Voting Question: i want to write a fan-fiction story that is not filled with misspelled words and grammar errors-review? please?
here it is....
Chapter1
Ahh, another boring day in school- or was purgatory the right word? I looked up from my intricately detailed sketch of the classroom I was in and tried to focus on the way-too-complicated-to-be-geometry-2 quiz on the board in front of me. I was almost worshipful that the sun had made its slow journey to noon position and the bell finally rang, signaling free period five seconds later.
"Um, Jeanie, could you come here for a minute?"My teacher, Mrs. Varner, asked me timidly as a tried to race out the door before she commented on my lack of last night?s homework. "There are some people here who would like to speak with you..." She was looking slightly panicked now, and I tensed in response to her stress.
My thoughts couldn?t help reliving the last week before school started...
(flashback)
I was apathetic about my mother?s new boyfriend- she'd had too many too count and I never really had too much contact with them. That is until the new bf decided to attack me after mom was asleep that night. I wasn?t asleep yet- I suffered from insomnia. I quickly closed my eyes as he opened the door, thinking it was mom wanting to talk to me about the new man. I was surprised when he didn?t turn on the light and closed the door swiftly behind him. I opened my eyes then and he was 3 inches from me, his stinking breath saturating my face.
I leaned away and said snidely, "What, banging my mom isn?t enough; you have to have me too?"
He was taken aback by that but quickly recovered. He said, "Look, here?s how its gonna go," he pulled a knife out of his pocket and pressed against my throught. "You will be quiet or I?ll give you another hole to breathe out of."
A pretty weak threat, considering.
"You don?t want to do that..." I said with a laugh in my voice. Mom must not have told him about how special I was...
He scowled fiercely at me and said, "I think I do!"
"I?m giving you fair warning- you don?t want to touch me..."
He?d had enough with the words- he was apparently a man of action. He leaned quickly towards me- bad mistake... The second he grabbed my arm, the electricity that gathered itself in my core broke and spread itself outward. In this case, outward was through this man?s heart. His hand was rigid on my arm as long as I let the lightening flow freely, electrocuting him. When I was satisfied he was dead, I let the circuit break and his now suddenly limp hand dropped along with the rest of him.
I did warn him. Twice.
Sighing, I decided to do the inevitable and tell mom. She wasn?t as much shocked as disappointed- it had happened too many times to count; apparently, being a half-vampire made you irresistible to the opposite sex. After a brief consensus, we decided to write it off as a heart attack- I came up with that one.
And besides, when I was electrocuting him I just, ya know, felt it.
(end of flashback)
The cops believed us, the mortician believed us, the EMTs believed us, the 911 operator believed us. So I was surprised when two men in black suits walked into the classroom.
Chapter 2
One of them, the black-haired one spoke to me, he said, "Are you Jeanie Tristens, age 17, resident of black hills, Colorado?"
They had weird voices- like razors in their sharpness, but all the time it sounded like they were singing. Even stranger were their faces. They looked inhumanly beautiful, like supermodels, but deathly white. They were kind of scary in a pretty way. But I had been taught to fear pretty, kind faces.
One day my mom brought home a dog. Mom had told me that the dog she had bought at the animal shelter had looked at her with the most innocent eyes and she just had to have it.
That night she got into our chemical cabinet and when we came in there she had a box of rat poison in her mouth. Mom was hysterical- she rushed forward and grabbed the box from the dog. The dog latched her teeth into moms arm and suddenly became a wild animal. I could see that the dog had let go a second later, only to grab mom?s throught. In that second I shut down the hysterical screams that had been threatening to escape. My mom needed me. I grabbed the fire extinguisher because it was beside my arm and swung it hard down on the creature?s head, brought it down again and again until it let go and lay limp.
Even after that I couldn?t stop swinging until it stopped breathing; I had literally bashed a hole in its skull. I paused long enough to ascertain that mom was breathing and her main artery hadn?t been damaged, then I snatched the phone off its dock and dialed 911. The lesson, my mom had told me after recovery, was to never trust anything too cute. I was 10.
These men were definitely too cute. Instinctively, I shut down all emotion and answered, "Yes, I am." I turned to Mrs. Varner and asked, "I?m guessing this isn?t about last night?s homework, is it?" She just stared at me, horror written

Resolved Question: What Bugs Do I Need To Watch Out For in Colorado Apartment + Killing Bedbugs, Think I Found Some?
Ok, so my boy and I just started renting our new apartment, we're painting before we move our stuff in. So we've already looked at the unit 2 times, 1 before we signed the lease and after the lease.
Today was our 3rd visit, I've read reviews and some people complained about cockroaches and bedbugs as a problem, the rent was cheap and we're college students, so I figured for the location it was a done deal.
The manager told me the apartment was already sprayed last week, but today we found this little bug that looks to be a bed bug, I think. I squarshed that son of a b*** as soon as I saw it, but that is when I began to notice tons of little dead bodies all over the kitchen, like ALL over! There musta been at LEAST 30 dead bodies of these little guys!
I know it's weird they're in the kitchen and that's weird, but they were tiny, so I don't think they are cockroaches. I know bedbugs are like lice and can hop on you and ride where you go, we haven't completely moved and are still in our other apartment, I don't want them getting in my mattress, how do I wash them out, does a hot shower work fine?
Also, do they bite dogs? I have an Italian Greyhound and she was w/ us today, do they get on dogs? Should I bathe her?
What bugs do you need to watch out for in Colorado??? I've lived here 12 years and never had a problem, but that was before I got my own places....
THANK YOU!!!!
Detailed thorough answers REALLY appreciated.

