Resolved Question: What to do about my bartending wife?
Before you begin to think or believe this is a typical bartending question, please think again. It's not. And I need some serious insight in order to make my marriage last.
I met my wife two years ago--I am much older than she is and she is in college. I am crippled, live in a wheel chair, and have medical problems stemming from a lifelong battle with alcoholism and cholesterol. My wife is a trophy that I'm finding harder and harder to keep polished.
She now tends bar at one of the VFW bars in town. We live in Little Creek, Virginia. There are two places (other than Panama City where SDV training is taught) that base the Navy SEALs. Little Creek, Virginia, and San Diego, California. And this is where my problem lies. Everynight my wife leaves our house and goes to bartend at the "SEAL" VFW bar. The SEAL platoons who are not deployed have kind of "marked their territory" with this particular bar, and the other veterans (Army, Air Force...) go to other bars in the area. Folks--please read this part carefully--my wife rolled me out there to the bar one night (only once) and I noticed how the only SEALs that come are not married. They are all single. Also, I got a glimpse of how beautiful these men are (just being honest, not gay). These SEAL guys are not normal. They look like male fashion models who just happen to be war machines. They have scars (from the war) and tattoos but they are not trashy (don't smoke cigarrettes and don't drink too much). A few I talked to had college degrees, and the others without college degrees were likewise educated. Again, they own this bar basically. It's known as the "SEAL bar." But you haven't heard what the problem is yet:
My wife now works her normal shift and the late shift (10 to 2 am). She comes home with her makeup and lipstick and hair scattered, and sometimes when I roll fast enough and make it into the room she changes in, I notice she is not wearing panties. I haven't checked to see if doesn't go to work without panties, but she has always worn panties before. Also, she wears more makeup and perfume, and dresses up more before she goes to tend bar (she used to work at another bar and didn't get all dolled up like she does at the new bar).
I want someone (woman or man) to honestly tell me what is going on. I'm really not a great husband--I have mood swings because of all the pills I'm on--and I think she might be doing stuff with them. She sometimes doesn't get home until like three or four. And she and I never have sex (limited sex) anymore, but she doesn't complain either.
The bar has no supervision and, frankly, knowing how wild my wife used to be I could see stuff happening at the bar itself. These SEAL guys really stick together and I'm sure they are not offended by watching one of their platoon mates get some action, even right there at the bar. My wife has always been very open and she is not shy about her beautiful body.
Just shoot me straight, if you can. What's going on at that bar, or why is she getting home so late? I miss my wife.

Resolved Question: Is my wife allowed under Corgi Regulations to clean our gas hob?
Having carefully read the Corgi Gas Installer Manual whilst researching a reply in Yahoo ?Answers? regarding the extent of work an electrician or similar tradesman is able to perform in connection with a gas appliance. I am rather disturbed at what I read assuming my interpretation is correct.
In the Manual
PART B Qualifications and supervision para 3. (1) is clear enough stating that ?No person shall carry out any work in relation to a gas fitting or gas storage vessel unless he is competent to do so? Competency is defined elsewhere as a Registered Gas Installer.
The definition of ?fitting? is what causes me concern. This is defined in PART A ?gas fittings? which means gas pipework, valves regulators and meters and fittings, (OK so far but then continues, apparatus and appliances designed for use by consumers of gas for heating, lighting, cooking or other purposes for which gas can be used. This then would seem to include any part of the appliance, not just the parts carrying gas and would apply even before the gas connection is made. It therefore follows that unless Corgi registered an Electrician cannot make the electrical connections to a gas appliance or a Heating Engineer the water connections.
Digging further, the term ?work? referred to in PART B is defined in PART A in relation to a gas fitting to be (a) Installing the fitting. (b) maintaining, servicing, permanently adjusting, repairing, altering or renewing the fitting or purging it of air or gas(c) where the fitting is not readily moveable, changing its position and (d) removing the fitting. The regulations from this do not appear to prevent connections being made to the appliance unless it?s a gas carrying pipe and therefore I conclude that an electrician is allowed to make electrical connection and a non Corgi heating Engineer or DIY person can make the water connections. However if maintaining the appliance is not permitted, my wife therefore is not permitted to clean or remove for cleaning the loose burner rings of the hob as the dictionary definition of maintenance is ?to keep in good condition?.
