Open Question: parents peace corps-Swaziland 1970s-information? help?!!?
Hey, My parents served the peace corps in the 1970s in Swaziland My godfather was a student of there's who is now in the US with a family and is a Very successful doctor my parents spent two years there teaching school, my father did metal working/woodworking my mom did reading and other things, my godfather is pure African, My parents have always told me from when I was little about Africa. I'm working on a school report about it now and this report alone is half of my grade, I'm trying to track down photos and information about them and what it was like when they were there. I'm not sure if I'm spelling this right but my godfathers name is Begamoosa as in beg-a-mouse-a they've always talked about seeing fighter jets flying over with neutron-bombs on them and coming back later with out any bombs. I've seen slide shows of them in African attire spears beads, what you would see the African hunters wearing in ghosts of the darkness type dress standing with a Family. also the game park having a sing with the number of people killed by snakes(only white people were on the sign) as the school master told them they didn't count their own on the sign because there would be just to many. I would really like to find some photos of them or the school they worked at any information would be great, also I'm not sure the EXACT year they were there, but the king after they left stepped down and let his son into power, also his son (the king) was a student of theirs. this almost history is one thing that I would like to record write down learn as much as possible about it and let others know about it. My parents went into the peace corps in boulder colorado I believe. few of the others that went with them got sent home for AIDS/home sicknes and other things. my parents last name is Gossett. also part Cherokee one of the more disliked family's of the Cherokee as I have heard. thank you for reading if you can give me any information or tips anything at all would be great! -Matt (more...)

Open Question: How does my essay sound to you?
okay i wrote this essay about smoke-free laws...this is for an AP English course....how does it sound? Any educated citizen can agree that smoking only leads to consequences, and has absolutely no benefits toward the human anatomy; the issue was emphasized by an article written by Mike Stobbe on December 31, 2008. The research condemned in a Colorado city showed that the ban of smoking in a workplace led to a drop in the percent of heart attacks. The research took three years, but proved to work. Not only did the banning cut smoking rates but reduced damages on other people caused by second-hand smoking. However, some observers mention there is no actual proof that the ban of smoking caused the drop. One thing was for sure whatever it was showed improvement for the citizens of the city. The ban of smoking in public areas in Pueblo, Colorado might just influence other cities to do the same. Obviously, this change improved health not just for the smokers but for the innocent victims and their children surrounded by those smokers. The restriction of smoking in public areas for three years shows the commitment and the serious attitude toward tobacco. It is to be the longest study ever done on smoking. The images of what tobacco does to humans are instantly pictured in the mind; society has seen images of post-smoking situations and the consequences thrust upon those who smoke. Action speaks louder than words; taking this type of drastic action proved to help society. This is the ninth study done and it is proven that smoke-free laws help reduce heart attacks at no cost. Even with the doubtful observers, the facts are clear; the prevention of smoke will provide a healthy environment whether it reduces chances of heart attacks or not. If serious issues like smoke-free laws cure one of America?s biggest problems-heart attacks-then why only take action in Pueblo, Colorado? America?s health problem is soaring high with obesity, heart-attacks, and other diseases. Reducing one of those issues in a community helps doctors or anybody else medically qualified to focus on solving other concerns in the hospital or scientific laboratory. For example, the heart attack rates in Pueblo dropped from 257 per 100,000 people to 152 per 100,000, and that?s just for the three years. Imagine the progress America will make when a greater commitment is made toward providing smoke-free zones for the public. To reach distant places it has to take the first step. The affects of second hand smoke affects everyone surrounded in that atmosphere, especially the children. Cigarettes are known for causing cancer and contain more than 50 chemicals. Most of these children have no other choice then to breathe that air; because that?s the atmosphere they are surrounded with. Many of these children live in households with parents that smoke, and are not educated with the dangers of tobacco. The benefit of the smoke-free law guarantees children a safe atmosphere outside their home, where it?s possible to breathe fresh, non-toxic air. Many children receive respiratory tract infections resulting in 7,500 to 15,000 hospitalizations each year. Unlike America, many countries do not warn parents about the dangers of smoking. Like it or not, children grow up to have respiratory complications, like asthma. If smoke-free laws can spread through communities, it can very well spread through countries, therefore improving the universal health system. The message was loud, clear, and simple in the article. Although it?s not proven that all heart attacks are the result of tobacco, but smoke-free laws definitely reduced the numbers and gives families hope of a healthier air climate. Readers of the article can get motivated to produce similar laws in their communities. The message showed to be efficient and a sign of progress and a promising future. thanks so much!!! aand sryy its long lol (more...)

