    Voting Question: What should I do for a shortwave antenna?

For the radio my stations of interesting in listening to are in South Africa, I can get the stations but they are very weak and the signal wavers, I'd like to get the signal as clear as possible and I've been looking at the options.     Hi, I live in the mountains. My place is surrounded by trees. I like to listen to a.m. talk shows but get very bad reception, with stations drifting each couple of minutes of listening. I have several radios; however, the only A.M. reception I get at all is with my old Sangean SG 622.FM/MW/SW. I need to pull in stations from about 350 miles + away. I bought a Terk Antenna. But that does not help much. Would someone know of a radio that gives good a.m. reception? I checked customer reviews for a.m. radios on the net but the reviews were mixed.. (more...)

    Yesterday Sharper Image filled chapter 11. Here in the Los Angeles area I wonder which stores will close? The LA area locations are Beverly Hills, Glendale, Arcadia, Encino, Northridge and Redondo Beach. Even thoug many people feel that they are overpriced I tend to disagree. This christmas I bought I Sangean HD Radio and its great. No one else sells Sangean HD radios. A few years ago I bought a neck pillow to use on airplane trips. The neck pillow that Sharper Image sells was $ 60 but well worth it. The neck pillows sold at Macys and Target are uncomfortable junk. The problem with Sharper Image is that from 2001-2005 they over expanded. Many of the new store locations where in places like Nebraska, Kentucky, Oaklahoma and many other places that didn't make sense for The Sharper Image. Hopefully the Encino location will not close. The Sangean HD radio was $250. The Sony HD radio that Best Buy sold for $200 didn't compare to the Sangean. The company has 186 stores currently. They plan to close 90 stores accross the country.     Resolved Question: WiFi Radio Questions?
    This retired technically challenged lady is interested in purchasing a WiFi Radio. We use highspeed and router for our PC. I understand that wifi radio's can be used in any room in the house without the PC needing to be on. I've been researching the Tangent Quattro, The Sangean WFR-20 (seen on CCrane website) and the Roku Soundbridge system. I would appreciate hearing which are best along with pro's and cons. Also with PC turned off - does the radio's require batteries? Our local AM and FM radio stations bring in very limited stations. I am visually impaired and enjoy listening to talk shows.     Resolved Question: Can anyone recommend an exceptional DAB radio ?
    I am looking for an attractive DAB radio in the region of £100. I would like something fairly substantial with excellent sound quality and with good worldwide coverage, esp. for speaking radio. I saw a Sangean model that turns off automatically after a while so you can fall asleep to it, and wondered if this facility comes available in other radios and if so which. Also Pause Plus or equivalent facility would be handy but not essential. I am able to pay a bit extra for a really attractive model, not gimmicky, and preferably something for table use rather than portable. Any suggestions are heartily appreciated. (more...)
