Open Question: What do I do now - quit job/emotional toll question?
I'm really looking for practical and emotional advice, I don't know how to deal with this situation, on one hand it can look really bad and on the other it may be not as bad as I am perceiving right now...
I worked through a temp agency for 6 months at a job I really was very unhappy at. I still came in early, stayed late every day and accepted a lot of unprofessionalism from the higher-ups (in short it was a family business, there was a lot of inconsistencies in directions, no set procedures and consequently I was thrown under the bus often, plus no matter how hard I worked or how I just did what I was told no matter how often it changed, every little thing was nit-picked constantly and even one of the higher-ups that I didn't work under directly said it is a thankless job). As a side note, I found out that they really liked my performance and were going to hire me full-time, which shows I was a good employee anyway.
Ok, now that I am done complaining, I still have to say that I would have continued there despite these issues as they are things I could work through. However, in early December my boyfriend and I (who I was living with) had a really bad falling-out and broke up. I had been using his vehicle to get to and from my job every day, usually he would drop me off at a train from which I would transfer to a bus and then walk or take a taxi to get to my job. That was hell, but it was the only way I could get to my job as I have no car of my own. It was also very costly. Because of our break-up, I was extremely distressed and desperate and immediately told both the job itself and my temp agency that I was moving to AZ (which is over 1,000 miles away) to be with my family because I could no longer live with my boyfriend. I moved in with my mom in AZ right away, and to make a long story short, I worked things out with my boyfriend while there. I ended up moving back in with him very recently. I just spoke with my rep. at the temp agency and she basically said I should have been more upfront and honest about the situation, more professional, and that she couldn't give a reference now but would let me know if any jobs opened up in my area. I explained somewhat that it was a really unfortunate situation but that I was honest and upfront, I should have given notice but it was a desperate situation for me and I regretted having made such a split decision. I also told her that I worked really hard at the position, using a few examples. But in the end she repeated the thing about how I should have been more honest and professional. Now, I agree that I should have told them what was going on and what I was thinking of doing without just informing them that I was leaving because of the situation and not giving them at least the option to help. I left them no options. I really regret that. But I am upset that they will conclude I was dishonest and I am also confused by the fact that they are still willing to work with me but not give a reference.
I don?t know what to do or how to feel. I really on one hand am deeply upset with myself. I feel like for all they know, I could have been lying entirely and just wanted a month off to spend the holidays with my family in AZ. I left in early December and returned shortly after the New Year.
I need a job, and does this mean I can't use this most recent job I was at for 6 months on any new job application? I am so unsure of how to handle this in terms of any upcoming applications or interviews, and I just don't want to mess up any future job prospects. I learned a lot from it, which is good, but I need practical suggestions on what to do in terms of future jobs I go for. Do I put this job on the application or on my resume, and try to explain the situation in the interview process? Do I just put this job's information on my resume and any applications and say nothing, and hope they just get the bare facts of the dates I worked there? Would they find out that I gave no notice upon leaving? I don?t know if I should try to ?go on the offense? before they find out from the temp agency how I left by giving some information beforehand. I am afraid if I do that they will immediately decide not to hire me.
I'm sorry for going on so long, but has anyone been in this situation? I feel like such a loser right now.
As a side note, I am hoping in the fall to start a veterinary technician program. I have wanted to do it for almost 10 years and I think if I don?t do it now I will never forgive myself. So I just need a job that I can get to without a car, either really locally or in NYC because there IS a bus that goes to NYC right outside my complex.
I wrote this question because I guess I am hopefully looking for some words of wisdom in job-hunting with this kind of recent situation, and maybe if you've been there how you got through it. I feel like beating myself up doesn't accomplish anything and will make it more difficult to come across the way I want to on fu