Resolved Question: c++ homework arrays, dont know what to do?
he said (proffesor) we use everything from the book on this program, i dont even know where to start, i dont know where to make the 2 functions or the struct array? Lab Assignment Six This problem is not from the book. This is the last homework for my Fall 2008 Computer Science 575 class. This is intended to be a comprehensive assignment, requiring use of all techniques used in the course. You should plan on using for, while, and do-while loops; if, else, and switch statements; at least two functions; an array of structs; and file I/O. Input Input will be a file and user requests. The file contains Zip code ranges and state names. The four data elements in each record are (a) the full state name, (b) the state postal code (e.g. 'CA' for California), (c) the low Zip code for a state, and (d) the high Zip code for a state. The data file is available at this link. You should name it ZipRange.txt and store it in the C:\Temp directory. The user input will comprise requests and transaction data. The requests will be a transaction processing code (the values 1, 2, and 3) and related data (either Zip codes or state codes). You may assume that there are 70 or fewer records in the input Zip code file. Sample Records From the Zip code file: Alaska AK 99501 99950 Alabama AL 35004 36925 Arkansas AR 71601 72959 Arizona AZ 85001 86556 California CA 90001 96162 Colorado CO 80001 81658 Processing Processing comprises the following steps: 1.Read in the ZipRange.txt file. Store each entry in an array of structs. Check to be sure that the number of records in the file does not exceed the array size. Write out error message 1 listed below if the number of records exceeds the array size. 2.When all records have been read in, validate the file data. Verify that no Zip code ranges overlap any other state's Zip code ranges. If they do, write out error message 2 listed below and do not do any further processing. Identify the highest and lowest Zip codes in the table. 3.Write out the number of records read, and the low and high Zip codes, using message 3 listed below. 4.Display message 4 listed below and read in the user's processing code. 5.Validate that the processing code is 1, 2, or 3. If not, display error message 5 listed below and continue with step 4 until a valid code is entered. 6.If the processing code is 1, issue user prompt message 10 and read in a two-character state code. Search the table for that state code and display message 6. If the state code is not found, display error message 7. 7.If the processing code is 2, issue user prompt message 11 and read in a Zip code. Search the table for an entry whose low Zip code range is not greater than the user-supplied Zip code, and whose high Zip code is not less than the user-supplied Zip code. Display message 8 when found. If no entry is found, display error message 9. 8.If the processing code is 3, end execution. If not, continue with step 4. Output Use the following messages for output: ?Error message 1: Too many Zip code range records - maximum is nn Replace nn with the maximum limit the program will allow. (You define this.) ?Error message 2: Zip code range aaaaa through bbbbb in state cc overlaps Zip code range xxxxx through yyyyy in state zz Replace aaaaa and bbbbb with the low and high Zip codes in the overlapping state, and replace cc with the overlapping state code. Replace xxxxx and yyyyy with the low and high Zip codes in overlapped state, and replace zz with the overlapped state code. ?Message 3: nnnnn Zip Code records read, ranging from xxxxx through yyyyy Replace nnnnn with the number of Zip code records from the ZipRange.txt file, and replace xxxxx and yyyyy with the low and high Zip codes read in from the file. ?Message 4: Enter 1 to get the Zip code range for a state, 2 to get the state name for a Zip code, or 3 to end ?Message 5: Response must be 1, 2, or 3 - please try again ?Message 6: Zip code range for xx is yyyyy through zzzzz Replace xx with the state name, and replace yyyyy and zzzzz with the low and high Zip codes respectively. ?Error message 7: State code xx was not found in the table Replace xx with the two-character state code entered by the user. ?Message 8: Zip code xxxxx is in yy Replace xxxxx with the Zip code entered by the user, and replace yy with the state name. ?Error message 9: Zip code xxxxx was not found in any state Replace xxxxx with the Zip code entered by the user. ?User Prompt message 10 Enter a two-character state code. ?>User Prompt message 11 Enter a Zip code All output numbers are integers. Zip codes should be displayed as five-digit numbers with leading zeroes if needed. Sample Output User input is in this color. 63 Zip Code records read, ranging from 00501 through 99999 Enter 1 to get the Zip code range for a state, 2 to get the state name for a Zip code, or 3 to end 1 En (more...)

Resolved Question: I am 40. How do I impress the guy that I want....not in the traditional way?
