ok basicly heres the run down. i got into a car accident in san fransisco , i live in colorado so i was not used to the lighting system they had there and ran a red light and got t boned the person was driving a mercedes of all cars i had to get hit by. any ways my policy covers 25,000 liability and unfortunatly the car costs 35,000 and theres a 10,000 difference . the inssurance company said that they will be getting a lawer on thier behalf and suggested i do the same but apparently i am getting sued or possibly geting sued for the difference and God knows what else , i dont have the money to pay it hell i dont even have the money to pay my bills for i was recently laid off . so i cant afford a lawyer and in any case i have no idea why the hell the company would advise me to get one when i dont have a chance in hell . if i do get sued for the money what can i do i have no money to pay it and i couldnt even make payments the insurance company said that the opposing insurance company would do an aset check and would drop it but now they recomend i get a lawyer i dont know what to do im only 20 i need help . I found out I was pregnant before I was able to sign up for insurance at my job...and being pregnant is considered a preexisting condition so places will not accept me...HELP This doctors office I went through with my first want $2300 in $300 and something monthly payments: it covers 1 ultrasound, the doctor visits and a vaginal birth. That is all fine and dandy but what about the epidural or what if something happens emergency wise. I know it is better than nothing but I feel there is another way. We live in Colorado anybody have advice??? I applied for medicaid, we made $200 a month too much so I am getting paper work to apply again. (more...)

September 24, 2008 Arctic sea ice begins autumn freeze-up Arctic sea ice extent, after reaching its seasonal minimum last week, has begun its annual cyclical increase in response to the setting sun. A cooler melt season, retention of first-year ice, and dispersive ice motion set the 2008 melt season apart from 2007. High retention of first-year ice Perhaps the most interesting aspect of the 2008 melt season was the higher-than-average retention of first-year sea ice (see earlier entries, including April 7). Relatively thin first-year ice is more prone to melting out completely than older, thicker ice. However, more of this year?s first-year ice survived the melt season than is typical. Sea ice age maps from Sheldon Drobot, our colleague at the University of Colorado at Boulder, show that much more first-year ice survived in 2008 than in 2007. This is one of the reasons that 2008 did not break last year's record-low minimum. One cause of the high first-year ice survival rate was that this summer was cooler than in 2007. Lower temperatures slowed the melt rate in the early part of the season. While conditions in August favored rapid ice loss, they were not enough to make up for this early-season "cushion." Furthermore, much of this year's first-year ice was located at higher latitudes than in 2007, covering even the geographic North Pole.