Open Question: Questions about Hallmark Institute of Photography?
I am hoping to hear from some graduates of Hallmark Institute of Photography.
Photography is my dream... and it my dream to attend this school. But I have a young child (a 19 month old) and live across the country, so I have a lot of factors to consider as to whether it would really work for me to go. I am married to a great man and am currently a stay-at-home mom, but we DON'T have a lot of money.
Are there other moms of young children who complete the program? I want it SO bad. But since it is so intensive, I worry about how it'll work having a toddler. My husband works at the post office locally, and I could never leave my child... so at the very least my child would have to come with me and I'd have to work out some kind of child care while I was in school...
I worry that it's not possible given my situation. But I feel so unhappy with my current life, like it is stagnant. I love being a mom, but that's just not ALL I want to be, though I feel like that is what those around me expect. I just want photography SO BADLY! I have been reading to learn on my own, but it's not enough. I have attended "regular" college, but it is not for me. I need a vocational program. Please respond if you are a graduate of Hallmark... I need some honest feedback so I can try to figure things out.
Thanks.
P.S. It wouldn't work out for my husband to leave his job at the post office, so he'd either have to transfer (*gulp!* I don't know if this would work... esp for only 10 mos!) or my son and I would have to go without him! He carries the benefits and can't leave his job. He wants me to be able to go to school and live my dream, but neither of us can figure out how it'll work. HELP! Has anyone been in a similar situation and been able to attend the school? How long are the hours each day?
Berin L., thank you for the feedback and tips. I really appreciate them. Your tip about not being apart from my husband if at all possible was esp. helpful. Made me remember how miserable we've been any time we've had to be apart for too long. The photography program is 2 yrs. work crammed into 10 mos. and very intensive - "eat, breathe, sleep" photography, they say. It is exactly the kind of program I want...but wish I would've done it before I became a mother. I AM going to keep trying, though... it's got to work somehow... even if not right now.
Hey David, thanks for your reply. I have looked into programs in CA, but they are not what I'm looking for. They would also all require a move. I am very isolated where I live. There are no programs anywhere near me, so if I was going to do this, a move will be required.

Resolved Question: Really confused about home buying process?
My husband and I were pre-approved for 125,000 . On Dec 24th we made an offer on a house for 113,000 and the sellers accepted it that day. We gave our earnest money, turned in income verification, had our credit report ran,had income verification, had the house appraisal, the title search, the inspection, got a good faith estimate, secured home owners insurance. We were told that all their loans are locally processed, underwritten, and closed by their own company. Heres my question a loan processor collected all of our information that the branch manger told us we needed (the branch manager is the lady we are working with) now does all this go to an underwriter? Is a loan processor the same as an underwriter and how much longer will it take to find out if our mortgage is approved.
they also had my husbands employment verified, hes been with the Army 15 years so far, we are using the VA loan

Open Question: Is Obama, trying to include Republicans in his presidency and policies, making a big mistake?
He said he was going to unite the country and not resort to bipartisanship. Looks like that was not such a good idea.
I wrote this in a blog at the Huffington post after the article. For some reason I feel like the republicans, as citizens, not politicians, would agree with me. To a certain extent, of course. lol. Could it be possible?

As JulieCarol I wrote:
"I live in Kentucky. I guess it's time to write to McConnell again. Not like it does any good. He doesn't listen to the people, he never has. I can't believe he won re-election, it makes me sick. But I have to give it a try. Would asking him to think about the economy and the people of this country instead of his rich corporate friends for once be too much to ask? I think Obama should do what he said he was gonna do and be damned the Republicans if they don't want to come together for the well-being of their own country. They will do everything they can to delay whatever Obama puts on the table. It's almost criminal in my opinion.
I say we let big business go under and start over with locally owned business and all of us supporting our own communities. I'm tired of corporate America. Selling us drugs, contaminating our food, and forcing us to swim in debt as a way of life. I know, I'm not a economist. It's just my ideal of a Utopia."
OOPS! I meant partisanship ... my bad.

Open Question: Where are some great pet stores specializing in fish, aquatics and supplies in the Houston area?
I'm looking for some great pet stores (family owned, locally owned, small chains) that specialize in fish, aquariums and supplies. I love all fish, but I have only dealt with freshwater.
I live in Baytown, but it doesn't matter which side of Houston it's on. I'm just tired of Petco and Petsmart and the little pet shop we have here which is awful.
Thanks so much for your help!