Resolved Question: Since Republicans are so focused on justice & fair, do u think voting purges/intimidation//suppression is fair?
Republican Lt. Governor of Montana, John Bohlinger, accused the Montana Republican Party of vote caging to purge 6,000 voters from three counties which trend Democratic. These purges included decorated war veterans and active duty soldiers.
http://www.mtstandard.com/articles/2008/10/05/opinion/hjjbijjejjigfj.txt
The U.S. Department of Justice, for instance, this week said that Georgia's actions to verify identity and citizenship appear to violate the Voting Rights Act of 1965:

The Brennan Center for Justice: http://www.brennancenter.org/content/resource/voter_purges has issued a new report criticizing the way voter "purges" are conducted: "Officials strike voters from the rolls through a process that is shrouded in secrecy, prone to error, and vulnerable to manipulation."
The New York Times: http://www.nytimes.com/2008/10/10/us/10voting.html?ref=us reviewed state records and Social Security records and concluded that "(t)ens of thousands of eligible voters in at least six swing states have been removed from the rolls or have been blocked from registering in ways that appear to violate federal law" -- the six battleground states being Colorado: http://www.nytimes.com/2008/10/10/us/10voting.html?ref=us

Resolved Question: Is this a good story?
One day, I was riding on the bus just to go about a few miles. Unfortunately, I was about to discover I would be going much, much farther than I had originally planned. As me and the other passengers were riding, I began to become drowsy, and I soon drifted off to sleep. I woke up several hours later to the bus driver saying to all of us ?OK everyone, we?re here, everyone off.?
?Here? I don?t recognize this place at all. Where am I?? I said, still half asleep.
?We are at the last stop. Get off.? The driver snapped back at me.
When I stepped of the bus, I found I was in a small town in the desert I had never been to, and was scared. The town did not have many inhabitants, in fact all I saw were homes and several office buildings, and then it was cut off by the border between the U.S. and Mexico . The town mostly consisted of desert, cactus, and a couple of businesses and homes here and there, and that was absolutely it. In the distance, there were sprawling ranges of mountains, however I was almost certain those were part of Mexico. Close by, a dust devil whirred by and got dirt in my face and in my hair. The area around me was very drab, and the town seemed to match it. Actually, I don?t even think it could be considered a town, more like a village.
I walked around the town, and though I didn?t see anything new, I started going to houses where people were not fluent English speakers, so I could not figure anything out. After an hour of this seemingly useless searching, I finally found a man who had just moved here from Colorado, so he spoke perfect English.
?Where am I?? I asked the man.
The man, whose name I found out to be Frank, told me that I was indeed in a village, and it was called Frontera.
The man asked me where my parents were, and I told him all about the bus and how I had gone so far away from where I?d wanted to go.
?Do you know the way to Tucson?? I asked Frank.
?I am not completely sure how to get there, but I assume I could get there alright. Why, do you need to go there??
?Yes I do, would you mind driving me there??
At first he was skeptical about driving a complete stranger all the way across the fairly large state of Arizona, but in the end he agreed to drive me there because he could not see the harm of driving a 12 year old lost child.
And like that, we were on our way. We got probably 20 miles until his engine died in the middle of the desert. Frank pulled out his cell phone and called a tow company, who told him that it would be 2 hours, seeing as we were in the middle of the desert and Frontera did not have a tow company. However, it was getting to be about 4 o?clock, and I was still far away from Tucson, so I decided to hitchhike. After standing in the painstakingly hot and dry sun of the afternoon, a person finally picked me up. The man drove me up to Tucson, however neither of us knew what part of town we were in. Finally, I got on another bus, and when I got close enough to my home, I got off. Then, I was stunned to see my own mother driving down the road. When I got in, I reviewed all of my horrible day in one motion.
?First, I got on the bus to go across town, but I fell asleep, and I had to get off, and I didn?t know where I was and I was scared and they all spoke Spanish and I hitchhiked?
After listening to that, my mother said that I had done very well, was very resourceful, and how dirty I was. But I did learn one lesson: never fall asleep on the bus, it will cost you, just like it costed me on that fateful day in the desert, though I did learn a lot from that experience with Frank and the man who picked me up in the desert.

Resolved Question: Why is "voting suppression" rarely talked about?

