Obsidian Alliances (Star Trek Mirror Universe, Bk. II)

Some say the line between good and evil is narrower than we imagine -- a divide as subtle as a mirror, and perhaps just as deep. To peer into its black, reflective glass is to know the dark potential we each possess, and we cross that obsidian boundary at our peril . . . into a world where we no longer recognize who we are or what we believed ourselves capable of.
In the late twenty-fourth century, decades after the fall of the once-mighty Terran Empire, the Klingon-Cardassian Alliance dominates the worlds that, in another reality, made up the United Federation of Planets. Humanity and its former subject races are now bound together by their shared oppression, slaves to their cruel and brutal conquerors. But a downtrodden few have found the courage and the strength of will to act. Inspired by visitors from another continuum to fight for their freedom, they have rekindled hope . . . and rediscovered an ancient truth: that every revolution begins with a vision.
Star Trek: VOYAGER ® A rebel ship commanded by a former slave named Chakotay attempts to evade pursuit in the Badlands . . . only to encounter a strange ship that was catapulted seventy thousand light-years across the galaxy. On board the craft are two aliens, one of whom has the potential to completely alter the balance of power within the Alliance. But as both sides of the struggle race to get to the stranger first, treachery throws all schemes into a tailspin.
Star Trek: NEW FRONTIER ® Following the Terran Empire's collapse, its longtime rival, the Romulan Star Empire, has absorbed many of the fringe civilizations spread across that part of the galaxy. One of the Romulans' slaves is M'k'nzy of Calhoun, a savage and unpredictable Xenexian who dreams of death . . . and who learns the value of freedom from the unlikeliest of teachers, a Romulan named Soleta.
Star Trek: DEEP SPACE NINE ® One fallen dictator's struggle to regain her power and her position leads to the discovery of a bold rebel plan for a decisive military strike against the Alliance. But while Kira Nerys navigates the dangerous road of politics, sex, and military intrigue that she believes will lead her back to reclaiming the Intendancy, cracks form in the rebel leadership, leading to a showdown that will change the course of the Mirror Universe.

Resolved Question: Are Nostradamus's prophecies true?
I have been researching some things about Nostradamus and I am wondering if anything he said was true or not? Like how Sweden came up with a machine that could make black holes that could swallow the earth whole or shoot out into space and land on Saturn and how it could become a black hole, the Russian prime minister describing him as the Anti-Christ and how he will have an alliance with China and Iran etc. Does this actually mean anything at all or is it just a scam to scare everybody?

Voting Question: Would you be upset if you received this letter from your childcare provider?
Here is the letter. How upset would you be if you received this letter around thanksgiving and you were expecting to give birth to your second child in January, and you will not get pay for your maternity leave. Please be honest.
Dear ________and__________,
I wanted to let you know that I have to make some changes due to our current financial situation. I know we originally agreed upon $10/day, but starting in January, I will need to change it to $60/week minimum per child. It is necessary for me to have a weekly minimum of $60 for all 5 spots, regardless of attendance, so that I have a certain amount I can count on every month. I really hate to do this, as I had hoped that with the other families coming full time, that would be enough to cover expenses, and I could charge the same as we had been doing on occasion. However, I underestimated what I would need to bring in, and we are actually going negative each month. If I can receive the minimum of $60/child, I can continue to do this. Otherwise, I really will have to find a full-time job. With 2 children, I can lower it to $100/week (or $200/2 weeks) regardless of attendance, to give you a bit of a discount.
I hope you understand, as I?m dealing with circumstances beyond my control. I am telling you now, in order to give you plenty of time to plan, and do what is best for your family. If you need help paying for childcare, I believe you may be able to receive assistance. I will look into what I need to do to accept vouchers. Here is some more information below. I hope that you will continue to bring _________, as I really enjoy watching him. I am also very much looking forward to watching ___________in the future. Just let me know what you decide to do. Hopefully, we can get everything worked out. Let me know if you think you can make the payment for both boys, or if you find something else that works out better, so I can plan what I need to do. If you don?t think you can pay on a weekly basis (e.g. $200/2 weeks), I will have to fill the spots with other children. I could still provide part-time care as space allows, but it won?t be guaranteed. If I can?t fill the spots, I will need to look for a full-time job.
Sincerely, __________

Voting Question: LOL. Does this story suck? :D?
Oof,I wrote this in 5 minutes, NO,I'm not expecting this to go anywhere,I just wanna know if it kept you reading,or at least if it was sorta funny. Maybe. .////. I talk too much, sorry.
-----------
4:05 sharp. The big hand was exactly between the 1 and the 2 of 12. I was almost proud of my observation but then I realized that the rest of my friends were working on homework and being productive,so I felt a little silly.
I spaced out a little more and stared around the small school library. Such a nice library...
It took me a little while to notice my friends getting up and leaving. ACK! I started to stuff my books into my backpack when I noticed some dude walking towards me. I think I know him,I said to myself. I've talked to him before, yeah,he's nice.
While doing my little analysis,it occurred to me that there was a dance tomorrow. Oh god, what if he's gonna ask me to go? Hah,but he can't do THAT,he must know by now that I HATE dances, since I keep yelling it in the hallways. Plus,we barely know each other,so it's just not in the realm of possibility, right?
"Hey,um,do you wanna go to the dance with me?"
Damn it.
I stared at him for a few seconds, and I guess it was an uncomfortable stare, since he immediately said after that "Y-your friend asked me to ask you."
Oh NO she didn't.
Totally ignoring the guy in front of me,I start stomping around looking around for my "friend". And sure enough, she was next to a bookcase behind me.
"Hee hee,um,hi,"
"Did you CON him into asking me?"
"Well,I thought you needed romance in your life! You barely do slows with boys, you're not going out with anyone,I NEEDED to do something!"
There she goes again. Obviously she does not appreciate the fact that I'm a late bloomer, and would rather read about romance than experience it. Just like my mother. Sometimes I scare myself and think what would happen if they formed an alliance against my will.
"Well,are you gonna answer him?"
I snapped back to reality and turned around. Oh,oops, forgot about him. He was a little pudgy, and only came up to my bust, which was bound to cause some awkwardness. I'd love to have him as a little brother, but to have to go to a dance with him? Well,it wasn't like I had a choice.
"Sure,I'll,um,go with you,but only as friends,mind you."
My friend smiled. She smiled because deep down, she knew she won.
"Yeah,we can go as friends."He said. I felt a little sorry for him, since he was forced to ask me. Of course,if he LIKED me,I might be crushing his expectations. Right then, the bell rang and I had to leave.
I spent the rest of the night wondering why on earth I couldn't remember his name before and now I feel as he's a huge obstacle that I have to jump over.
I fell asleep before finding the answer.
------
There it is. Sorry that it's super long ./////. You can criticise if you want,I already know it's horrible. So long, peeps.