Open Question: What is the value of having Jesus manifest to you, and what do you have to do to make him certainly manifest?
Most Christians are very happy to go through life and never have Jesus manifest. This is like getting married by mail order or over the phone and never seeing who you are theoretically married to. Maybe have test-tube children you never see.
This morning my co-worker told about a girl in the Pentecostal church her son goes to who gave a testimony (about how Jesus was "blessing" her, no doubt) and fell down and died practically instantly.
Not only were "Born Again" "Holy Ghost baptized" CHRISTIANS present, but Holy Ghost baptized MEDICAL DOCTORS- one of whom was a published author of a Christian book. (I bought the book because I wanted to know how come he had an accident and it took "Jesus" two years to heal him- and he still walks with a limp. Have never got round to reading it. He is an ordained pastor as several of these abominations are.)
The girl could have been suffering from anything from sickle-cell disease to malaria fever, but she would have been unable to say anything but "It is well!" (2nd Kings 4:26), and "I am strong!" (Joel 3:10), which are meaningless unless you have the "Rock Foundation" of having PHYSICALLY DONE all the Righteous Works Commanded by Jesus (Matt. 7:21-29; John 15:6-8). Or unless you know the hypocritical trick pulled by the corrupt Senior Brethren, of availing yourself of the finest medical attention affordable, and "Giving The Glory to God" saying that it was JESUS not medical science that was healing you.
I had preached to warn Christians locally of their vulnerability, because the Fool Gospel Clergymen demagogically tell people what they want to hear, and tell them to ignore cases where their doctrine does not work. The commonsense thing to do in a church where the prayers hundreds, even thousands of Holy Ghost baptized members could not save one little girl's life is to LEAVE.
ISAIAH 44:20.
20. He feedeth on ashes:
a deceived heart hath turned him aside,
that he cannot deliver his soul, nor say,
"Is there not a lie in my right hand?"
I HAD A BULLETIN board made, which I used to post messages for anyone to see, giving my spiritual findings explaining how divine healing does and does not work. What The New Birth is and isn't.
Holy Ghost baptism, and how to control it. My messages were vandalized when I used the public student boards in the halls on campus, therefore I made my own.
My board was vandalized, and my messages stolen.
Later on there was a continous crime wave that could have been stopped by the application of my teachings, with several deaths.
The hold of these wicked clergymen was so strong, that even facing possible death, no one wants to even look at my recommendations.
I do not really care.
I do not now, and will never pray for God to give me followers or comrades. People either want this Knowledge, or they want to die without knowing it. It is their choice. These things happen because Christians do not repect Jesus' Least Commandments (Matt. 5:16-20).

Resolved Question: Is it sexy that I'm a writer?
What do you think of this?
I'm applying to write for the website phonearena.com...
When wireless becomes incorporated into niche culture current events, the foot traffic at a tiny T-Mobile kiosk in Carbondale, Ill mall becomes an inside-information booth. I?ve been in wireless for a while now, and every time I meet anyone, randomly or at work I hear the same question, posed in a formidable manner and presented as if their information acquired will override the information no one truly knows:
?Now that I?m on Verizon can I text other Verizon people for free??
?Now that Verizon bought Alltel will I have to switch to T-Mobile??
I usually tell them the same answer. I say: ?let me see your phone? and if they show me a handset with the words ?Alltel? on it, I simply say ?you?re on Alltel for now, and that as far as any of us, in the wireless business or not, know thus far.?
This merger is a beautiful mess. It has created such a stir, and furthered the impression that wireless companies have absolutely no idea how to run a fair business. The public, at least from the perspective of a salesperson, believes all of us are money grubbing, overcharging, scandalous-seething fat cats. It?s become common to be accused of just seeking commission from a client instead of honestly wanting to help them, and that?s hurtful to someone who actually loves to sell wireless.
Yet, on the other hand, the promotion of smaller companies is exciting. I worked at a Verizon Wireless agent for 2 years. I enjoy seeing the potential a locally owned company can have while selling a major necessity. I am a fan of grassroot operations. I left Verizon Wireless after the Alltel buyout to work for a T-Mobile agent. T-Mobile, as of now, isn?t very prevalent in Southern Illinois. With this merger, however, the increased competition between carriers and the population shifting due to their disgust of a major company will make T-Mobile expand. With the multiple towers guaranteed to us in this area, coupled with the fact the only T-Mobile dealer here is a locally owned agent, makes the company exclusively interesting. Within the time I?ve worked with the public peddling cell phones I?ve seen both sides of this mess. While at Verizon the customers were bitter, their bills were ridiculous, their phones were replaced 6-7 times, ect. The people I deal with at T-Mobile (and some of them are the same I had at Verizon) are so much happier, simply because their getting start over with something new.

Voting Question: Which Caribbean island would be the best choice for me an my husband?
Here is a little about us and our travel style:
- not looking for any type of clubbing/dancing, we prefer a mellow chill little village
- love outdoor activities and would enjoy hiking, biking, snorkeling, surfing,
- looking for a BEAUTIFUL beach
- we don't enjoy large all-inclusive resorts or cruises....we would rather stay in a small locally owned guesthouse or B&B.
- easy access (we only have a week) prefer a location we could fly direct from Florida.
Thank you!
We have never been anywhere in the Caribbean....only Central America and Europe .
