Pancakes, eggs, and bacon somehow taste extra hearty when cooked in a heavy cast-iron skillet. Cast iron creates superior heat retention, heats evenly, and loves a campfire, unlike flimsier pans. Fry up a mess of catfish, roast a chicken, or bake an apple crisp in this generous 12-inch pan that features two handles for heavy lifting, and two subtle side lips for pouring. Open Question: Which Caribbean island would be the best choice for me an my husband?
Here is a little about us and our travel style:
- not looking for any type of clubbing/dancing, we prefer a mellow chill little village
- love outdoor activities and would enjoy hiking, biking, snorkeling, surfing,
- looking for a BEAUTIFUL beach
- we don't enjoy large all-inclusive resorts or cruises....we would rather stay in a small locally owned guesthouse or B&B.
- easy access (we only have a week) prefer a location we could fly direct from Florida.
Thank you!
We have never been anywhere in the Caribbean....only Central America and Europe .

Resolved Question: Printed below is a statement written by Neil Clark, of the National Union of Journalists in Britain?
What is written below, was not written by me, my heading explains, but I agree 100% with it's content.
I would appreciate "everybody" reading the entire length of this article, because it is important.
It does not matter what country you live, because both America and the UK have the same low income tax, free market systems, endorsed todate by all American leaders, while our UK system was endorsed by Margaret Thatcher in the 80's.
So please take the time to read and digest in full, because I want to be overwhelmed by responses. Please read as follows, and tell me what you think.

One Hundred Years of Old Age Pensions
Here's my article to mark the centenary of old age pensions, from the Daily Express. And if, like me, you think it's about time that Britain's political elite gave our OAPs the fair deal they deserve, then please lend your support, in whatever way you can to the National Pensioners Convention. The key hallmark of a civilied society is how it treats its old folk-and by that measure Britain, with the lowest state pension in the EU, is failing badly.
It has been described as the most momentous date in British social history, the day on which the modern welfare state was born. One hundred years ago (on 7th May 1908), Prime Minister Herbert Asquith announced his government?s intention to introduce an Old Age Pensions bill. For the first time in British history, the elderly would receive a pension from the state.
The idea of a universal old-age pension, payable to all elderly people as of right, was first raised in the French Revolution of 1789?99. It was however, to be another hundred years before Germany became the first country in the world to introduce pensions.
A further nine countries followed Germany?s lead, before the British government finally decided it was time to act.
With improvements in medical knowledge, people were living longer than ever before. Yet there was no state provision for old age. In 1906, almost 20% of the population over 65 were officially classed as paupers. Women fared particularly badly; around three-quarters of the recipients of ?outdoor relief? were elderly women. Old people who could not rely on the kindness of relatives to look after them often ended their days in the dreaded workhouse (pictured above). By the end of the Victorian period the largest group of workhouse inmates were the elderly.
Workhouse life was made as harsh and humiliating as possible, so that the able-bodied poor would apply for relief only as a last resort. But while the system was designed to discourage the work-shy, it also meant that the elderly, through no fault of their own, were also penalised. Aged pauper couples were not allowed to share a bedroom. Workhouse inmates had their clothes confiscated and were forced to wear uniform akin to prisoners. Many suffered from malnutrition: hardly surprising considering that the standard dinner was 6oz of bread and 2oz of cheese.
The scandalous treatment of the elderly in what was then the richest country on earth led to growing calls for state intervention. In 1891, the philanthropist Charles Booth published his first old-age pensions proposals. In 1899, a Parliamentary select committee investigated and advocated non-contributory old age pensions. In 1902, a campaign group called the National Committee of Organised Labour on Old Age Pensions was formed; its founder George Barnes, defeated the Conservative Cabinet minister Andrew Bonar Law in the 1906 general election.
The fiery Welsh Liberal Party politician Lloyd George, who became Chancellor of the Exchequer in 1908, had long advocated old age pensions and was determined to take action that, in his own words, would "lift the shadow of the workhouse from the homes of the poor". But though his Old Age Pensions Act was groundbreaking, its provisions could not be described as over-generous. A pension of up to 5s (25p) per week would be paid to single men and women only when they reached the age of 70; married couples were to receive about 7s6d (35p). The pensions, although non-contributory were means tested: anyone over 70 who had some form of income had this deducted from their pension. Only British subjects resident in the country for twenty years were eligible, anyone who had been in receipt of poor relief in the last twelve months or in prison within the previous ten years was barred. In addition, pensions were not available to those who were deemed to have habitually failed to work according to their ?ability, opportunity and need?.
As limited as the provisions were, Lloyd George?s proposals were for some, the thin end of the wedge. Old age pensions would prove ?profoundly demoralising? and would ?weaken the moral fibre of the nation?, critics like the Tory peer Lord Robert Cecil claimed.
But the government?s scheme proved hugely popular. The cry ?God bless that Lord George? was heard across the country when the

Voting Question: Canadian travel suggestions?
I'm planning a Canadian trip with some traveling friends from England. I'm American and I met them while touring New Zealand. They've never been over to North America before. I've noticed things are alot different traveling in other countries like New Zealand, especially out of Canada and America. In New Zealand, they're seemed to be alot of hostels and people from all over the world just seemed to be roaming around from place to place. There's also bus services that you buy a pass and can come and go as you please and it travels the whole country. I haven't really heard of that in Canada or the U.S., but I guess it would be much more difficult as the countries are so much bigger.
I'm looking for any suggestions you could give me about touring Canada. We're thinking most likely to be in on the Western Coast, but not ruling out Nova Scotia. We don't want to necessarily travel the cities, but rather focus on outdoor activities.
I've been looking at bus tours and also trains. The transportation seems to be the biggest concern just getting around. Since I am from America, I could drive if neccessary. I'd like to avoid this because this would be alot of driving if we want the Canadian coasts because I still live a good seven or eight hours south of Manitoba. But it would be nice having the option to go when you want and not be restricted by time schedules or public transportation routes.
I love to travel but haven't had much of a chance to do so. Because of this, I'm not too familar with organizing trips. Any suggestions or advice you can give me would be much appreciated! Thanks.

