Open Question: Questions about rental agreement form?
I filled out a rental agreement form today. It had several questions that I did not fill out because I didn't know if they were considered appropriate to ask. The form had been downloaded from the Web. If you have experience in the industry, please let me know.
What I left blank:
Social security number
Date of birth
Annual salary
Bank account number (maybe balance too - though I don't remember for sure).
I gave all other information (references, past history, boss's name and number, etc.) and told them that if they needed anything further to be able to run a credit check, to just ask and I'd give it to them. I'm more familiar with what is asked and not asked in a job interview - less familiar with this kind of thing.
Are the above questions considered appropriate in a rental agreement? Don't just check boilerplate forms on the internet, because they got their form that way. I'm more interested in hearing from those with industry knowlege.
Thanks a whole lot.

Open Question: can you help me with a math problem?
a gym charges nonmembers $18 per day to use the tennis courts plus $7 per day to rent equipment. Members pay $600 annual dues plus $5 per day for equipment rental. How many days must a nonmember and a member of the gym use the tennis courts in one year so that they both pay the same amount?
Your answer would really help alot! Thank you.

Resolved Question: Reports of the economy's demise - are they greatly exaggerated?
I'm here in Salzburg, Austria with my girlfriend on our annual Christmas tour of Europe, and business seems okay. Lots of tourists are here, and the shops/restaurants seem busy. The ski resort we visited had a good crowd, and when I rented our car out of Vienna, the rental agency's Maserati was already rented, and they only had two Bentleys left (one after I rented ours).
Back in America, it seems like only a handful of very troubled or irresponsible states (such as Michigan) are in truly bad economic shape. The rest of the country seems to be moving along more or less as usual. I guess there are somewhat fewer soirees and catered events at my boating club, but there are still plenty.
Poor people in America might have it somewhat roughter, but they've always had it rough; that's nothing unusual.
So, given all this, why do people say the economy is "bad?" I'd say the economy is not as hot as it once was, but let's be real - it looks okay for normal folks like myself.

Resolved Question: Corporation Tax Return - Difference between 'Maintenance', 'Update' and 'Repair'?
Hi,
Do they have different tax implication - 'Maintenance', 'Update' and 'Repair' when filing a corporation tax return? OR: do they all have exactly the same tax implication as they are all under expenses?
Also, are all 3 related to annual income and expense and not to capital expense? I'm asking because on a few items I am not 100% sure if they belong to repair, maintenance or update. However if it does not affect TAX I will not worry about it too much as it is not that important. (an example is buying a used hot water tank when I discontinued renting a hot water tank in a rental property when the contract ended!?) THANKS.

Resolved Question: Do you think the Frankfurt market in Birmingham is a good idea?
For those not in the know it is an annual event having a German market from now until Christmas in the centre of Birmingham, I believe other cities have similar events. What I want to know is it good economic policy to have foreign traders selling foreign goods and taking their profits to a foreign country whilst our own traders are having a lean time. Or does it boost business for the city centres whilst giving the council a hefty boost in revenue for the rental of the spaces the stalls take up?
Your opinions would be nice

Resolved Question: Rental Question. Ed owns Oak Knoll Apartments. ?
During the year, Fred, a tenant, moved
to another state. Fred paid Ed $1,000 to cancel the two-year lease he had signed. Ed subsequently rented the unit to Wayne. Wayne paid the first and last months? rents of $800 each and a security deposit of $500. Ed also owns a building that is used as a health club.
The club has signed a fifteen-year lease at an annual rental of $17,000. The owner of the club requested that Ed install a swimming pool on the property. Ed declined to do so. The owner of the club finally constructed the pool himself at a cost of $15,000. What amount
must Ed include in gross income?
