Open Question: Showmanship Evaluation help?
My AQH filly is just almost 2 years old in May. Im very interested in showing her in conformation classes 2009. But she is a small type AQH just 13.1hh at about 850lbs as of Jan 1st. Here are some pictures of her I woudl like to know if she would have a chance in the big AQH pointed shows or would it be a joke?
Her color is buttermilk buckskin, she has posied a dorsel stripe last winter, but im sure her coat is still doing its thing. you think she might hit 15hh? or am i stuck with a pony?

Open Question: Do you remember an afternoon special in which a boy and girl are snowbound?
This film (hour-long I think) is based on a novel that I thought was titled "Snowbound", but that title doesn't yield the correct film. It isn't listed in Schoolbreak or Afterschool episode guides. I wish I could recall the author's name, but I haven't been able to do that yet.
As I recall, the story takes place during deep winter in a fairly rural area. A very popular, handsome teenage boy ends up giving a ride to an unpopular girl who has a secret crush on him. She has her pet with her~a small, white dog. The vehicle might be a VW Beetle, but I don't recall the color. When they are in the country, outside their town, the car veers off the road and becomes stuck in a snowdrift. Of course, they begin trying to get out of that fix, and I recall them bickering a lot and making no progress. At one point, wolves or wild dogs attack, and the little dog is killed trying to defend them. They manage to survive the attack, huddled in the car. Eventually, they are rescued, with fresh evaluations of each other and no lingering romantic notions on her part.
I thought the girl might be Susan Meyers, who stars in "The Spell", but it's not in her filmography. I'm sure the girl is played by a rather plain, redhaired actress with frizzy, unmanageable tresses; she is a tad frumpy, especially in winter gear. I've vetoed Nada Despotovich and Lisa Jane Persky. The boy is extremely attractive, but he's not Todd Crespi, Scott Colomby, Leigh McCloskey, William Kirby Cullen, Ben Marley, or other heartthrobs of the time, at least that I can recall. Neither of them are "name" actors.
I haven't had luck with "Snowbound", "Snow Bound", or even "Stranded". I'm positive that it is a very simple one- or two-word, obvious title. It's possible that it simply hasn't been added to filmographies yet, as I discovered with a couple of other TV specials.
Thank you for verifying that my memory still is somewhat trustworthy! Now, do either of you remember the actor who shares her adventure? None of the sites mention the leading man, and I'd really like to know who plays the role. Do either of you remember?
By the way, I honestly wish that I could split the points because both of you helped so much! I guess I should have checked beyond IMDb and Wikipedia but am rather a chicken about going to other sites.
If you don't come back to check, I'll likely never know till I find a copy of the special.

Voting Question: Doubts about getting into college or not?
Hi everyone, I am a 17 year-old thinking of moving back to the US (currently living and going to school in Colombia) and applying to a high school in order to get my High School diploma from the US. But as I was looking into the admissions process for some universities on-line I came upon some things that worry me: first, applying requires a mid-year evaluation which I wouldn't have since I'd start senior year right after winter break, second, applying to any college begins early in the school year which means that I'd be at a disadvantage because I'd start studying once half the year had already passed, third, the SAT preparation takes place during the whole year which brings me back to the disadvantage.
So my question is whether I have a fighting chance in getting admitted into a college.

Resolved Question: please correct my grammar and detail ?
Presentation
The topic was how to practice and deliver the presentation. For practicing presentation, using visual aids such as video tape is good and helpful but it?s not possible tape record or mirror is also good. For delivering the presentation dress appropriate is very important and prepare for answering questions is also important thing. For stage fright over prepare or mental imagery or taking speech course will help to get over the stage fright.
Self ?Evaluation
At first, I didn?t prepare well enough to present my presentation perfectly. So I had to read when I presented the presentation so that I couldn?t make eye contact with the audience. And even I was run out of time. There were too much slides with not important point, that means I didn?t get what was the important point.
Class Feedback
Class thought the strong points of my presentation was visual of power point and how I did organized the point. Also class thought speaking tone of my voice and suit I wore were the strong points of my presentation. For improvement, class thought I did too much reading and did not make eye contact with audience and the timing was run out of time.
Communication Principles
To improve my presentation skill, I will work on my English. To do that, I will take more speech course and I?m planning to take public speech class in this winter. Also I was ran out of time when I was presenting my presentation, it?s because I didn?t prepare well enough so for further presentation I will prepare at least one week before the presentation.

Resolved Question: Do mortgage lenders take local demand for your occupation into account when evaluating your application?
My husband and I would like to buy a house by June of 2009, when our current apartment lease expires. With the national economy tanking we're worried that we may not get approved simply because my husband will only have a year of full-time salary history.
My husband is a first year software engineer for a small (but well established and carefully managed) defense contractor whose biggest customer is NATO. We live in Huntsville, Alabama; a hot bed of high tech jobs primarily in the aerospace, electronics and defense industries. The city actually has the 3rd highest concentration of software engineering jobs in the country, behind Boulder, Colorado and Silicon Valley. The city's economy is relatively strong yet has a very low cost of living. My husband graduated from college in May of this year and currently makes a starting salary of 50K a year. He's only been on the job for 3 months but has made himself virtually indispensable to his boss. The company is working on an addition to their product that only he has the skills to implement so his salary is expected to rise at least somewhat during the company's annual evaluations this winter.
We don't want to borrow much in relation to our income. I was doing some research on the local real estate market and the type of properties we're interested in (3 bedroom ranchers under 1500 square feet on 1/2 to 1 acre lots outside the city) have an average asking price of $110,000 and aren't selling very well. Most of the houses I found in online listings were completely vacant, which means more negotiating room for me. I'm hoping to find someone ultra desperate to sell and get them down to $90,000 or even $80,000.
Our credit score is around 720 and our debt primarily consists of low interest student loans and a small loan for the motorcycle my husband uses to commute to work, which we plan on paying off soon. We have a fair amount of money in savings and try to save 15 to 20% of our take home pay
We're eligible for multiple first-time buyer programs in our state but I'm getting a little anxious about qualifying for the loan. We really want to get out of apartments because every time we rent we're cursed with a smelly and/or noisy neighbor.

Resolved Question: I'm going to a basketball skill day, how do I prepare?
This winter I'm hoping to try out (and make), the basketball team at my high school. Tomorrow I'll be attending a skills evaluation day so that the coaches can see how much you know. I haven't played on a team in two years, and I haven't practiced since last winter. : ( It was a last minute decision...
Does anyone have any tips for preparing or what foods to eat.
I need to impress the coach if I want a shot.
Thank you all so much.

Resolved Question: HELP parents + math?
report cards come out next week and i know im doing really badly in math, we've only had 3 evaluations this term, and my marks were 64, 55 and 75 or something around there. I am an A+ student and I know I'm screwing up but my parents wont understand at all and I'm really scared. I've applied for a tutor, and will definitely improve by the end of the year, but from past experience with an 87 in math first term last year, I know that doesn't cut it for them at all. They totally want above 90 AT LEAST and this is like a 65 and i am actually terrified of them
+ its winter break and it means i'll be grounded and have to suffer through it all
any help??? much appreciated!

Resolved Question: what are the biggest culprits of heat loss from the home ?
I live in Oregon, and winter is coming. I have natural gas heat and a limited budget. What "insulation" should I check first to lower my heating bill ? the ceiling ? and what what should I invest my little money in to insulate in the best way possible so I don't have to turn that furnace on much. ?? Should I put most of my money in insulating the ceiling or the windows or ???? I cannot have a home evaluation, I have checked into that with both the elec. and the gas and they both say the other one should do it :(
