Strauss: Waltzes, Polkas & Marches
Boskovsky's encyclopedic collection with the Vienna Philharmonic, recorded between 1957 and 1976, is as close to definitive as one is likely to get. There was a special camaraderie between Boskovsky and the Philharmonic--he was a member of the orchestra's violin section for 37 years and conducted their New Year's Day concerts from 1955 until 1979. There was also a special empathy that these performers, as custodians of a tradition going back to its origins, felt for the music of the Strauss family. It comes across quite wonderfully on these mid-price CDs, which have been painstakingly remastered for an edition every collector should have. --Ted Libbey

Dirty Pictures
Following vaguely in the footsteps of The People vs. Larry Flint, Dirty Pictures is a provocative retelling of an all-too-true story about the 1990 attempts to censor the Cincinnati Contemporary Arts Center's controversial Robert Mapplethorpe photography exhibit. The film gets directly at a quintessential, core principle that continues to fascinate Americans: Who gets to decide what forms of expression are valid? Does the constitutional right to freedom of expression apply to forms of expression you don't like? This film blends stock footage of both sides of the Cincinnati debate with actors' reenactments. James Woods's performance as the art museum's director Dennis Barrie is particularly impressive. The juxtaposition of real and fictional footage is extremely effective, and the result is a compellingly intelligent and emotionally gripping look at the issues of right-wing censorship in the arts.

Scooby Doo & The Monster of Mexico (P&S Clam)
Sooner or later, the Mystery, Inc. gang had to take on Mexico's legendary Bigfoot equivalent, El Chupacabra, and that's precisely what they do in this entertaining, feature-length, Scooby-style investigation into the paranormal. Taking the Mystery Van south of the border, Fred, Daphne, Velma, Shaggy, and Scooby-Doo celebrate Day of the Dead festivities, which become less festive when a towering, glowering Chupacabra monster turns up to terrify both tourists and locals. The young snoops smell a conspiracy, and as they chase down clues their search for the truth leads them into sundry Mexican antiquities--ancient tombs and temples--where danger increases exponentially. There are the usual rituals: Our time-warped heroes run like the wind during encounters with alleged ghouls--particularly best-buds Shaggy and Scooby, when they aren't stuffing themselves with delicious Scooby Snacks. The animation is slicker and smoother--and more pleasing--than some other, recent Scooby-Doo features. --Tom Keogh

Open Question: Would anyone please read my short story and give me reviews?
THE RE-BLOODENING
copyright 2009 by Dr. Malpractice
------------
Once upon a time, in a galaxy far, far away called Middle Earth, there was a hill made out of skeletons. A family lived on top of the hill, in a house built from Oak Wood and the tanned hide of a wolf. They were called the Adams Family, and they had a daughter named Alessa Gillespie, but that was because they could, and because people back then didn't really care about last names or the risk of copyright infringement because Konami didn't exist yet and no one had ever heard of a video game or movie called Silent Hill, so any lawyers who are reading this should just die because they aren't wanted here.
Anyway, the Adams Family was awesome, and they had a Prius, powered by a combination of gasoline, electricity, and the blood of their enemies. They frequently went down to town to feed, because they were related to Dracula somehow, even though they lived in North Carolina and not Transylvania. They would bite people, and sometimes, they would also eat asparagus, which was good for their kidneys.
Anyway, one night, they bit a guy and he kind of freaked out, because he wasn't a very understand kind of person. So, he hit them with a rake. They were okay, but there was a lot of blood, because violence helps to sell stories.
Because it was vampire blood, the gore turned into monsters, which were kind of like dragons, only made out of blood, and they breathed Medieval War Axes, because that's awesome.
For twenty years, the war continued, until the world was naught but ash...
A hero had to emerge from the ashes of the fallen world, and so, from the remnants of Vault 101, closed forever, or so it seemed, a hero emerged. His name was Dr. Malpractice.
Dr. Malpractice took his gun with a chainsaw attached to it, which is a totally unique idea, and gored the gore monsters. There was so much gore it was like the world was made out of gore because of all the gore.
Then Borat appeared, and talked about Kazakhstan a little.
In the end, everyone learned an important lesson: The smallest lifeforms on Earth, the microbes which we live amongst every day, were the only things which could bring down the Martians I forgot to mention because I was too busy describing something about blood monsters which was all actually a dream Stephanie Meyer had before she wrote about crap.

Open Question: need help with a snake?
My cat was bitten earlier today, Took him to the Vet, They gave him Anti-venom, and he's getting better -touches wood-. But when they had a look at the Snake, (which we killed and took in) they had NO idea what it is, we're located in North Queensland, Mackay Region. The snake sort of had a head like a taipan, And had a yellow belly, We thought it was a yellow bellied black, But it had red spots all over it's yellow belly, Now, What sort of snake is this? Have you seen them before? :S Funnily enough, we thought It may be a hybrid, Just our luck, eh?

Open Question: Wood Shop Dust Control Idea?
My woodshop is in my garage, which is quite chilly here in the North East. It has a concrete floor which is no doubt keeping it cold. I have wanted for a long time to lay down some furring strips and put some 3/4" ply or OSB on top of it....(it's only a 1 car garage, so not huge) ....I was thinking however...what if I were to hook my dust collection into the new floor, and drill some holes into a section of it, and create a "downdraft" floor for sawdust, or to sweep into....I have a 2HP JDS dust collector.....what do you think ?

