Oswald - Outdoors With Oswald
Oswald - Outdoors With Oswald From the beach to the back yard, the blue octopus and his buddies find plenty to learn in the outdoors. On a trip to the shore, Henry the penguin paradoxically doesn't want to get his feathers wet, but rises to the challenge when reckless Daisy needs rescuing. Next, Oswald has the difficult task of judging which of his friends' sand sculptures should win the annual contest. (Two words: Everybody wins!) Back at home, when snails invade Oswald's tomato garden, the accommodating octopus buys new tomato plants to share. But the snails eat those, too. Finally, bird watcher Oswald gets impatient with his impulsive floral friend when she keeps scaring off his targets. But those same qualities come in handy when he needs her to bring him down from the back of a giant Mee-Tah bird. This gentle Nick Jr. series cleverly echoes and resolves many of the issues children face. (Ages 2 to 6) --Kimberly Heinrichs

Barney's Outdoor Fun
Barney's Outdoor Fun When young Stephen shows up in a khaki vest with a pair of binoculars and a yen to be a forest ranger, it's Barney's signal to take the crew to Camp WannaRunnaRound for some hiking, fishing and--of course--plenty of singing and dancing. Once out in the woods, the crew is joined by B.J. and Baby Bop for some catch-and-release fishing and a "Lake Medley." Next, Counselor Barney shows the kids how to set up a tent, pack for a day hike, and problem-solve when it comes to a fallen log. The hikers see a squirrel and a raccoon, sing the environment-friendly "Pick Up Your Part of the World," and end up around the campfire telling stories. When they get too scary for Baby Bop, the gang opts to listen to the sounds of insects instead. This 50-minute program satisfyingly sets up basic camp etiquette for either a structured facility or family outings. (Ages 2 to 6) --Kimberly Heinrichs

Open Question: Outdoor pond keeps freezing over...!?
My outdoor pond freezes over every night and the ice is getting harder and harder. A family of wild frogs live in there and I'm wondering what I should do? Soon the frogs should be laying their frog spawn and last year the pond froze so badly that it killed all the spawn and I really don't want that happening again! Any tips for stopping it from freezing? And should I break the ice? and if I should break the ice should I break it with a rake or by poring hot water on it? And also do you know if frogs can breathe under iced water? Thanks :-) There are no fish in the pond. (more...)

Open Question: Am I psychic? can you be half psychic? ?
my mom says I have E.S.P [[extra sensory perception]] she says she has it to. I don't know if I actually am 'psychic'. I just know when a few things are going to happen, totally random things. like for one day A thought popped into my head 'your cellphone is going to ring in class' no one ever called my phone during school. the thought just kept popping in my head all week and i had a gut feeling about it, at the very end of the week in my math class my phone rang,it was my friend [she was sick] i almost got detention. [This one is the weirdest] I was at a summer camp with my boyfriend. I was asleep in girls camp [its outdoor] it was about 2 in the morning and I woke up randomly and the first thought that came to my head was 'my boyfriends not coming to the morning hike' [which took place at 5 am] as soon as I opened my eyes it came. I felt like something was 'with' me like around me i was looking every where and all i could see were trees and all the other campers. it turns out he didnt make it to the hike. there is a story behind the camp, its over 100 years old and a family who used to own it is buried on the property. another time I woke up with a crappy feeling the worst feeling ever, a thought popped into my head 'take down that video' I titled a video with an offensive title towards this other girl. I was feeling lazy and didnt want to take it down the feeling just got worse as the thought kept repeating in my head it turns out later that day my mother found it and grounded me for 3 months. and about a year ago my little sister [scared] said ' mommy! I keep having a feeling these things will happen and they do!' so am I psychic? it is a bit genetic isnt it? i'm not sure because sometimes i feel like things are going to happen, ive realized the more I want to have it like request to know about something i tell myself get something I dont get it. I havent had it for a while it's on and off (more...)

Open Question: Is there Chinese verion of the report "Temple Bar"?
I am looking for the Chinese version of the below article. If you read it be4, please show me its mandarin version, Thanks. Temple Bar It?s tacky. It?s touristy. It?s packed with falling-down-drunks at night and carpeted with vomit of a morning but Temple Bar, the city?s prime entertainment and eating spot, still has a certain something. As one of Dublin?s oldest area, Temple Bar?s fortunes have ebbed and flowed for centuries. The western boundary, Fishamble Street, is the city?s oldest street, and dates to Viking times. Crime and prostitution moved in during the 18th century, followed by small craft and trade businesses in the 19th century. By the first half of the 20th century Temple Bar had sunk into decline, along with most of central Dublin. A 1960s plan to build a major bus depot here was put on hold and by the 1980s the dilapidated area was home to a thriving community of artistes and cultural groups who paid low or no rents. The government soon recognized that local energy, and in 1991 began a major revamp. Ironically, among the tourist-fodder restaurants and pubs, you?ll find some excellent galleries, off-beat shops and an independent cinema. On Saturday Dublin?s foodies, families and city strollers amass at the excellent organic food market in Meeting house Sq to sample everything from tapas and farmhouse cheeses, to oysters and Guinness. By night from May to September the square transforms into an open-air cinema, sometimes accompanied by live music from the Ark?s outdoor stage, as part of the annual Diversions festivals. (more...)