The New York Times: http://www.nytimes.com/2008/10/09/us/politics/09voting.html?bl&ex=1223697600&en=ce240ad3162ac5ac&ei=5087%0A reviewed state records and Social Security records and concluded that "(t)ens of thousands of eligible voters in at least six swing states have been removed from the rolls or have been blocked from registering in ways that appear to violate federal law" -- the six battleground states being Colorado: http://www.nytimes.com/2008/10/10/us/10voting.html?ref=us , Indiana, Ohio, Michigan: http://www.detnews.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=/20081010/POLITICS01/810100384/1409/METRO , Nevada, and North Carolina: http://www2.journalnow.com/content/2008/oct/10/elections-chief-blasts-voter-purge-story/ .
Regrettably, our past and recent history is filled with examples of partisan bias driving voter purging and vote suppression. If these practices are allowed to continue, we could see thousands of eligible voters show up on Election Day, only to find that they were removed from the rolls.

Resolved Question: Having Ties to Radical groups of the 60's make you an agent of Change?
SEDONA, Ariz. ? Stepping up the Republican ticket?s attacks on Senator Barack Obama, Gov. Sarah Palin on Saturday seized on a report about Mr. Obama?s relationship with a former 1960s radical to accuse him of ?palling around with terrorists.?
?This is not a man who sees America as you see it, and how I see America,? Ms. Palin, the Republican vice-presidential nominee, said in Colorado, according to a pool report. ?We see America as the greatest force for good in this world. If we can be that beacon of light and hope for others who seek freedom and democracy and can live in a country that would allow intolerance in the equal rights that again our military men and women fight for and die for all of us.
?Our opponent though, is someone who sees America, it seems, as being so imperfect that he?s palling around with terrorists who would target their own country.?
The article to which she referred, in The New York Times on Saturday, traced Mr. Obama?s sporadic interactions with Bill Ayers, a founder of the Weathermen who later became an education professor in Chicago and worked on education projects there with Mr. Obama, the Democratic nominee for president.
The article said: ?A review of records of the schools project and interviews with a dozen people who know both men, suggest that Mr. Obama, 47, has played down his contacts with Mr. Ayers, 63. But the two men do not appear to have been close. Nor has Mr. Obama ever expressed sympathy for the radical views and actions of Mr. Ayers.?
Ms. Palin seized on their relationship after the campaign of Senator John McCain, the Republican presidential nominee, said it planned to shift its strategy and try to turn the campaign into a referendum on Mr. Obama.
?Well, I was reading my copy of today?s New York Times and I was interested to read about Barack?s friends from Chicago,? Ms. Palin said at the fund-raiser in Englewood, Colo. ?Turns out one of Barack?s earliest supporters is a man who, according to The New York Times, and they are hardly ever wrong, was a domestic terrorist and part of a group that, quote, launched a campaign of bombings that would target the Pentagon and U.S. Capitol. Wow. These are the same guys who think patriotism is paying higher taxes.?
The Obama campaign responded by noting that McCain officials had been quoted as saying that they hoped to ?turn the page? on the fiscal crisis, which has hurt Mr. McCain?s standing in the polls, and to devote more time to attacking Mr. Obama.
?Governor Palin?s comments, while offensive, are not surprising, given the McCain campaign?s statement this morning that they would be launching Swift-boat-like attacks in hopes of deflecting attention from the nation?s economic ills,? said Hari Sevugan, an Obama spokesman. ?What?s clear is that John McCain and Sarah Palin would rather spend their time tearing down Barack Obama than laying out a plan to build up our economy.?

Voting Question: Where can I find an explaination of this ballot?
Where can I read online about the Colorado court of appeals justices? There's many on the ballot asking to be retained or not, how do I know how to vote? Where can I review info on these justices?
It's impossible to vote with your "feelings" when you know nothing about a person except their name. Thanks though...

Resolved Question: Sixth-Grader Gets Suspended for His Obama T-Shirt ?
Sept. 24, 2008 ? He wore an Obama T-shirt to school and was given the ultimatum to either change his shirt, turn it inside out or be kicked out of school.
Daxx Dalton, an 11-year-old, sixth-grader in Colorado, took the suspension, saying his first amendment rights were being trampled.
On a day when students were asked to show their patriotism by wearing, red, white and blue, Dalton, pictured above with his father, wore a homemade shirt that read "Obama is a terrorist's best friend."
Dalton's father, who was upset by the school's action, said the school made a mistake when it suspended his son for the shirt. "It's the public school system," Dalton says. "Let's be honest, it's full of liberal loons."
The school said it, "Respects a student's right to free speech, but administrators told MyFOXColorado.com that they review any situation that interrupts the learning environment.
According to Aurora Public Schools, Daxx screamed and argued loudly with students on the playground before school. The discussion continued in math class and disrupted learning, according to the district.
A release by the district cites that the school system's dress code outlined in the parent/student handbook, which state, "Any type of attire which attracts undue attention to the wearer, and thus causes a disturbance to the educational process is in bad taste and not acceptable."
APS says Daxx's sister wore a shirt with an anti-Obama message that did not disrupt learning. The district says other students have worn shirts for both presidential candidates that also have not caused disruptions.
"We respect, and I repeat, the free speech rights of our students. We also respect the right of all students to learn without interruption," Superintendent John Barry said at a news conference Tuesday afternoon. "We not only have the right and the responsibility to uphold freedom of speech, we also have the right and responsibility to uphold an environment of learning."
The boy's father says he intends to pursue a lawsuit against the school district.
What is this world coming too? Talk about and tell me what you think?