Open Question: What does everyone think about the 5th book in the Rangers Apprentice series,"The Sorcerer of the North"?
It didn't have the usual action, and he(Will) was under disguise most of the time so we didn't have the spooky cloak and bow and arrow going on. And in the end(if you haven't read the book yet stop reading), the Night Warrior turned out to be a trick and all of the scary things in the woods. So you crap your pants to find out you did it all for nothing. It would have been a nice start to book, but it resolved nothing in the end. One of the major reasons i loved this series was because of the action, but it was left out in this book. Now we have to wait until the next book comes out to find out what happens. This was a still a good book, but not nearly as good as the other 4. I gave this book a 3 out of 5. Buy this book if you like the series it will be ok.

Resolved Question: plzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz help in this problem plzzzzzzzzzzzz......................?
Harry Houdini?s business:
Houdini always had an ambition to be a magician. As a child, he took great delight in making his younger brothers and sisters disappear and he was often asked to perform conjuring tricks at birthday parties. It was a natural career choice for him when, at the age of 21, he decided to leave college in 1 July 2007 and make his fortune in the world, setting up in business as a magician. He made the following payments in his first week in business
On 1st July he paid £1500 for a glittering costume with a top hat and cloak. On 2nd July he paid £1000 for a set of rare and valuable books, ?The Ancient Secrets of Magic? and other magician?s equipment.
On 3rd July, he received and was invoiced for four packs of magicians? playing cards from Alf Cooks Limited for £50 each. Houdini expected to use these items for many years. He paid cash from his own savings for the costume, the books and magician?s equipment, but he agreed that he would pay for the playing cards on 14 July from the business bank account.
His first appearance as a magician was on 7 July at Annual International Day of Magic and Conjuring Show, for which he was paid a fee of £650 by cheque, with which he opened a business account on the same day. He incurred £15 travel expenses, which he paid from his own savings.
The TASK:
1(a)From the information provided above, prepare a summary of Houdini?s income and expenses for the week ended 7th July, showing the profit earned. Please ignore any depreciation on Harry Houdini?s assets.
1(b)Draw up a list, as at 7 July, of Houdini?s fixed assets, current assets and current liabilities and then calculate what Harry Houdini?s net assets are at that date.
TMA02, question 1, part 2: (10 marks)
Houdini the magician entered his second week of business with £650 in his business bank account and has agreed to appear as entertainer at three parties during the week. Realising that he had no rabbits to pull out of his top hat, he contacted a rabbit breeder, who, on 8th July, supplied and received a cheque for six white rabbits at cost of £30 each, on the condition that Houdini treated them kindly and fed them well. The rabbits were paid for on the same day by cheque.
On 8th July, Houdini also bought a large quantity of rabbit food from Rabbit Food plc. for which he paid £150 from the business account on 9th July. On the same day, Rabbit Food plc supplied several sacks of scrap wood at no cost, for building rabbit hutches (small houses for rabbits).
10th July, Houdini travelled to William Green?s party, which was a success and he was paid £100 cash. Travel expenses were £15 cash. On 11th July, he paid a cheque for £15 for cleaning his costume, which became soiled after handling the rabbits. On 12th July, he paid £8 for a train ticket in cash to travel to Violet Cartwright?s party. This event was also successful and he received a fee of £100 by cheque. On 13th July, he performed at Jasper Peter?s party, which was only partially successful, since a child felt sorry for the rabbits and let them all escape.
The rabbits were never seen again.
Houdini gave an invoice to Mr Peter for £250 in total, to cover the cost of the escaped rabbits and a reduced performance fee for himself. As the performance was not a complete success, he agreed to waive some of his performance fee on this occasion, which Mr Peter paid in cash on the same day. As the party was local, he incurred no travel expenses on this occasion.
On 14th July, Houdini returned the unused rabbit feed to Rabbit Food plc, which gave him back £50 for the unused feed. He also paid Alf Cooke?s account for the playing cards bought in the first week.
The TASK:
2 (a)From the information provided above in Question 2, construct a simple cash account for Houdini the magician for the week from 8 to 14 July
2(b)Explain the purpose of a cash account (also called cash flow statement in B120, Book 3) and what an analysis of the cash account can reveal about a business.
TMA 02, question 1, part 3: (20 marks)
The busiest time for any children?s entertainer in Europe, in North America, Australia, New Zealand, among other countries, is at Christmas time, Christmas Day being 25th December. Christmas time can start from early December.
As the year progressed he was in great demand. He felt that he needed as assistant so he decided to employ Safire, who had previously been chief inventor at Wizard Limited, a company that makes equipment for magic tricks and novelties. As a leaving gift, the company had given Safire a ?disappearing lady? apparatus. Being unsentimental about such things, she sold it to Harry Houdini on 1 December 2007 for £2500. Safire started to appear (and disappear) as part of Harry Houdini?s magic act.
After two months in her new job, Safire persuaded Houdini to diversify by buying items made by her former employer and selling them at the children?s parties to the parents and guests.