Resolved Question: Tips on Puppy Training?
Hi, I have a rottweiler puppy, he's just 2 months old, he is the cutest thing ever, his name is Rocky ;). We feed him well, he sleeps inside the house and spends time outside for most of the day. (we live in a tropical country) Rocky gets fed 3 times a day and we are still potty training him. Well, he is starting to teethe so he chews a lot, he may bite on our feet or house slippers, we tell him no, but sometimes he continues to follow and yeah..so i'd like tips on chewing and other things i need to know. also i took him to the vet a few days ago for a check up to make sure my little guy's alright. I hope he grows up good and happy and lives for a long time. Rocky seems happy here in my home, i have lots of outdoor space and is largely fenced to prevent problems with Rocky. So tips on rottweilers are greatly appreciated and please tell me what i should know, and i hope im doing a good job. =) and plus the rest of my family aren't having any problems with Rocky and actually they love him too. ^-^ Oh, we also give him good attention too, and we always provide fresh water and a good warm (not too cold or too hot) bath using Alpo/purina shampoo. We feed him alpo dry puppy food and mix it with pedigree canned puppy food. and one more thing..we are potty training him to 'go' outside and he loves the great outdoors :) and so far...he's doing well with the potty training, i think its just that he needs constant supervision but someone's always here to watch him =D (more...)

Open Question: Senior cat eating excessively?
My friend's family has a senior cat, about 13 years old. She is an indoor/outdoor cat. Lately whenever I am over at my friend's house I have noticed that the cat is constantly looking for food. They only feed the cat dry food and only once a day, but this is how the cat has always been fed and if she is fed more than once a day she gobbles up her food and licks the bowl clean everytime. I know this is a new habit, the cat did not behave like this 5 years ago when I met my friend. The cat will eat anything, tonight I witnessed her eating peas and carrots from a pot left on the counter and she was eating the graham cracker crust from a slice of cheesecake. Also a bout a month ago I noticed the cat seemed to be acting weird. She was letting out these horrible meows and she honestly sounded like she was in pain. From watching the way the cat eats I am thinking she may have worms. I know my friend's parents do not take their pets to the vet, which is something I do not approve of! I was thinking of taking th cat to the vet myself, but I know that if I do, the vet is probably going to want to give it all kinds of shots and probably run all kinds of tests. Now if this was my own cat or the family was going to give some money towards the bill I would mind, but I'm pretty sure money is the main reason why their pets don't go to the vet. And since I have two cats of my own that I must provide and care for I can not afford the expense of a third. So, I am wondering if anyone might be able to give me some ideas as to what would be causing the cat to act like she's starving? I'm also wondering if maybe I should try a dewormer from a pet store and see if that helps? I know my friend would pay the vet bills if it was his cat, but since it's more his brother and sister's cat he feels they or his parents should care for it, and his financal situation is also not the best. He has told his mother that there is something wrong with "Kitty" and she needs to go to the vet, but his mother just says she's fine. And for some reason his family seems to be in denial that pets need medical care like people. So, I'm just looking for some ideas and suggestions as to what my friend and I can possibly do. Or maybe this excessive eating is something normal for older cats? Also, I completely agree with anyone who feels you shouldn't have a pet if you aren't going to properly care for it, and vet visits are involved in proper care for a pet. We have tried to explain to his family that pets need doctors too, but our words fall on deaf ears. :( (more...)

Open Question: Can anyone Proofread my letter?
I want this letter to be effective as possible. English is my second language, so please don't mind. January 5, 2009, My neighbors and I are very disturbed because there are whole bunch of people outside our homes who are consistently out of control. These people would loiter, play loud music outdoor, make noises (screaming, shouting, yelling), play cards, graffiti, litter, throw objects, and pound on the electric circuit boxes. Making matter worse, they seemed to not mind their own business. For example, sometimes when my family watches TV, the people outside would make even louder noises as if they are proving a point. They would go on making all sorts of ruckus whether it?s daytime or nighttime. Many of the neighbors are too scared to call security because we are threatened by these people. Few of us had already complained to the security officers and the management center. However, no results took place. We even told the people outside to stop. Not only they didn?t listen, but these people would purposely pursue their negative actions even further. We are living in an unsafe and unmerciful environment for way too long. My neighbors and I believe we have the rights to live in a peaceful and quiet home of Kukui Gardens. We are looking forward to a resolution of these problems as soon as possible. (more...)

Resolved Question: i need help on finding a career?
only thing is i dont know what i wanna be, some broad ideas of what i like to do are mainly outdoors, my dad is a fireman and teaches all sorts of rec classes im not much a teacher but i'd love to help and show ppl what to do such as scuba, and other outdoor activities, im a hands on guy, i hate offices and cubicles, i wanna get out and do something, i have no college degree, i did grad high school, and im not lookin for a HIGH paying job, but a job that would allow me to support a family. any ideas? i have considered the fireman position but most the firefighters my dad works with have "other jobs" mainly side jobs which isn't so bad like chuck does woodworking stuff, and tony does bike repair, someones an electrician so i might consider it, but i would need a "hobby" i guess and i cant really think of any that could generate money :P (more...)
