this question about light bulbs,is a bit deep but how can the government ban a light bulb ?? even if the light bulb uses up 2,000 Watt bulb if im paying for it,but you who cannot think,just a few more things beside WHO makes more cash from the change over and if the bulb is any better for the environment or not,but i dint like the idea of destroying matter to get energy but some fools say it is safe (just like the tobacco company's said 40 years ago)but if it is better for the environment then it is ok to use old style light bulbs ?? what if you have Solar power ?? what if i trade in my baths and not care about my smell can i then use the energy for more wast full equipment ?? as for the issue of global warming we have been told from school (for me im 43 now and i didn't learn anything) that there will be a ice age soon why?? they didn't just assume it they looked at the evidence and it is a fact this is a ice planet well over 50% of its life it has been frozen,but we seem to think this planet was set up JUST RIGHT FOR US and not pola bears can some one work out what the average temperature for the last 1,000,000,000 years has been and tell me is it hotter or colder ??it all dint matter anyway the governments will take the cash off us 1 way or another we need our nuclear subs built :) (more...)

I want to put a 5000K (because anything over 6000K is illegal) HID kit in my truck for the low beams but well the truck is'nt worth that much and i don't exactly have that much money to spend on this. i found a set of HIDs for a 1999-2006 silverado (http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT&item=370135537135) on ebay but my trucks a 2000 c2500 so its the same body style as the 1998 silverado. my question is, this ebayer says its 9006 bulbs and so is my truck for the lows. will this kit work? are all the plugs the same?... I know you get what you pay for so i don't want to hear that. this guy seems pretty trusted..... im not buying projector lamps as that would throw me anywhere from 400-1000 dollars. (more...)

I bought this really neat lamp at a flea market, but once I got it home I realized the electrical plug and the light bulb socket are not US compatible. I know that there are adapters to convert the electrical plug so it can be used in the US, but do they make adapters for light bulb sockets as well?? I've tried to find a socket converter online, but so far all I've been able to find are converters that change the light bulb socket into an electrical outlet, or to make your light dim-able, etc...Nothing to convert the socket to accept a different style of light bulb :( The socket on this lamp is unlike any I've ever seen. It's not a screw-in socket, there are just these two prongs that stick up from the center of the socket as if the lamp would be "plugged in" to the light bulb. So, does anyone know if there are light bulb socket converters/adapters to make a foreign light bulb socket US compatible, and where to get one? ...Or will I have to just settle on getting a replacement lamp kit? This one is acting up and last time the bulb blew the metal fixture got stuck and the glass came away, its difficult to get a good grip on it as its so high up and Im not used to bayonet lightbulbs anyway, i tried to get it out just now but it seemed a bit stuck so i dont want to jam it like last time. so, whats the trick? push it up and turn left? or is it turn right? i thought it was left but it didnt seem to go very easy so again didnt want to force it. ie last time it broke. So yeah - all the lights (in all rooms that is) seem to dim frequently and only for a moment. Same way as if you used to turn on a TV or start an appliance. And hey, it's an apartment building so it's not like I'm going to be able to change anything power wise. I've gotten to the part where I am supposed to rotate the so-called "lug nut" to the left to release the bulb. The problem is that it is on the driver's side and the battery is cramping my style. I have bruised my hands for an hour trying to rotate that thing and it won't budge. I have tried to get pliers in there but that does not work at all. Does anyone have any advice? I really don't want to have to remove the battery but if someone knows how, I will give it a last ditch effort. (more...)

The head lights wont come on when you pull the knob out. interior lights on the dash and the turn signal lights on outside come on. i have replaced the bulbs and have checked the fuses. They still do not work... i don't know what else to do? I have 2 touch lamps that thanks to the bulbs blowing no longer work as such. Have had them repaired before and was expensive and if I do so again I know that they will probably go again! At present we have to switch them on/off from the mains socket which is a bit of a nuisance as they're used as bedside lamps. Needless to say the dimmer function no longer works but can live with that. Thought I may be able to salvage them by putting in an on/off switch directly on to the power cord like traditional table lamps. Is this easy to do or do I need an electrician-I can actually wire a plug! (more...)