My wife is delighted with this conclusion and I will have to employ a Corgi registered person to give the hob its regular five year clean.
Reading many of the past answers there seems to be much confusion over who can do what in connection with a gas appliance and my hope is that the above will only add to the confusion. How on earth did Corgi get these regulations through? Shoot me down if you will.
Thanks for all your answers.
Glen N. I quite agree with you. This is what happens when you have been in the HVAC industry for 55 years, so watch out.

Resolved Question: Is there potential for the Bush Dynasty to not relinquish power due to martial law?
United States of America
See also: Suspension clause
The martial law concept in the U.S. is closely tied with the right of habeas corpus, which is in essence the right to a hearing on lawful imprisonment, or more broadly, the supervision of law enforcement by the judiciary. The ability to suspend habeas corpus is often equated with martial law. Article 1, Section 9 of the U.S. Constitution states, "The privilege of the Writ of Habeas Corpus shall not be suspended, unless when in Cases of Rebellion or Invasion, the public Safety may require it."
In United States law, martial law is limited by several court decisions that were handed down between the American Civil War and World War II. In 1878, Congress passed the Posse Comitatus Act, which forbids military involvement in domestic law enforcement without congressional approval. The Military Commissions Act of 2006 possibly rescinds these limits by suspending habeas corpus, but the law is not clear on whether it applies to U.S. Citizens. Since, USNORTHCOM [5] has increased its direct involvement with civilian administration.
[edit] Ex parte Milligan
On September 15, 1863, President Lincoln imposed Congressionally-authorized martial law. The authorizing act allowed the President to suspend habeas corpus throughout the entire United States. Lincoln imposed the suspension on "prisoners of war, spies, or aiders and abettors of the enemy," as well as on other classes of people, such as draft dodgers. The President's proclamation was challenged in Ex parte Milligan (71 US 2 [1866]). The Supreme Court ruled that Lincoln's imposition of martial law (by way of suspension of habeas corpus) was unconstitutional.
Despite the recent laws passed, a test of the president's power to declare martial law without the consent of Congress would likely run afoul of the Constitution which has exclusive power to suspend Habeas Corpus.
The National Guard is an exception, since unless federalized, they are under the control of state governors. [6]. This had changed. Public Law 109-364, or the "John Warner Defense Authorization Act of 2007" (H.R.5122), was signed by President Bush on October 17, 2006, and allowed the President to declare a "public emergency" and station troops anywhere in America and take control of state-based National Guard units without the consent of the governor or local authorities. Title V, Subtitle B, Part II, Section 525(a) of the JWDAA of 2007 reads "The [military] Secretary [of the Army, Navy or Air Force] concerned may order a member of a reserve component under the Secretary's jurisdiction to active duty...The training or duty ordered to be performed...may include...support of operations or missions undertaken by the member's unit at the request of the President or Secretary of Defense." [5] The President signed the Defense Authorization Act of 2008 on January 13, 2008. A provision in the enacted 2008 defense authorization bill repealed this section of PL 109-364. [6]
[edit] New Orleans, Louisiana in the War of 1812
During the War of 1812, U.S. General Andrew Jackson imposed martial law in New Orleans, Louisiana after capturing the encampment of New Orleans from the British in the Battle of New Orleans.
[edit] The Territory of Hawaii
During World War II (1939 to 1945) what is now the State of Hawaii was held under martial law from 1941 to 1945.
