Little Big League
When the owner of the hapless Minnesota Twins (talk about art imitating life) dies and leaves his grandson (Luke Edwards) the team in his will, the 12-year-old decides to manage the team himself. Aside from the obvious headline value of his move, no one seems to like the idea and the kid finds himself battling for his fledgling managerial career. Eventually, however, he wins the confidence of his favorite player (Timothy Busfield) and before long has the team playing like kids: for the fun of it, rather than the money. (Now there's a concept.) Though billed as a family movie, the saccharine level is high enough to scare off most adults. But kids, particularly baseball fans, will eat it up, as much for the appearances of baseball stars like Ken Griffey Jr. and Paul O'Neill as for the plot itself. --Marshall Fine

Open Question: Pick Suicide or runaway?
You have to read my first question to answer properly. My mom's new year's resolution was to stop drinking. Now a week since she stopped, and she thinks she's not a alcoholic anymore. Today i didn't run to catch a phone call when she asked me to. She got mad yelled at me told me to walk to gymnastics which i have calculated is 36.5 miles away, and 51 minutes away by car. I got her to take me to get car pooled and she said she was done with me and i was cut off. That no money would go towards me for cheerleading or band trip. I'll lose my scholarship. Tonight she was sober again and started calling me names in front of my father he didn't care (fag, faggot, homo, and queer for example). Now i'm stuck in my room barely with the internet. I'm tired of my life i don't have a life so it really doesn't matter. My older siblings think i'm a joke because i'm a straight cheerleader. If i wasn't born in this hell hole i wouldn't have signed up for cheerleading i would have stuck to baseball but it's to late to. I'm ready to leave. I know suicide is not an option, neither is running away but it was the only way to get people to answer me. She hates me and don't tell me she doesn't shes always praised my siblings for doing good but has never praised me even though i have done more good things then any of them(grades, community service for example).

Resolved Question: 3 mile race for 8 & 9 year olds?
My 8 & 9 year old children are in a running club after school. They have been going twice a week for a few months. Well, they have a race at the end of March & my daughter just told me that it is a 3 mile race. My kids get plenty of excercise. We play football, baseball, hike, etc every week. We walk a lot too. However, they have only been running for 2 months. I don't feel they have enough time to prepare for that long of a race. Originally they were supposed to only run a 1 mile, but because of the fires here the training was postponed & they couldn't race in that one. Now, this is the only kids race left this year. They have been working hard, but it just seems like too much to me. Also, most things comes easily to my daughter. However, running isn't her strength. It is good for her to try something that she enjoys, but may not be the best at. My son is only a year younger & is always in the shadows. He is really good at running. The confidence he gained with it has carried over into everything else. This has been so positive for both of them, so I am torn. Any advice?
Deffinately not afraid they will fail. It is just for fun. I just don't want them to feel like they have to finish it if it gets to be too much for them. They have never done anything like this & I am unsure if they know when they have had enough.

Resolved Question: contradiction of the bible, is it true or false part 1?
When I was a kid, my foster parents took me to my first baseball game. I don't remember the name of the team we were playing against but I do remember there was a lot of people at the game. If you would have asked me how many people were at the game, I probably would have told you twenty thousand since I was only four years old at the time. Numbers were not my thing as a kid. And everyone knows, the Yankee stadium does not hold twenty thousand people. The last time I went to a baseball game was when I lived in California. The Angels were playing against the Chicago White Sox. Our church decided to see who knew how many fans were in the stadium. The person who came to the closest number would win a free meal during the game. I did not pick twenty thousand this time. I won't go into how many I picked (Embarrassing), but I will tell you, I had to buy my own food that night. I was off by a mile. Even my pastor was off. My point of this story is to say this. If you take ten people to a game and ask them to give you a count of how many people are at the stadium. All ten people will have a different count. Some may be close and some may be off. No one person is going to see the same thing that another person sees as far as the number of people in a large crowd. One author in the bible may have wrote 10.000 people. While another author may have wrote 14.000. I doubt serious if any of the writers knew exactly the count of people that were there, but guessing the same way I guess as a little child and as a grown man. Does this make the bible a contradiction in its story? No it doesn't. Does it make the authors liars? No it doesn't. This is what they saw and this is what they believe to be.

