Prehistoric Animals of the Tar Pits (Home Use)
In some areas of the world, such as Peru and California, thick black tar collects in pools or pits. Thousands of years ago, animals became trapped in the sticky tar. This program shows how the bones of these animals, many of them extinct, have been recovered and assembled by paleontologists to form a picture of life from the ancient past. Produced by Film Associates.

Resolved Question: question for creationists who deny evolution.....?
For everyone who claims that evolution does not exist, I would like you to explain to me how your little chihuahua lap dog came to be lying at your feet as opposed to a wolf or a dingo. Yes, dog breeding is manipulated by humans but it is still an example of how evolution works. Where the hundreds of different breeds of dogs we have today came about in only a few hundred years with the help of humans, it takes a bit longer for it to happen naturally but it DOES happen. And through this whole process involving millions and millions of animals I want someone to find me a skeleton of the transitional breed between a Labrador retriever and a Golden retriever. This is an evolutionary example KNOWN to exist from modern times and I would be willing to bet that there is not a single person who answers this will be able to find the skeleton of the missing "transitional" breed. How, then, can anyone point to fossil records which are infinitely older and rarer and say that their "proof" lies in the non-discovery of transitional fossils?
if anything, the fact that the dog has not been bred into a cat just goes to help illustrate why most people say that they do not witness evolution around them therefore it doesn't exist. Even with man's help, which drastically reduces the "trial and error" timeframe of evolution, even changes in breed come about slowly...given enough time, there will be an evolutionary leap, but an individual human would be long dead before witnessing the hundreds of generations that had to pass before that leap was made.
Without the intervention of humankind, as was noted, the changes are left on their own with nature to decide what is beneficial and what is unnecessary. This process takes considerably longer. Nobody has EVER claimed this to be a fast process and I just don't think that some people realize just how long billions of years actually are.

Stay with the green and brown worm example except this time, we will say that the brown worms are better camoflouged in their soil environment. The green worms are easily seen by robins which eat them. The predator-prey relationship here allows the brown worms to become more numerous because their camoflouge helps them go on to survive and reproduce. This is called?

Resolved Question: Is evolution really directly proved?
Often I hear how evolution is proven. But how?
Aren't the fossils that scientists find extremely subjective? For instance, finding extinct animal bones that look similar to another living animals skeleton is not direct proof the two are related, just that their bones look very similar.
Anyway, is evolution really directly proved? If so, how?