[edit] Hurricane Katrina
Contrary to many media reports at the time, martial law was not declared in New Orleans in the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina, because no such term exists in Louisiana state law. However, a State of Emergency was declared, which does give unique powers to the state government similar to those of martial law. On the evening of August 31, 2005, New Orleans Mayor Ray Nagin nominally declared "martial law" and said that officers didn't have to observe civil rights and Miranda rights in stopping the looters. [7] Federal troops were a common sight in New Orleans after Katrina. At one point, as many as 15,000 federal troops and National Guardsmen patrolled the city. Additionally it has been reported that armed contractors from Blackwater USA assisted in policing the city.[8]

Resolved Question: Ask McCain to release his medical records?
Friday's debate: Ask McCain to release his medical records
Recurrences of malignant melanoma, a savage tumor that can and does reappear after periods of hope-filled absence, are too common and serious to be cloaked for political purposes. - Theodore M. Cole, MD
Dear Friends, Colleagues and Supporters,
53,491: People who have signed Brave New Films' open letter calling for a full, public disclosure of McCain's health records.
2,515: Doctors who signed the open letter urging McCain to release his records.
1,173: Pages in McCain's medical records dumped on the media in a publicity stunt last May.
20:. Journalists allowed to review his records for the 2008 election.
3: Hours those journalists were permitted to review them.
0: The number of tape recorders, cell phones, cameras or photocopying machines allowed in the room.
How many of you will write in urging PBS' Jim Lehrer to ask McCain about his health records during Friday's debate?
Watch the 30 second ad
This debate will deal with foreign policy, and McCain's health issues constitute a national security issue, especially when you consider how his secrecy about medical records echoes the Bush administration's legacy of lies. Will McCain's health limit his capacity to make tough decisions regarding diplomacy and military action? We don't know, because McCain is keeping his medical records a tightly held secret, made available to just a handful of journalists for three hours under close supervision.
Send a quick e-mail to Jim Lehrer, moderator of Friday's debate, with the subject line: "Ask McCain to Disclose His Health Records in Full." Then, donate to Brave New PAC today so we can get this ad on the air. We have the right to have an open discussion about this grave issue, and now we have the chance to bring transparency and accountability to politics.
Yours,
Robert Greenwald
and everyone at Brave New PAC
P.S. For more info and inspiration and what to write in the body of your e-mail to Jim Lehrer, read the testimonies from some of our doctors below.
It is standard practice for the people of the United States to be kept informed of the President's state of health. It is even more important that we citizens be made fully aware of the health and health risks of our potential Presidents. John McCain has had more than one melanoma, a particularly lethal cancer. That statement that his cancer is "in remission" does not equate with cure. Melanoma can be undetectable and "in remission" for a dozen years and then recur. - Nancy V. Bruckner, MD
It is inconceivable that America would vote on who will be their next president without complete disclosure of every detail of the health care that each candidate has undergone. With one of the candidates having had a very serious form of cancer and being 72 years of age, the American people need to be reassured that their decisions at the poll are being made with all available information. - David R. Meldrum, MD
Transparency as far as medical history is concerned is essential for those running for public office. The public deserves that. It is a prerequisite for being in office. - Robert Buxbaum, MD
I have to release my medical records to get insurance, to get hospital privileges and for things of far lesser import than seeking the presidency of this country. Unless Mr. McCain has something to hide, he should release his records. If he refuses to release the records, then the assumption must be that he is, indeed, hiding something. - Gerald F. Cambria, MD
I am a registered Republican. As a dermatologist with over 20 years of experience, I would have to believe that there is a very significant probability that McCain will die of his melanoma, probably within the next few years. As I understand it, his first episode was in 1992, and he has had a total of 4 melanomas, one of which was deep enough to require a lymph node dissection. My experience has been that patients whose immune system clearly does not fight off melanoma (I've never had any patient who had more than 2 once we began observing them closely with consistent skin checks, as I know McCain gets), and eventually die of their melanoma, especially when it has been on the head or neck. Everything may seem to be fine for 5-10 years, then all of a sudden all the micrometastases reach critical mass, and there are lesions in the brain, bone and lungs - and the person is dead within three months. - Laura E. Skellchock, MD
