Running with the Buffaloes: A Season Inside with Mark Wetmore, Adam Goucher, and the University of Colorado Men's Cross-Country Team
Running with the Buffaloes: A Season Inside with Mark Wetmore, Adam Goucher, and the University of Colorado Men's Cross-Country Team In RUNNING WITH THE BUFFALOES, writer Chris Lear follows the University of Colorado cross-country team through an unforgettable NCAA season. Allowed unparalleled access to team practices, private moments, and the mind of Mark Wetmore--one of the country's most renowned and controversial coaches--Lear provides a riveting look inside the triumphs and heartaches of a perennial national contender and the men who will stop at nothing to achieve excellence. The Buffaloes' 1998 season held great promise, with Olympic hopeful Adam Goucher poised for his first-ever NCAA cross-country title, and the University of Colorado shooting for its first-ever national team title. But in the rigorous world of top-level collegiate sports, blind misfortune can sabotage the dreams of individuals and teams alike. In a season plagued by injury and the tragic loss of a teammate, the Buffaloes were tested as never before. What these men managed to achieve in the face of such adversity is the stuff of legend and glory.
With passion and suspense, Lear captures the lives of these young men and offers a glimpse of what drives a gifted runner like Adam Goucher and a great coach like Mark Wetmore. Like Lance Armstrong's It's Not About the Bike, RUNNING WITH THE BUFFALOES is at once a glowing celebration of a sport and an inspiration to anyone who has ever had the courage to beat the odds and follow a dream.

Open Question: how come OU is in such a funk in bowl games in the past 5 years? HORRIBLE!!?
They only have like 1 bowl win in the past 5 years. What is the roadblock? Remember the hook n ladder against Boise St? Maybe they run their mouths, like Franks did by calling Tebow the 4th best QB in the Big 12? How sad! They're becomming the Buffalo Bills of the college game. (more...)

Open Question: Router Help, Buffalo Airstation?
Ok, here's the layout In one room i have the telstra ADSL with its modem with a BUFFALO AIRSTATION WHR-G125. We have 3 Laptops. 1 Laptop is wired to the router. But the other two are in different rooms and both have a wireless LAN switch. Ive Installed the Client Drivers on Both Laptops But only one seems to connect, but both wont connect simultaneously. One will connect when the other one is off and vise versa. My problem is how can i get all 3 computers( 1 wired, 2 Wireless to the Router) to run at the same time. The Wired Computer always connects there is no problem there. The Router is confiqured to a WEP encription and im not to sure whats its about. So if anyone knows how to connect both together at the same time it would be great thanks. (more...)

Open Question: California Natural Dog Food?
I just switched my pup over to adult food today. He was eating Lamb Meal and Rice from Cali Nat. The first ingredient was Lamb Meal and I've been told this is a good food and have seen great results. Today, I decided to mix up the flavors a little bit since I was getting a new food and got the Herring and Sweet Potato. However, upon getting home, I looked it up on the dogfoodanalysis website and it was saying that there is no way herring can be the first ingredient because it is so water based. It also said that this food is full of grain and does not have near enough meat. The analysis was 21 crude protein, 11 fat, and 3.7 fiber. It is only ranked as a 4 star food. When I first got him I had him on Blue Buffalo, but he has constant runs and they would not go away even after months of being on the food. That was when I switched to Cali Nat and he hasn't had any problems since then. So I feel like I can't have him on a Super Premium food because it's too rich for him. Does the herring Cali Nat seem okay? Or should I switch back to the Lamb or Chicken? Or should I just switch foods entirely? I would need a good food that would not be too rich for his stomach. Also, on a sidenote. I only feed him a cup a day. It says I should feed him more. He is a 50 lb dog. But he looks fine? Should I feed him more just because it says to or should I use my own judgement? He just went to the vet last week and she said he looked the perfect size. (more...)

Resolved Question: What to do when a dog cannot handle high quality foods?
I've tried Canidae, Innova and Blue Buffalo Wilderness and my boy Ace can not handle those good my other 2 pits do fine. I'm not sure if it has to do with his background (very bad mange and was 30lbs underweight) before i got him or what. But i dont see how his past would make a difference. But any high quality food gives him very very bad gas, runny stools and i can tell he is in discomfort.... a couple weeks ago i had to go out of town and my mom watched him and ran out of food well she got him some Purina (she didnt know any better) but on that food he had no gas and solid stools and seemed to feel better all around... I don't understand it at all. I dont want to feed him a low quality food, but i also don't want him to be in any discomfort or pain. Any suggestions appreciated. Yes i would be interested Bindi...But do not know the first thing about feeding raw. Thanks Tulip for the recipes, i'll have to try those. Thanks Loki, ive seen those in Petsmart before but didnt pay any attention to them, i will go and check them out. Thanks Chaos, yea i used to feed pro plen and never had a problem, ill switch him to that. (more...)

Resolved Question: Do buffalo's run fast or slow?

Resolved Question: How do I get this computer to ran Battlefield 2 a little better?
I have a crappy emachine (T3515) model. I have played BF2 on it before and for the most part it does ok. I have the graphics settings on low and sometimes I can get into a server where my ping is low. 40-80. Other times I get into a server and I get kicked out because the ping is so high. So my question is what do I need to do to my computer to get it to run a BF2 a little faster. I have Qwest High-Speed DSL and a Buffalo wireless router. I'm not sure what other specs you need. Or is anyone out there playing the game now and is getting good results from their setup? If so, what setup do you have. (more...)

Open Question: Educational choice: MS in $science or BS in $science / MBA?
My clarification is a little long, sorry, there's a lot of detail... I am entering the University of Buffalo from a community college. Because the transferability of some of my credits is iffy, I am sort of faced with the choice of what I am going to major in over again. Ah, and $science is one of: Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering So my question is kind of two-pronged: should I go for the MS in $science or BS in $science / MBA option? Which is the best value of $science? I *like* all of those fields in their own right equally. They each have their own balance of difficulty vs. familiarity, interesting sub-fields, etc. I'm not really more partial to one than the other. Which is the most marketable I guess? Because I'm impartial, I don't feel like I'm 'selling out' by picking one or the other for purposes of profit. Once I make up my mind about the $science choice, there remains MS vs BS / MBA. The cause for doubt comes from two things: I have a better idea of what an MS in $science does, plus I was kind of 'expected' by everyone to enter a STEM field, even by myself. So this fork in the road is surprising. I am still having a hard time seeing myself as a businessman. I'd like to work in an entrepreneurial capacity and/or in greater China. As far as I know, having an MBA from a good American university is a solid asset in that respect, more so than an MS. Furthermore, UB has long-standing relations with the government of China itself ... even their minister of education Zhou Ji got his degree from UB. Can anyone comment on that? I am not Chinese myself, and don't know any more that what I've heard. Also, I'm not learning much in formal computer science classes. They teach me things I either already know, don't know but can learn on my own, or don't need to know. The greatest challenge in keeping of with a lot of my coursework is not that it's hard, but either too easy or irrelevant. That's kind of an arrogant way of looking at things but it's true in my case ... the most advanced class I've had so far is an introductory data structure and algorithms course and already I've done successful Hopfield network image recognition experiments on my own. Business / social science / social *skills* are newer for me. The point is that, with the BS / MBA option, I reduce the number of dull classes I'll have to take, but maybe I'm forfeiting some other opportunity that I would have with the MS option. I have to register for classes on Tuesday, so time is running out. Any help is appreciated. :) (more...)
