of the American Southwest dominate this 51-minute tape as they do the Four Corners area. Narrator Roy Conrad begins at the beginning, with the Earth's formation, and then lands viewers in modern-day Sedona, Arizona, to start the tour, aided by a series of unidentified tourists, park rangers, and apparent experts. Each area is identified by map and then visited by the camera, with considerable time spent at the enormous artificial Lake Powell, created by the building of the Glen Canyon Dam. Next stop is Utah's Canyonlands, and Zion and Bryce National Parks, the latter known for its "hoodoos"--humanlike figures of pink rock. In a remote pocket on the floor of the Grand Canyon, viewers meet a Native American tribe who operate a lodge and campground. In contrast, Colorado's Mesa Verde offers stunning remains of the cliffside apartments that supported more than 400 Anasazi people before they mysteriously vanished. Viewers get a look at some of the 15,000 petroglyphs decorating rocks within the Albuquerque city limits, and then it's back to Sedona for spiritual quests. It's a whirlwind tour that will leave armchair travelers wanting to see more. --Kimberly Heinrichs

Voting Question: I injured my shoulder snowboarding yesterday.....?
Yesterday I went boarding at Keystone resort in Colorado. On my way down, I decided to go down a black diamond. I go down that one a lot - I knew the run inside and out, but as soon as I came up a powdery dip a teenager (typical pimple-faced bright board and snowsuit guy) and his buddies yelled GRAFFDLEBORGH or something along the lines of that, and I fell. I couldn't get back up the dip, so I unlatched my bindings and made my way to the top of the dip. When I latched back in and made my way down, it seemed steeper. I swerved to the right and hit a rock that happened to be covered in snow. I fell on my side, and fell down backwards. I threw out my arm, but it went behind my head. That hurt a LOT because I was still moving when it happened, and I could feel the bone on the snow. I just sat there for a while, but decided to get back up and keep going. People what were passing me on the lift kept saying things like "ooh that sucks." and laughing. I finally made it to the bottom, but I could barely move my arm. when I did, it hurt. My family is in no position to take me to the hospital right now. The only reason I got to go was because my VERY generous friend bought me a season pass in response to my parent's divorce. I'm 13. Resolved Question: freeze-proof windshield?
Hello All, I live in Colorado where winter temperatures frequently drop below freezing overnight. Unfortunately this seems to have a negative impact on windshields; the freezing temperatures cause the glass to crack. I've replaced 4 windshields (totaling over $1000) in the last 10 years (none of them caused by rocks or collision). My windshield has cracked again, and yet again I must purchase a replacement (which will no doubt crack again in the next year or two). Does anyone know if there is a better windshield I can buy; something that is designed to withstand subzero temperatures? Is there anything I can do to a normal windshield to increase its resistance to freezing and cracking? (more...)

Open Question: Has anyone done business with EZ Credit Warehouse?
I recently financed a new Restonic queen sized bed through a company called EZ Credit Warehouse. A few days after I received the bed, I received a call from someone who said that they were with Majr Financial in Colorado and were the ones financing my bed. They were calling to confirm all of my information to make sure they had everything right for my payments. It was set up so that my payments would be due on the 20th of every month. Today, I received a statment in the mail from a company called Oak Rock Financial in New York regarding the financing of my bed. It said that the seller of my bed was Fairplay Financial and that my payment would be due on the 15th of every month. I am TOTALLY confused and I don't like this at all. It's like 2 different finance companies are trying to get me to send in 2 separate payments due on different dates. Does anyone have any information on this? I don't even know who to contact to find out who is actually financing my bed and where to mail my payments to. Please help! (more...)

Resolved Question: What do you think about this personal statement?
I'm applying to PA school at Red Rocks Community College in Denver, here is my personal statement. Any comments would be appreciated. In mathematics, the shortest distance between two points may be a straight line, but the route that has led me to apply to the Physician Assistant Program at Red Rocks Community College has been neither short nor straight. Instead, it has been a long, winding path. While majoring in mathematics at Western State College, I applied for an internship at State University of New York at Buffalo for students who wanted to learn about biomedical research. The goal of the program was to integrate the sciences and draw upon other disciplines. I applied to the program hoping I would find a way to incorporate my passion for both biology and math into a future career. Upon acceptance to the program, I worked with Dr. Armando Arroyo who was an Ob/Gyn researching the GnRH neuron. While the research aspect of the program was amazing, what I found most thrilling was the clinical aspect of Dr. Arroyo?s career. On several occasions, he allowed me to accompany him during his clinical rounds. I completed the internship in awe of what doctors do on a daily basis and the difference they make in the world. I returned to Colorado with a passion for health care and entered a CNA training program that allowed me to gain valuable experience while completing my bachelor?s degree. I was nervous when I first entered the program, wondering if I would be able to handle all of the personal care duties that are required of a CNA. However, when I actually started working, I found I enjoyed this type of work because it allows me to give of myself to my patients. As I gained experience working as a CNA, I decided to further my education by taking an EMT-B course. I find emergency medicine to be incredibly rewarding and thrive on the challenges it presents. Now when we have a code blue on the floor, I want to be a part of it and help in any way possible. I love the quick thinking and teamwork required and the knowledge that the critical decisions we make can determine the difference between life and death. I am eager to expand on my medical training so I can increase my knowledge and take on even greater levels of responsibility in patient care. My winding path has led me to the Physician Assistant Program at RRCC, where I know I will succeed in learning to provide a broad range of health care services. The PA program fits very well with what I have accomplished and what I want to achieve out of life. I know I will be a compassionate, caring, and competent physician assistant and that I will continue to make a difference in people?s lives. After graduation from the Physician Assistant Program, I plan to return to the rural, small town communities I grew up in?where PAs are often the primary care providers?so I can help those who helped me growing up. Voting Question: LGBT: heres the rough draft ?
i hope you like it. okay the main character is dreaming and he hears a knock on a door. he answers it and its his crush, zack. they decide to go to the store to get cigarettes. and then they also have the police after him. zack is a suspect to the murder of his sister. i know he didn't do it but the police says so. they leave and have to meet someone in jacksonville. they are in miami. when they go to jacksonville they need to go to denver colorado. they leave and get into an argument while driving. they park near a river and zack gets out and sits on a rock and starts crying. i get out of the car and grab him he grabs me back and we both start crying. i said don't worry we will find that basterd. then there is a more soft hearted part. it takes place at a holiday inn and then there is a rejection part. sorry i would love to post the rest but i was told not to since it could be stolen. im real sorry. so what do you think. in the end they're going to have to go all over the world to find the person there looking for. but since this is online and you can review it many times, you can figure the ending. so im going to say it. the first words are saying that he is dreaming. how many people forgot he was dreaming? the last words would be, "Then i woke up." Original huh? thanks for the comments ill start revising and editing right away thanks again! i dont mind the comments but like i said before its not an actual story yet. i was posting what had happened and what was going to happen. the story is not like what i posted, its just a quick over view.
