"If you need a compilation to hold you over until the next installment in Sequoia's "Buddha-Lounge" series gets released, HOTEL TARA is the perfect place to take up residence. Like that series, the album features a luscious non-stop mix of ethnic-flavored grooves, spiritual essence and intoxicating beats compiled and mixed by the Gordon brothers. HOTEL TARA ups the "dreamy" quotient, creating an atmosphere that is at once peaceful and soulful. The beats are low-tempo and many of the songs have a touch of Indian instrumentation as well as a subtle retro-lounge flair. Artists include David and Steve Gordon, Gingko Garden, Althea W., Jaya Lakshmi, Artemisia and others. This is a great album for anyone looking for music that is mellow and cerebral - it is perfect for chilling out to."

Seven Veils - Romantic Bellydance
Seven Veils - Romantic Bellydance ASeven Veils is beginner bellydance instruction that will teach you how to perform a romantic dance for a special occasion. Whether it is a birthday party or a personal, romantic evening, this program will teach you the skills and give you the entertainment ideas you need to make your special event unforgettable.

Sarah Skinner, renowned for her passionate, glamorous, evocative dance, teaches you a range of classic bellydance moves that come together into an elegant dance routine, perfect for total beginners and rich in ideas for a special show with an intimate, romantic flavor.

The dance vocabulary is explained and practiced in sections: Hip work, undulating moves, upper body, floorwork, and veil work. Next, Sarah breaks down, step-by-step, her romantic dance routine based on the legend of Salome and her Dance of Seven Veils.

You will begin with seven veils wrapped around your body: In the course of the dance, you will take the veils off one by one. Sarah teaches you how to put on the veils using traditional bellydance veil wraps, and how to take them off in mesmerizing swirls, waves, and cascades.

Enticing and entertaining, the Seven Veils Dance incorporates spectacular veil moves, striking poses, and body angles. It can be performed as a fully-choreographed routine combining veil moves with hipwork, undulations and other traditional bellydance steps, or you can simply follow the outline of the dance, focusing only on the veil moves - a great introduction to veil dance for a total beginner.

Special sections of the program include tips on audience interaction and a step-by-step guide to creating your own bellydance costume from materials widely available at craft stores.

A bonus performance section features Salome s Sins - a dance theater piece presented by Sarah and her group. This fascinating performance includes another version of the Dance of Seven Veils, enriching the program with more ideas on how to design and perform your own romantic veil dance.

Open Question: Cheap and healthy student food?
After living on crisps, Coke and frozen pizza for the last years I figured one of my New Year's resolutions for 2009 to start eating more healthily. Are there any good recipes out there for a some-what picky eater (details to follow) like myself? It doesn't matter if it takes a while to prepare, but I'm not the best chef in the world, so it can't be too complicated. I'm not on a diet or anything, so whether it has too much/too little carbohydrates, proteins, fat and all those aren't of any major concern. I'm one of those who won't eat anything purely on the fact that it's healthy, it has to taste good as well. I'm not a vegetarian, and I quite love meat. I like most vegetables, and I'd like to eat more, but the only ones I really eat now are onions and garlic. I don't like most fish (tuna is all right), but I'd like to eat more of that as well. Are there any good recipes for fish fingers round and about (since I doubt I can afford any more exotic fish)? I love, eat loads of, cheese. Suggestions are more than welcome. I live in Norway, so we might not have all the products you have in the UK. We don't have Sainsbury's in Norway. And I am getting very tired of noodles. (more...)