Voting Question: Is it alright for a kitten (young cat) to stay in garage?
I have a feeling the kitten may have been set out by someone on the highway (I'm about 100 yards from the highway) and it found it's way to me. I'm also pretty certain it may have had some kind of "run-in" with another animal or predator. It's not injured in any way but it appears to be pretty frightened at times.
It seems to be a pretty loving kitten (outside of being nervous at times) and I initially placed food on the front porch when I first saw it. However, I worried that it might be too cold for it on the first night it was here so I brought it into my garage. My parents (who live a few miles away) happened to have a litter box and some left over litter (from a cat of ours that died a few months ago at the age of 22). I put the litter box in the garage as well as the food and have also built a small house in the garage next to the litter box and food and have placed some heat pads and a pet bed inside.
I can get the kitten to come inside the house but it seems somewhat intent on staying in the garage as it will usually go to the kitchen door and wait until I let it out - the garage is enclosed so I'm comfortable letting it stay out there as it remains away from predators, etc. Everything that I can think of that is hazardous (anti-freeze, etc) is inside a closet door in the garage that stays closed unless I'm specifically needing something. Before getting ready for work in the mornings, I have been bringing the kitten inside and pulling my truck out of the garage to heat it and closing the door in the process. Then I got back in the front door and let the kitten back into the garage where it stays until I return home.
My questions are:
1.) Can the kitten grow into a healthy adult with just dry food or should I give it a mixture of dry / wet food?
2.) Is the garage an acceptable place for it to stay if that continues to remain it's preference?
3.) Any other tips / suggestions for raising the kitten? (I have already scheduled an appointment with the veterinarian and intend of getting its shots and scheduling an appointment for it to be fixed).
4.) Any suggestions for a good kitten toy? I have given it a stuffed bear (in its house in the garage) and a few small plush balls (football, tennis, baseball). It seems as though it has only bonded with the bear and the football (in fact, it will carry the football from place to place in its mouth)... I'm looking for something that can keep it active while I am away and cannot play with it.

Voting Question: What should I do? Someone help?
First. My parents are both alcoholics. My mom is drunk every night by 6:00 and drinks until 12:00 when she goes to bed. Then she wakes up hungover the next day and takes everything out on me. My Dad just drinks constantly and yells and cusses at me all the time. I could be a mile away at a friend's house and he will call me and tell me to WALK home and pick up a newspaper out of the driveway and throw it away. Then when I get all the way back to my friends house he will call me again and tell me I have to come shut the door to my room. He makes me clean the entire house, including his room and his bathroom, and if I don't do it "correctly" he cusses, usually hits me, and makes me start over. He never does anything around the house. My parents buy about 5 12-packs of beer a week and finish them by the end of the week. They buy me 6 small microwave pizzas and 2 packs of macaronie and cheese. I always have to wait til 10:00 at night to cook them myself. My mom spends her entire day home from work in our basement playing Yahoo Spades, smoking and drinking. Both of my parents smoke about 3 packs a day inside the house and car and don't even try to stop. My dad always calls me worthless and used to hit me, but doesn't as much anymore. He has literally punched me in the face before. He usually picks me up by my throat and yells at me. He steals stuff I buy with my own money and breaks it. He says he does everything for me, and so does my mom, but the only thing I can recall them doing is letting me play baseball. But when I started to lose interest, they pushed me and made me practice extra when my arm was hurt and I ended up with a fractured growth plate and a ripped ligament. I was told by a doctor that I had to have surgery if I ever wanted to pitch again, but my mom won't get it and has signed me up for another season of baseball. My parents don't believe anything I say, either. One time, I had appendicitis. I told them how much pain I was in and they told me I was faking and made me go to school. The next morning it ruptured and I was screaming and throwing up and my parents told me just to go to bed. Had I listened to them I would be dead right now. Then because they waited so long to take me I had to stay in the hospital for a week and they blame me for the cost. They push me so hard in everything it's like they don't even care when something is wrong. Then about a month ago, my counseler diagnosed me as bipolar and told my parents to take me to a doctor and a therapist. My dad called him a liar and never took me. And lastly, today, my mom called my girlfriend a whore and my parents made me go to the mall and buy my own lunch at 3 and use all of my money for that. Then I didn't have anything to eat the rest of the day. I tried to make mac and cheese later for dinner. My dad came down and dumped it out and yelled at me. I said I didn't want to live in this house anymore and he said he was gonna kick me out as soon as it was legal and that he didn't need this "garbage" living in his house stealing his money, and he reminded me that my brothers are so much better than me at everything and that I'm worthless and a liar about being hungry. My mom was already passed out so she couldn't do anything. I know I've said a lot, but there is a lot going on here, and I REALLY need to know what to do. Please help.
