Open Question: Will Cornell University consider my application if my teachers didn't submit their supplements by January 2?
One of my teachers, whom I asked to do the thing, didn't check her email and thus hasn't submitted anything yet. I'm not blaming her (I should have asked them earlier), but would Cornell University still consider me if my teacher supplements aren't in yet?
Open Question: How man of these colleges will I get into??? Help!?
So, now that all of my applications are in, I was wondering what people think my chances are at the schools I applied to. The schools I applied to are:
1.Amherst College
2.SUNY Binghamton
3.Boston University
4.Bucknell
5.Carnegie Mellon
6.Cornell
7.Duke
8.SUNY Geneseo
9.Johns Hopkins
10.Northeastern
11.RPI
12.SUNY Stony Brook
13.Tufts
14.WPI
15.Yale
Yes I know, long list... Amherst and Yale were basically to please my insane dad who thinks I can get in anywhere, they're, as far as I'm concerned, huge huge reaches.
My Stats:
92 GPA unweighted
Rank in Class: 25
SAT scores: 2130 (750 critical reading, 690 on both math and writing)
ACT: 33 composite (33 math and english, 35 reading, 30 science)
Accelerated Classes:
Honors- English 9H, English 10H, English 11H, Biology 9H, Chemistry 10H, Global History 9H
AP- European History, U.S. History, Calculus BC, English Literature
IB- Mathematics SL, Physics SL, Psychology SL, History of the Americas HL, Biology HL
Extracurriculars: Soccer 9th and 10th grade, Newspaper Club Editor, part of the school peer mediator program (basically, the students in my grade picked a few people who they felt would best help solve conflicts, and I was one of them... we do annual clinics and occasionally have like counseling type things), uhh... thats about it in terms of clubs/sports
Community Service: mostly through my church and some through my town's chamber of commerce, about 80 hours in total
Work Experience: I've worked since freshman year, averaging 20-30 hrs a week depending on if it was summer of during school. I worked in a restaurant until summer of 2008, when it closed, then worked on a farm until it closed for the winter, usually 15-20 hrs a week.
Recommendations: Of course I'm not really sure how they turned out, but from what I can surmise they were really good recommendations, from my math teacher (I had IB math with him last yr and now Calc) and an english teacher i had in 9th and 11th grade. My counselor doesnt seem to know anybody, but I take the most rigorous courses I can short of the IB diploma and she seems to like me, so I think I got a good recommendation from her as well.
Application Essay: I put so many hours into this damn thing, and I think its pretty amazing, to be honest.
So yeah, there's me in a nutshell. What are my chances at these schools? I've been applying primarily to engineering schools at each university. As of now, my #1 is Tufts. Thanks so much in advance!!
Jack C: I totally see your point. But yeah if I had the choice out of any of those I'd go to Tufts, its obviously not the best school on the list but I totally dig it there and love the Medford area. Just something about it im really into.

to answer that, i just seem to have a really good feel for context; i have a pretty decent vocabulary, but the main thing is understanding what makes sense and what sounds right in regards to the question.
and one thing i do is take the reading twice, basically: i go through quick, answering all of the questions, then go through again and find any mistakes i made because i tend to look at it from a different viewpoint the second time (i'm a fast reader)

Open Question: Am i making the right decision with college!?
ok i have been accepted into Furman University's Physics program and i have applied for admission into Clemson University's, but i will not hear about their decision until Feb 15...
- Im leaning towards going to Clemson University...assuming i get accepted...bc me and a best friend will room together, i grew up on that campus, i love it, it will cost me less money, but idk if those reason should convince me to pass up the chance of going to Furman. Furman's claim to fame is graduating the scholar who is fabricated the fundemental ideas for the Maser and Laser...this has led Furman receiving money, "fame"...and the US news ranked Furman in the top 4 best Undergraduate Research programs along with Stanford, MIT, and Michigan.
Will the prestige of a bachelor's degree in physics from Furman have more "sway" then a degree from Clemson...or does it not really matter. i'm going to apply to good schools for grad school. (i.e. Cornell, Illinois, Yale...)

Open Question: What courses should I take to be a Zoo Vet?
I'm looking at a few colleges like Cornell, Colorado State, Auburn, UGA and the University of Penn., but I'm not sure what extra courses I would need to take to become a Zoo vet. I know they take the same amount of schooling as doctors, but I have to take extra courses that pertain to all animals and zoology.
I'm still in high school, so don't break out the dictonary on me. 10th grade, 4.0, and I march on a drumline in Georgia... so... er... yeah. Any help?

Open Question: Would I be able to get into a fine art university?
I attend a prep school in NJ (ranked pretty high). Its really hard, and I'm barely holding on with a 3.0 GPA (they don't weigh honors/AP in our school, I take some honors/AP). I asked a college counselor and he said my 3.0 GPA would be a 3.5 in public schools in my area (public schools in my area are pretty ranked high too). I'm also in my junior year. I have some talent in sketching and painting. I've started preparing my portfolios and started making some sketch books. I'm receiving some good comments from my art teacher and I'm also learning more skills from outside school. I also have a famous painter in my family (my great grandfather is a well known painter in China/Korea/Japan area). Would I still be able to make it into the schools I listed below?
Choices: Cornell Art School, Carnegie Mellon Art School, Syracuse Art School, NYU art school, Pratt