I am truly in love with someone who I have been seeing on and off. His health has been declining and he had to move back to Colorado to be with his family. We have been staying in touch via email, text and phone. He has been looking for work and as it turns out, he may land this awesome job. I have worked in the fitness industry for 13 years. I just got laid off and I am looking for another job and even a career change. It is seriously difficult now with the way the economy is and then the fact that I did not finish college (due to having to nurse my sick grandmother) does not make me look very worthy of hire. Lacking a degree and sophisticated job experience may not look very status worthy on the dating market either. In spite of my lack of credentials, I am extremely talented, gifted, intelligent, funny, caring, in shape and very attractive. I feel compelled to land a job that screams out "Skilled, responsible, worthy and untouchable". My guy is extremely smart and talented and I do not want to be underestimated by him. I don't want him to make a mistake by choosing the wrong girl (any other girl than me hehe). What can I do? Men don't just want a trophy wife. I want to be given a chance. What are some steps that I can take that will head me in the right direction QUICKLY?! I need to make sure I keep him interested. Telling him, "Wow I just landed a job! Oh boy! They want to give me $15 an hour or $25,000 a year", just isn't going to make me look very desirable. HELP! HELP! HELP! PS - and no I do not have low self esteem, otherwise I would just let the opportunity go by. I believe that when there is a will there is a way. Hey everyone. Please comment on how "eman d" cannot use proper english. I believe she means too old not to old. uhmmm! MEOW! (more...)

Resolved Question: hey i need help!!??!!??!!?
Hey. more help please? ? The light morning breeze rustled my long brown hair as I reluctantly walked down the street towards Colorado High School. The first day back is never good, but it?s worse if it?s at a new school, and a new town. I could see the dull grey school building ahead, and even though today was sunny, nothing seemed to brighten this place up. As I walked in through the steel gates, I examined the wide school grounds and then came to see that every pair of eyes stared judgingly at me. My face red, I tried to ignore the stares and get to class as quickly as I could. A boy with blonde curly hair and dark sunglasses fell into step beside me. Almost sure he was there to make fun of me I quickened my step hoping to lose him, but he kept up. Finally, he stepped in front of me, smiled a crooked smile and held out his worn-out hand. I took his warm hand in mine and shook it softly in his firm grip. ?Carl. New?? he asked his voice husky and gentle. ?Yes, I?m Samantha.? I said shyly, avoiding his face. He took away his hand away from mine and I looked up to see that he looked amused as I blushed. The small classroom?s walls were a dark shade of grey, making you feel like your stuck in a prison cell, which we pretty much are. Well, until 3:20 at least. As I sat down at my new desk, I realised that there was a small note sitting on top. I opened it up: Meet me after school. Carl. ?Samantha Fraden, I?m sure you wouldn?t like to make a bad impression on your first day?? insisted the male teacher who I not yet knew the name of. ?No, sir? I answered obediently ?Well then I suggest you stop passing notes and pay attention to the science equations on the board.? ?No, I wasn?t passi-? ?Bad impression Samantha, your making a bad impression with Mr. Verntin? Mr. Verntin interrupted, speaking in third person. Now learning that Mr. Verntin was not one to listen but one to stand his ground. I sighed as I looked at the twenty science questions on the board and the seventy in my book. The irritating, but relieving school bell rang through the speakers and jerked us away from our work to pack it all away for another day. I packed my bag as quickly as I could and stuffed my books into it carelessly, to avoid any questioning from curious students who hand t had a good enough look yet. The school grounds were still unfamiliar and I soon got lost and confused. Starting to panic, thinking I was stuck here for the night, I wondered around in circles for hours on end, or so it seemed, until a warm hand spun me around swiftly. ?Lost? Didn?t I tell you to meet me after school Samantha?? the husky voice asked, the only thing that seemed remotely familiar in this area. ?Yeah, I?m sorry. I kind of got caught up in being lost. This school is so big and my old one was so small and ? and? a gentle finger stopped my lips from moving and Carl looked at my sympathetically like I was a mouse with an elephant head, sad but amusing. ?Do you know the way home from here?? Carl asked. ?Um, yeah, its on, err 57th, no 65th street, no 67th, ok no I don?t know my way home? I said now even more worried and anxious than before. ?Ok, you didn?t come prepared did you Sam? Well, come to my house and you can use our phone. Sound good to you?? offered Carl. ?Yes. Thanks.? I said quietly, feeling rude to accept the offer, but saw no other way out. This is an add. Im going to keep posting as I go so i wont give away the plot yet. Just tell me what needs improvement and what you think. Thanks guys im 12. why do people keep saying it sounds like twilight and other people say it doesnt sound anything like it? can comeone tell me how it sounds like twilgiht please? :S (more...)