Resolved Question: Why aren't there woodstock concerts like 1969?
I think this would stimulate the economy. We need hippie bands to come together and play free outdoor shows and we need to have Ritchie Havens, Sweetwater, Grateful Dead, Tim Hardin, Ravi Shankar, Melanie, Keef Hartley Band, Country Joe McDonald, John Sebastian, Janis Joplin, Canned Heat,
We need more Liberal shows like 1960s and then people will come and buy tons of things at the concession stands and the sales from this woodstock concert should go towards government money appropriated specifically for the poor and middle class.
And this is the way to do it! MAke the concerts, use THIS money! as discretionary spending. Why can't America make this happen!!!!!!
The sale won't come from tickets, it will come from concession stands and souvenirs. The Concerts will be FREEEEE like Woodstock was!
The summer of love is NEVER over. It is one youtube click away. The internet has some good in it. You can relisten to Woodstock, find everyone else who is, contact them all, facebook them all, arrange a meetup with them all, and the summer of love is revived.
You guys just don't remember 1969. How do you guys let go of something YOUR baby-boomer generation envisioned and then go against your own generation!
In Canada you have these called "Folk Fests" in the provincial parks. Gosh I'm fed up with America, I wish I could move to Canada.
I wish I could move to Canada.
You know what???? I think we SHOULD have Brittney Spears do Woodstock and sing about peace. It would be hysterical.
Especially Paris Hilton in front of unwashed hippies, haha

Resolved Question: How big is Christmas in areas outside of the US?
In America, with such a strong capitalist economy, Christmas has also been a craze at the stores...not only big family get togethers but all of the shopping and outdoor decorating, etc.
I'm just wondering, how big is Christmas outside of the US? Such as in Canada, South America, Europe? Is it as crazy there as it gets here?

Resolved Question: Will I get a nomination? I applied and am waiting for my results?
Will I get into the Naval ACademy?
I've had a rough high school, a bit tumultuous i daresay. Before I state my .. accomplishments, I will first say this. I had no clue there were service academies till the end of my junior year. Hence, if I knew there was a school out there for me, I would have gotten 4.0 gpa no joke.
From freshman to junior year, my Gpa cumulative is 2.57, and weighted 3.09. By the end of my high school, I will have taken 7-8 AP courses, and about 6-7 science classes. And I won the school science fair, got 2nd place in counties, and am entered in the JS HS, a national science contest. I also got a 1940 on my SATs.
I'm the top violinist in my school, one of the best in the state.
I have 399 hours of community service, and I've gone to other countries, villages, such as Thailand and Mexico and did a lot of stuff there. For example, assisting the sick and elderly, giving out medicine, playing with the kids, performing for ppl, and was the leader of the mission relief group. I've been to AIDS orphanages nad stuff. which really changed me..
I'm 17 btw. I'm also the indoor and outdoor track captain of my school, as well as first violin/ 2nd chair (I should be first haha).
I'm also the co-chair for Key Club, and President/leader for FCA, the largest christian club in the nation (Fellowship of Christian AThletes)
I can be a leader, and I know what to do. I've started out at the bottom, and made my way up to the top. But my GPA is awful. Yeah... i'm like a retarded sevant, .....
People hear I get 1940, Science fair and blabla, violinist, Track caPtain, but my gpa is... retarded.
But due to several reasons whcih will devour this page, I will withdraw from stating them. But I will say, my desire to achieve academically has skyrocketed.
Hence, this first quarter of my senior year, I have receieved a 3.42 GPA and 4.2 Weighted, with Ap and Honors classes. I'm going to go to States this year, definintely.... and yeah..
I applied for my nominations, but Mikulski has not given me hers. I jsut have to wait for cardin or edwards. Truth is, I'm not sure If anything will go right because of my damn GPA. But I can't look back right now, and I need to look foward. The Naval Academy is where I need to go to fulfill my destiny, that's how I like to think of it.
I know I have what it takes, and I know that I won't regret it at all. I want to serve. And I'm Korean, making me a minority, fluent in korean speaking writing and understanding, good at Spanish, a bit of japanese and some thai, and.. yeah.
I'm not worried or anything, but I have such little knoweldge of how well I sum up compard to the rest of America; hence, I chose Yahoo which is a world-wide informative data-base, enabling a diversity of responses

Resolved Question: Obama quote -- so, where did he GO for kindergarten?
In reacting to being called a Socialist.. Obama said: "I don't know what's next," Obama, the presidential candidate, said at an outdoor rally in North Carolina. "By the end of the week, he'll be accusing me of being a secret communist because I shared my toys in kindergarten. I shared my peanut butter and jelly sandwich."
So, jokes aside - did you think what I thought? where there kindergartens in INDONESIA? wasn't he living in Indonesia for years, at that age -- and is Obama applying something that's not quite a reality, as a sort of shell game, here. Looking in-between the lines.. when he actually didn't grow up in America and its system of kindergartens? (someone SHOULD be asking, no?)
