I got an itouch for christmas, but my parents failed to provide a useful case. Not only is it impractical (with it's bulk and the cover I have to flip whenever I want to use my itouch), but it is exactly what I didn't want. Plain black. Whenever I want to hold the itouch comforably or put it into my stereo, I have to take it out of the case. Meanwhile, it's irreversably damaged. Scratches all over the back (only two weeks!). Thankfully, nothing has happened to the screen, but it's only a matter of time. Plus, it's just as sticker. It couldn't have protected it. But I really want that design... any suggestions? Perhaps that sticker with a clear skin over it, and a protective film over the front. Nor have I ever seen a woman take care of a sick or dying spouse. And how unfair is it that women get to retire earlier and don't have to sign up for the draft. Lets not even go into why women live longer. Or why men commit suicide more often than women. Or why the majority of the homeless are men. Or why divorce courts favor women. Or why women receive less punishment than men for anything. Or why 70% of husbands make more money than wives yet women do 80% of the spending. Or why And in exchange for all this women punish men. Women are allowed to hit cheating men, and men who make unwanted sexual advances. I am sure the same does not apply to men whose honor has been compromised. I have never heard of a woman attack another woman for hitting a man. Society is pretty messed up if men protect women and women abuse men. I'm generalizing here. I am sure there are numerous examples of good women. I do know families where the woman works and the man is retired. and women do die to save men both in the military. I know there are heroic women. Women give less sympathy when partners are sick Nor have I ever seen a woman do the protective things men do for wives, and even friends such as giving up seats(and standing uncomfortably on buses for hours), getting the car in the rain,giving up jackets, carrying heavy objects, walking home, driving her home, calling a cab to take her home safely, carrying her when she falls down , calling to make sure she got home safely, holding doors, paying, walking street side and positioning himself in between her and any vicious dog or threat. Even in relationships a man gives more massages, gives up his jacket, gets the car when its raining, gives up shoes if hers breaks, gives up food, gives up the safer car, gives up the health insurance, checks on the noise downstairs, drive in unsafe conditions, gives up his umbrella, gives up his seat, has security systems installed for her, walks her home, drives her home, calls her a cab, gives more in general, calls to make sure she got home safe, comes over in the middle of night to take care of her, does more to cheer her up, carries her heavy packages, picks her up form the bus station at night,saves her and her car from a ditch, makes her feel safe, carries her when she falls down. He is more likely to step in between her and vicious dog or take a bullet for her than vice versa. He gets a vasectomy so she can avoid a tubal( vasectomies are safer the tubals but a vasectomy carries the risk of YEARS of discomfort and pain(what type of woman would let a man risk that)-one guy said even if it was more unsafe he would still take the pain for his wife-no woman thinks like that). Also please write about lines that you love/hate. Any help is much appreciated Thanks :) Survival of the Scaredest Our body?s need to survive can overcome nearly any prior weaknesses. This instinct can transform a strict vegetarian into a turtle butchering, blood sucking, cold blooded killer. In the book Life of Pi by Yann Martel, a sixteen year old boy is trapped in a 26 foot life boat with a 450 pound Bengal tiger. His story begins when Pi is tossed overboard onto a lifeboat as the Tsimtsum, the ship carrying his family and many zoo animals, sinks into the murky depths of the Pacific. Before this tragic disaster Pi was a perfectly harmless vegetarian, but after having only Richard Parker, the infinitely famished tiger, as a companion he had a major change of heart. His survival instinct kicked in and he was forced to make the grave decision to leave his vegetarianism behind along with his false hope that his family had survived this tragic accident. Being trapped in a lifeboat with an unimaginable predator can be the one unifying force powerful enough to insure survival. Pi was trapped with a ferocious beast, one that would expand his fear to a level so great that survival was guaranteed. When Pi found himself alone in the lifeboat with Richard Parker, he abandoned his hope and began to think clearly. He assessed his situation with a clear head and decided to take care of his short term needs rather than long term goals. ?To cope with a hyena seemed remotely possible, but I was so obviously outmatched by Richard Parker that it wasn?t even worth worrying about. With a tiger aboard, my life was over. That being settled, why not do something about my parched throat?? (Page 135) This is Pi in the process of giving up blind hope. In a way being pessimistic temporarily can really do quite a bit of good. This is because you can?t have hope and be pessimistic at the same time. Richard Parker forced Pi to make this decision, and rather quickly. Because of his negative outlook, he was able to take care of basic necessities. ?You might think I lost all hope at that point. I did. And as a result I perked up and felt much better.? (Page 134) Having made this decision Pi feels content with himself; being negative is actually making him feel physically better and more confident and relaxed. Richard Parker unknowingly saved Pi?s life. He was so ferocious that he forced Pi to give up on hope which was another step in the direction of survival. When the element of predator vs. prey is eliminated, survival instincts and fear tend to wither away, so if a new predator is introduced the prey won?t stand a chance. When Pi discovers the island and the meerkats, he lets loose a ravenous beast. The meerkats had long forgotten about predators so they became Richard Parker?s buffet. The strange thing is they were excited, they bounced from the joy, they were truly excited to be dinner. When given the choice of fight or flight, they chose neither; they didn?t fight or try to hide. ?These meerkats had gone for so many generations without predators that any notion of flight distance, of flight, of plain fear, had been genetically weeded out of them.? (Page 268) It seems that Pi seems somewhat jealous of them; they do not have to live with fear or even doubt and insecurity, they are free of pain and suffering. Pi has suffered in the most extreme sense of the word, so it does make sense that he would be jealous. He does have a strong will to live, but he is human and therefore craves the lack of fear. The thing is that if Pi were to lose all sense of fear, his will to live would probably deteriorate seeing as fear is acting as the fuel to the goal of survival. If he wasn?t fearful, he wouldn?t care so much which would make the concept of death much easier to live with. Suffering makes you stronger, and of everything that Pi needs, strength is essential. Without suffering and fear, Richard Parker wouldn?t have awakened him from his blind hope. He would still be relying on hope if he was able to survive long enough. Yet again Pi?s fear of Richard Parker has saved his life. Even though Richard Parker has been a vicious man eater, he was also a protective companion. Even if he was the biggest threat, would you rather be alone? Richard Parker, terrifying as he was, insured survival. He protected Pi, he gave Pi blind-hope-murdering fear, and he often distracted Pi from his suffering. When Pi had a new predator, he attacked just like a body guard would do. ?This was the terrible cost of Richard Parker. He gave me a life, my own, but at the expense of taking one.