Open Question: is this gramatically correct and does it have an informal tone?
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- It was barely dusk, but the moon and stars emerged from the darkened indigo blanket which envelopes them during the light of day. The moon struggled against the still powerful rays of the Sun, refusing to remain hidden any longer, but its efforts were at vain because, just on the other side of the bounty less sky there laid a display of colors far more vivid than any rainbow. The remnants of sunlight scattered against the atmosphere, as the sun radiated a beautiful crimson color as a last attempt to impress before it dove into the horizon. The light illuminated nothing but itself, leaving the rest of the world in the shadows to stare dumbfounded at its brilliant array of light. The patternless and mismatched colors would have looked very frightful on anything else, but in the soon-to-be dull sky, they were much welcomed visitors. The colors ranged from a deep orange to faint butterscotch, neon pink to the color of a subtle blush, an exotic turquoise to delicate blue and vague green until they finally melted into the darker portion that harbored the stars. Every evening at about twilight hour I head over to the window above my bed, look at the setting sun, and enjoy the peacefulness. There is something about a sunset that makes a person suddenly philosophical. Whether it is because of the way your head clears of all chaos, that might have taken place, or the way your mind wanders, seeming to relate everything back to the sight in front of you. Sometimes I spend the time sitting at my windowsill, reading, other times, I write. It may either be poems or simply just a jumble of thoughts and epiphanies that occur to me, but one thing that?s for sure is that all of these things were inspired by this one magnificent spectacle. On this particular day, my mother had come back from her visit to India which she encountered to make sure that everything about my grandfather?s eye operation went smoothly. My mother is a practiced RN who works in the emergency room, and she went, knowing, that her father would gain some confidence before the operation if he knew that she would help to make sure things went as planned. After asking her how her flight went, and whether she was feeling tired, I jumped into the harder question. ?How did the operation go?? I asked. ?It went fine,? She replied, I could tell that she was happy, ?we didn?t have any complications, and it was pretty fast.? That was pretty much all I asked her because she had filled me in on all the details during previous phone calls. You could say that it felt like a formality. I left her to unpack her things after I acquired the gifts she brought back for me. As evening finally drew in, I made my way to the window, bracing myself for another amazing sight. That day in November, I had much to think about. I shuddered to think about what my operation would have felt like to my grandfather, but I was even move terrified at the thought of what would have happened if things had gone wrong. I thought about how many things he would never be able to see. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- i am writing a personal narrative for english class. i would like to know if this was gramatically correct, and if not can you tell me what changes to make? also, am i using an informal tone? if not, how can i make it informal? my teacher says its supposed to sound like me? i wonder what that means? also, is it good? any changes for the better are appreciated. thanks. and please dont use for your own purposes. thanks again!! also it is supposed to be in a friendly tone. is it? oh and is it all in the same tense? Resolved Question: Do you agree or disagree with this?
... short metaphorical story.. Imagine there being only ONE automaker (Lets call them SAM, for ease of understanding) in the entire world. This automaker makes 1 model: The Woman. The Woman model is the fast, sleek, sexy, exotic colors to choose from, you would look hot in this car. Everyone will stare and be envious of this car once they see you driving it. But the catch is, most of the Woman models SAM produces are lemons. Due to manufacturing limitations, SAM has to make their cars like this. And you dont know which ones are lemons. The lemons break down frequently, cause confusing problems, instigate stupid problems, unfixable problems, problems that repeat, high high maintenance vehicle, money just flowing out of your pocket. And your only choice is to get another Woman. Youd eventually find yourself test driving more and more until you find your perfect car. This can take up to only a few years or many many years. When a man looks for a car, he just wants a car that can satisfy him and that he can satisfy. Now, its quite easy to make a man happy. After he is mature and ready for a car, all he needs is the looks, the power, and the reliability. The Woman model offers the looks, and the power. And due to the lemon productivity of SAM, not all of the Woman models are reliable. The reliability rating is affected by the production, past owners and maintenance upkeep. There could be a good manufactured one, but turns into a lemon from past owners or bad maintenance, and vise versa. Maintenance can be a bit tough, but all a man needs to due is to just try and study. Learn his car and take care of it, nothing too hard about it. And soon he will find a car that is perfect for him. Just how long and how far is he willing to go? Comments? (more...)

Resolved Question: New Year's Eve Outfit...? Makeup?
So New Year's Eve is always a huge deal to me since it's also my birthday. I always go out and have a good time with friends, but this year we're planning something different. We are going out to a lot of bars/clubs downtown with some prissy, stuck up, celeb wanna-be people (honestly, that's the best way to describe them). There will be a lot of picture taking since I'm bringing my camera, my friends are bringing their cameras, and we might have a semi-professional photographer with us (one of those photogs who takes high-quality photos of people at clubs). Everything sounds kind of cliche to me personally, but I've had good times in such situations before. Also, since tickets are extremely expensive and we might be able to get VIP and a limo for free than it might be worth going. Anyway, back to my point. What I want to make sure is that I look good, especially because of the photos. I planned out an outfit and I want to get opinions on this. Also, I am having a makeup dilemma. Here is what I planned to wear: Shoes: http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v713/ILikeCh33s3/Album%203/DSC04390.jpg (Black Suede - 4" heels) Dress: http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v713/ILikeCh33s3/Album%203/DSC04394.jpg (Black tube dress... it's not really a dress but I can definitely wear it as one since it stretches down to my knees. I also plan on wearing a bra with straps underneath since it will make it look like a dress with straps, plus just in case any slip-ups occur I won't flash the whole world.) Jewelry: http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v713/ILikeCh33s3/Album%203/DSC04395.jpg (Double large bead necklace) Clutch: http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v713/ILikeCh33s3/Album%203/DSC04401.jpg (Silky black clutch. I was going to bring a purse but I don't really feel like hauling a lot of stuff around with me, just the essentials.) Now for makeup... I was thinking either going with a heavy smoky-eye black eyeshadow. People say that my eyes are "exotic." I don't know why but anyway... wearing heavy black eyeshadow really makes them stand out and I like the way it looks. But I also have this bright pink shadow that I happen to love, but it does not excentuate my eyes as much at all (especially in photos). Eyeshadow: http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v713/ILikeCh33s3/Album%203/DSC04398.jpg So I'm wondering, which makeup would be better... and is this a good outfit in general? Thanks for the input! Thanks for the flower or bow suggestion. I think that will definitely look great in my hair. I'll just have to find something bright and cute to put in. I also love the hot pink shoes idea, however, I don't see myself wearing hot pink heels very often (maybe once a year). So I don't know if it's worth going out and buying a pair of expensive heels just for this one occasion. I will look into it though... I have a short period of time :( Yea, I think I'll replace the black necklace with something different... like white pearls or something. Wow, I just found this great video on how to do the eye makeup using mupltiple colors...( http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=j61evGILE6Q ) so I think I will be able to combine the pink and black so have it both ways - some pink shadow and some of the smokey eye, haha. Also, I'm making a small pink bow to put into my hair so it will go great with the eyeshadow. Thanks everyone! (more...)

Resolved Question: Best place for a (cheap!) romantic tropical getaway ?
Ok, so basically we are looking for a nice vacation for the two of us. I've looked at the all-inclusive trips to Mexico, Jamaica, etc and they all look about the same. I'm not opposed to that at all, especially because of the all-inclusive. But I'm thinking we want to go somewhere more secluded like a cabin in a rain forest or something exotic like that. Either way we need to keep cost down, less than $3000....any suggestions? I'm sure there must be inexpensive ways to enjoy the world, right? Thanks for any tips! (more...)
