I used the THX optimizer on Finding Nemo and it helped a little, but the picture is still inconsistent. Often certain parts of the picture will be crystal clear while others are blurry. Also, there's a line at the top of my screen. It's 2-3 cm thick and appears randomly, but only on some of the HD channels. I can't tell if I should exchange the TV or if I need to be doing something else with the settings. (more...)

I accidentally dropped something on my old laptop (It was a Dell with Windows XP on it) The hard drive was fine but the screen was a mess - it looked like someone threw paint on it when I booted it up because all the LCD crystals inside broke. I went out and bought a Hewlett Packard with Windows Vista on it. I also bought at the same time a Mad Dog Multimedia External Hard Drive Case holder - and ( you guessed it) put the old hard drive into the external casing and hooked it up to my new computer. Now here's the problem - I can access the external hard drive - I can see all my folders and files. I can do almost anything except I cannot open them or use them. For example - I had a bunch of mp3's I had downloaded and when I try to open them it says I do not have permission and need to grant USER permission to open them. I have tried the networking, securities and all kinds of tabs in Windows to make myself accessible to these folders but so far nothing is working. Last night I got lucky and managed to copy a Notepad document from the external hard drive onto my computer and I was elated but when I tried to copy the mp3 songs - it wouldn't let me and said it required permissions. I ask you - is that normal? So if you perhaps know how I can unlock these user permissions from the external hard drive to allow my new computer to access all the files - I would totally appreciate it very much! Captain EO played at Disneyland in Tomorrowland between 1986-1996 I believe, starring Michael Jackson. The music I am looking for played in the background as the guest entered the theatre to seat. After seating, the music gets louder and a meteor appears on the screen followed by an announcement. After the announcement, Captain EO's ship shoots the meteor which is floating in front of us in 3D. The music is very futuristic with LOW LOW bass under-tones and had crystalic-like/wind-chimes like accompanied soundtrack. A harp type chord and scale would play through the sound, but every few bars of music, there was a low bass tone followed by the wind-chimes. The soundtrack of Captain EO throughout the movie was like none other, and does not compare to any movie. Not even Terminator II on BlueRay has the same soundtrack like Captain EO did, of course, a movie director by Copolla, produced by Lucas, and the magic of Jackson (at the time a super star), the music soundtrack was powerful filled with crystal clear treble, clean midrange, complete THX surround sound, and deep deep crashes of bass. If anyone knows where I can get this music or at least know who produced that short piece, I want it bad. Don Dorsey is a composer who does work for Telarc and Disney and his music is all synthesized and clean. I've wondered if he was responsible for the futuristic pre-show music of Captain EO. Well, I was just thinking logically, if you have a monitor/tv who that can only reach up to 720p resolution and play a 1280x720 resolution video, in theater mode (aka full screen), the video would be in full display and won't be upscaled an inch, giving crystal clear image of everything the video is supposed to show. Now, if you try to play this same video on a monitor/tv whose resolution is something like 1920x1080, and full-screen that same video, the video will be upscaled, the image will become blurry and well, not as crystal clear as it would look on a monitor/tv adapted to its original resolution. Obviously a 1080p video is the one to look incredibly amazing on a 1080p display (however, unable to be played on a 720p display unless downscaled). I cant take talking to them at Direct Tv. The so called Tech Dept. Can not understand why i am complaining. Maybe i am wrong but i am paying for HI DEF and what i feel like i am getting is an upscaled SD channel surrounded by fancy HD scores and highlights, tickers and other gadgets. Local channels turn my 50 inch into a small 32 inch tv with giant black bars. A smaller picture does not constitute to an HD picture, if you ask me. If it was then it should show well at any size. My TV is made for it! While some channels like HGTV and Showtime seem to show well, most are looking like garbage. Especially Local, NFL Network ,ESPN,Disney and a couple others. I asked them why i had to pay for a service that wasnt true and they insist and stand by their programming, throwing stats at me that they are number one in programming and service. Thats not how you help a customer. They said my setting are wrong. They are not. Then they say, thats how the program is intended to be watched. ( well which is it? Make up your mind) If thats the case then dont try and tell me it is what it isnt. Im watching NFL Netwrok now " IN HD" Everything surrounding the screen is crystal clear HI DEF. Scores, stats and news. The actual program in the center is a small version of their digital program obviously not in HD. I am just ranting because they dont listen. Does any one else have this issue? WHat to do to get anywhere with this ripoff? Thanks for your time. I know how to use my tv. The settings are Native, stretch and crop. I have gone through all of that and tested them all. I have reset the receiver and gone through setup. The answer is not that i do not know how to use my TV. I can watch some channels with out a problem. Then some channels are black bar on two sides and the picture they call HD is shit! It is not in HD. I had it for awhile but then returned it later. Partly because of actual problems and partly out of my own paranoia and obsession with needing to buy the perfect compact camera. The problems I experienced were these: 1.) The focus was sometimes a little weird. Even if I prefocused the camera, when I went to take the actual picture, it sometimes found the need to focus again. 2.) The focus was a little weird. Sometimes I would focus on an object by pressing the shutter button halfway down, then I would release it without moving the camera, but when I pressed the shutter button halfway down again, it sometimes found the need to search the entire focal length (blurry to partial clear to blurry-ish to clear) before finally focusing on the object. 3.) Sometimes when I focused, a green patch or really thin, horizontal, pink lines would flicker onto the screen for less than half a second. They were never shown on the recorded image because it happened only when I would try to focus. The manual actually does acknowledge spots of green, red and some other color I forgot it named, as just the fact that only 99.9 of the pixels are working 100% of the time, and that it wasn't a malfunction. But in my need for the perfect-camera frenzy I argued that the green patches that flashed covered about a quarter of the screen (which is true), which is not the size of the estimated 0.1 pixels that were to not work sometimes. Plus the manual acknowledged SPOTS, not patches or horizontal lines. 4.) The zoom/focus is a little weird. Sometimes I would zoom in on an object at 6x or something around that, then focus on it. Then I would release the shutter button and focus in at the full 10x zoom. It would zoom in on the object almost crystal clear, but when I went to take the picture, it would refocus and stop at a much less clear object. Other than those rather minor errors I found, the camera was actually pretty good. But those things just really irked me...and along with the bad things, at the area I live in, the camera is available only is silver, which I really don't like because it's so cold, and metallic and not a warming color, plus it's too typical.
