Cuisine à Latina: Fresh Tastes and a World of Flavors from Michy's Miami Kitchen
Cuisine à Latina: Fresh Tastes and a World of Flavors from Michy's Miami Kitchen At Michy's, acclaimed as Miami's best restaurant, Michelle Bernstein is building a national following for her fresh new take on Latin cuisine. Born and raised by a food-loving Argentinean mother in Miami, Michelle grew up fluent in Spanish and steeped in the city's cosmopolitan, Latin-influenced culture. She explored South America, the Caribbean, and Mexico. Using the freshest ingredients and the French training she went on to acquire, she has blended all these traditions into a cuisine that is uniquely hers.

Cuisine à Latina introduces us to Michelle's world. Her Latin food is unlike any that you've probably tasted. Full of flavor, it is familiar but exciting — vividly seasoned but not fiery hot, with touches that reflect the casual vivacity of Miami. You'll find many appetizers to light up a gathering: Fried Calamari with Chile-Coconut Sauce, irresistibly flaky Ground Beef and Tomato Empanadas, and bright Peruvian Mixed Seafood Ceviche. Or start off with Michelle's cool riff on a Spanish classic, White Gazpacho with Almonds, Grapes, and Cucumber.

Michelle gives you plenty of great party dishes with Latin flair, like Beef Tenderloin with Creamy Horseradish, or the colorful Fideua, bursting with seafood and herbs, which is similar to paella but much easier, and made with spaghetti instead of rice. You'll also want to try her sensationally simple grilled steak with chimichurri sauce, the Argentinean version of salsa. Her Cornish game hens, marinated in garlic-lime mojo, with chorizo sausage-bread stuffing, are perfect for Thanksgiving — or a summer evening — and she shows you how to make the same recipe with turkey.

Michelle's uncomplicated "Mama cooking" will spice up your everyday repertoire: Mom's Arroz con Pollo (chicken with yellow rice), Tuna Schnitzel with Cucumber Slaw, Pork with Prunes and Apricots. Her side dishes and salads beg to be at the center of the plate: Chili-Fried Onion Rings, Mexican-Style Corn on the Cob, and Bibb Lettuce with Avocado, Shredded Jack Cheese, and Buttermilk–Charred Jalapeño Dressing. Cuisine à Latina may change your view of Latin food — and it will revitalize your cooking.

A three-time James Beard Award nominee, Michelle Bernstein is chef-owner of the Michy's in Miami, Michelle's at Carysfort in Key Largo, Florida, and MB in Cancun. A former professional ballerina, she trained at Johnson & Wales and under the renowned chef Jean-Louis Palladin.

Andrew Friedman has coauthored cookbooks with Alfred Portale, Tom Valenti, the former White House chef Walter Scheib, and many others. He also coedited the popular anthology Don't Try This at Home and collaborated on the New York Times best-selling memoir Breaking Back.

Open Question: homework notes. ignor this?
Trip Planning I am going to London, England from Toronto. It is December 21st. I will be flying on flight AC868 and it will be approximately a 7 hour and 20 minute flight. The plane leaves at 9:00 and lands at about 21:20. On December 27th I will be flying back on flight AC869. The plane will leave at 9:00 and land at 12:20. The flight will be approximately 8 hours and 20 minutes. To fly from Toronto to London it will cost me a total of $2967.46. http://www.aircanada.com/en/home.html The car I will be renting is the Ford Focus. It will cost me £27.35 a day ($50.7470 Can) For the seven days I will be at London the total cost of the car will be £164.10 ($304.300 Ca) https://www.easycar.com/ssl/PriceComparison.aspx?lang=ENG When I get to London I will be staying at the Grosvenor hotel. It is located near Central London. In the district of South Kensington. This hotel was originally a Victorian mansion. I will be staying for 6 nights and it will cost me £ 422.65 ($781.060 Can). The things included are continental breakfast, VAT, service charges. It is a 3 start hotel and I chose this because it was not as pricey as the other ones and is fairly nice also. www.booking.com/London-Hotels While I am in London I want to stay at one fancy restaurant. The restaurant I have chosen to eat at is called The Capital. It is a two star restaurant and is not extremely expensive. It is located on Basil Street in Knightsbridge. While I am there I will be eating crab lasagna with langoustine cappuccino for the starter. I will be having a fillet of lamb with cumin jus and spicy couscous for the main course. I will not be having desert so the cost for the entire meal will be about £58.00 ($107.131 Can) http://www.capitalhotel.co.uk/restaurantbar.html Needed a way to get it home from school. forgot my usb. Open Question: Is there Chinese verion of the report "Temple Bar"?
I am looking for the Chinese version of the below article. If you read it be4, please show me its mandarin version, Thanks. Temple Bar It?s tacky. It?s touristy. It?s packed with falling-down-drunks at night and carpeted with vomit of a morning but Temple Bar, the city?s prime entertainment and eating spot, still has a certain something. As one of Dublin?s oldest area, Temple Bar?s fortunes have ebbed and flowed for centuries. The western boundary, Fishamble Street, is the city?s oldest street, and dates to Viking times. Crime and prostitution moved in during the 18th century, followed by small craft and trade businesses in the 19th century. By the first half of the 20th century Temple Bar had sunk into decline, along with most of central Dublin. A 1960s plan to build a major bus depot here was put on hold and by the 1980s the dilapidated area was home to a thriving community of artistes and cultural groups who paid low or no rents. The government soon recognized that local energy, and in 1991 began a major revamp. Ironically, among the tourist-fodder restaurants and pubs, you?ll find some excellent galleries, off-beat shops and an independent cinema. On Saturday Dublin?s foodies, families and city strollers amass at the excellent organic food market in Meeting house Sq to sample everything from tapas and farmhouse cheeses, to oysters and Guinness. By night from May to September the square transforms into an open-air cinema, sometimes accompanied by live music from the Ark?s outdoor stage, as part of the annual Diversions festivals. (more...)

Resolved Question: Looking for barwork in London?
Hi, I currently live in America but I am a British citizen and I'm planning on returning back to London over the summer and try and get some work. As a 20 year old girl with no restaurant experience, what do you recommend I need to be more competitive for a bartending job in London? Is it just experience? Charisma? an actual license? etc... Oh, and there's a recession now, so what do you estimate my chances (as a British citizen) of getting a job in Central London? Thanks loads (more...)

Resolved Question: 22 female moving to LA - help needed!?
Hi, I am planning on moving to LA in August of this year- I am trying to get a feel of the area and which neighborhood I would be best suited to. I want somewhere that's not so long of a commute to where I'll work (which at this point I still don't know)- so it would be perfect if I could be situated somewhere central. Safety is also a huge priority, as I said, I'm a young girl and I want to feel safe in the area... I would also love to be somewhere where there are more young people for me to meet and where it would be easy to get to shops/restaurants/grocery stores etc. I know this is a pretty big list of criteria so any advice will be greatly appreciated! Thanks! (more...)
