I have a Dell XPS M1710. Vista has broken. All hardware checks ok- need to system restore. I cannot do this through the advanced boot menu> repair your computer options as i get a blue screen. Dell have advised the only thing i can do is but a new copy of Vista as they didn't give me a copy with the laptop. I didn't know i was meant to get one so didn't report its absence, but lets not get into my arguments with Dell this week! My question really is I brought a home PC with Vista Home Premium and can I install that using the product key on my Dell laptop (It came with that at least!!)? Hey I have a Sony Vaio laptop and it is a Windows Vista Home Premium and it just turned a year old since I brought it new last year out the box. About a month ago, while I was doing something I left my computer on and when I came back into my room it was a blue screen with crash dumping of my memory but it froze and I just shut it down but it wouldnt start back up regularly it would just be a black screen after the sony vaio logo but i disconnected everything and turned the computer off and after 3 days it came back on normally. Now again while I was on the computer the "blue screen of death" came on my screen for the second time and I tried to disconnect everything, leave the computer off, put it in a different boot sequence and it still doesnt work. My laptop will not boot or start back up after the sony vaio logo screen and I dont have a safe mode button and I dont have any money now to fix it. When I bought it, it didnt come with a package of windows vista disk and all that stuff AT ALL! But i got another Windows Vista desktop in my living room. I tried to purchase an airline ticket from USAirways.com. I thought I had purchased a ticket two months ago. However, when I called them to confirm this morning, they had no record of my purchase. I was very puzzled. I purchased another ticket and after I clicked the button marked "purchase", I was redirected to another screen that asked me to sign up for a US Airways credit card. In order to purchase my ticket, I had to either sign up for or decline the credit card. Only in very small print at the top of the page did it say "Click a button below to complete your ticket purchase. Closing this window will cancel your reservation". I realized then that the reason I did not have my previous reservation is that I had encountered this screen before and had not understood from the fine print that it was a barrier to purchasing a ticket. The original cost of my ticket two months ago was $153. Today, it was around $600. I had to buy two tickets, one for myself and one for my husband. So, in addition to feeling like a fool, I ended up paying a premium of $350 because US Airways duped me into thinking that I had purchased a ticket when I had not. Hi there, I've got Windows Vista Home Premium on my Acer Aspire 5103WLMi Laptop, in my windows task bar (bar at bottom of screen), in the bottom right-hand corner are little icons, when i want to get rid of an icon i right click on the taskbar, go to properies, 'Notification Area', then make sure 'hide inactive icons' i clicked, and then i go to 'customise' and then put all of them to 'hide' and click ok, it all works fine but when i turn the laptop on all of them are hidden apart from my graphic's cards icon, my graphic card is ATI Radeon Xpress, and the icon will never go away, could someone help me? I have Windows vista home premium and there are some videos that cause my PC to freeze. It doesn't happen right away but after a period of time watching the video the screen will get these black and white lines all over it and when you do anything to the computer it freezes. When it does all you can do is force shut it down. As far as i know this doesn't happen with Youtube and not very frequently on Hulu though it has happened occasionally. Other video players like Mega Video and Supernova Tube it happens all the time. It also doesn't happen with Quick time or WMP. I have Windows Vista Premium on my laptop (Intel Core 2 Duo @ 2.26Ghz P8400, 4 GM Ram), and when I start the computer, the ASUS logo comes up immediately, then the whole screen goes black for about a minute before I get the screen to log on. Once I log on the desktop loads up very quickly, but I am wondering what is causing the laptop to sit on a black screen for so long. Its a brand new laptop and its been doing this since day 1. Suggestions? Thanks in advance I bought it online, so I didn't ask them, and yeah, I get the Windows Logo but its right after the black screen.
