Sony ICF-C318 Automatic Time Set Clock Radio with Dual Alarm (Black)
The correct EST (Eastern Standard Time) has been preset at the factory, so just plug the clock in and adjust the time zone as necessary. In the case of a power interruption, the built-in Lithium battery maintains the correct time so you don't have to re-set the clock. When Daylight Savings Time changes take place in the spring and fall each year, there is no need to adjust the clock because the built-in calendar recognizes the dates and automatically makes the proper time adjustments. Dual Alarms with Alarm Indicator permits two separate wake-up times with individual wake-up settings and confirms that the alarm has been activated to turn on at the pre-set time. Choose your own snooze time instead of being held captive by the short time intervals of other snooze times. Each press of the snooze button adds an additional 10 minutes to your total snooze time for up to a full hour of uninterrupted sleep. Dual Alarms with Alarm Indicators Extendable Snooze AM/FM Analog Tuner Built-in Calendar Frequency Range - AM 530-1710 kHz, FM 87.5-108 MHz Power Requirements - AC 120V, 60Hz Output Power - 120mW at 10% harmonic distortion Battery Life (Approx) - Up to 250 Days (with Sony battery) Speaker Dimensions - 2 5/8-inch (66mm) Dimensions - Width 6 1/8 x Height 3 5/16 x Depth 5 15/16 inch (155 x 82.8 x 151.5mm) Weight - 1 pounds 2 ounces (524 grams)

P.D.Q. Bach: WTWP Classical Talkity-Talk Radio
As we've come to expect from Peter Schickele (aka P.D.Q Bach), this is a comedy CD based thoroughly and utterly in classical music in-jokes, puns, references, mis-hearings, etc. Here, we're in the world of a casual, presumably classical music radio show ("all Pachelbel, all the time"), with a host and two sidekicks, all of whom can't resist "witty" chitchat. There are spoofs of fundraising (they hope for $100.00 by the end of the show), a song called "Sam and Janet," which actually turns into a polyphonic version of "Some enchanted evening" (get it? Sam and Janet = Some enchanted), a set of four folk songs accompanied by "devious instruments," one of which is a cardboard tube, which is to "played" by hitting it against someone's head. And one of the rules of the station is that all music must be in a major key until after 11 PM. Fans of Schickele who truly love his sophisticated spoofs of classical music will find fewer of them here than usual, oddly enough, but the CD is fun. And a highlight is a non-classical number or two (snuck in by the co-hosts, Jocko and Blondie) sung by Elvis's brother "Enos," who liked his name until they started calling his brother "Elvis the Pelvis." Delightful, if this is what you're looking for. --Robert Levine

Resolved Question: What do you think of my short story? Reviews, criticism, horrible insults?
I think I'm going to go insane...
It's been twenty eight days since the seventeenth of December, and the rain hasn't faltered for a second since then. It keeps falling in sheets, driving down from the heavens like a waterfall. Outside, you feel like you could drown walking.
When this all started out, I don't think that anyone thought much of it. I mean, this nightmare was just another winter storm then. It started in kind of an odd place, out in the North Atlantic across from the Gulf of St. Lawrence, but I'm not sure that meant anything to people who weren't meteorologists or oceanographers. The storm started out expanding very rapidly. I'm not sure if it's still growing or not, since the TV hasn't come on for more than three weeks, but it sure hasn't moved at all.
Things started looking more bizarre when the wind failed to move the storm. It just kept hammering New England, growing south along the coastline from Maine all the way down to where I lived in Nassau County, just outside of New York City. The weather forecasts changed every few minutes, as forecasters revised their estimates, going from saying that there would be light flurries, to saying that there would be a few inches of snow, to saying that there would be an absolute blizzard across the city, and that everyone should stay inside.
My wife, Sarah, couldn't heed that warning, though. She had to go to work, and I had to stay home and take care of our five year old daughter, Tanya. When my wife walked outside that morning, I promised her that I would keep Tanya safe. Watching Sarah pull out of the driveway in her Nissan Altima, I had no idea that would be the last time I would ever see her.
As the day wore on, the weather took a turn for the worse. It looked like the weather forecasters were right, predicting one of the worst storms New York had seen in over a century. It amazed me when the power stayed on late into the night, but I wasn't complaining. You never know exactly how bad a blackout really is until you go through one with a five year old who's still terrified of the dark.
Not that I can say I'm not scared of the dark anymore, myself.
The last time we saw the cheerful, smiling forecasters on the Weather Channel, they were saying that the storm had expanded south into New Jersey, and that we could receive two feet of snow during the night. It was at about 6:23 P.M., I think. Less than a minute later, the Weather Channel cut off, and every program on the television changed to a warning, telling everyone to get out of New York City along whatever bridge they could take and avoid Manhattan Island.
I tried to reach the company where Sarah worked on my phone, but the lines were down. I didn't really know what was going on, but I decided to listen to the reporters on my TV, and get Tanya out of the city. I struggled with the idea that I shouldn't just desert Sarah, who worked on Manhattan, but when I got outside, I realized that I couldn't possibly risk going there.
To the south, across the horizon, the dark clouds of night were painted red with flames.
The traffic was horrible, but not as bad you might think. A lot of people were reluctant to leave. They all seemed to be in shock. I drove my Cadillac along the roads through Nassau and Queens, seeing a lot of people standing by the roadside watching the shadow of the flames flickering against the sky, but running into far fewer actually driving along the road. Some of the people were slowly making their way by foot out of the city, and as time went on, the traffic congestion got a bit worse, but amazingly I was able to get myself and Tanya out of New York before it became so bad that I couldn't drive at all.
I still remember looking across the harbor on the road from Queens to the mainland, and seeing Manhattan Island burning. I don't think that I'll ever forget that. Tanya kept staring out the window, speechless, and tired, too, I believe. I don't know for certain what time it happened to be, but I think it was past eleven.
All night, I drove through the countryside, trying to pick up a radio station that could tell me what was going on. There was nothing anywhere, though, except news of the mandatory evacuation of New York. It seemed odd to me that I had seen very few police officers and no military officials anywhere. Now, looking back, I think they were probably all either elsewhere, or dead.
The next day, things were worse. The weather started getting warmer, and the snow turned to rain. Piles of snow by the roadside were melting, and the blacktop was covered with water and mud. The clouds kept getting darker as the day went on, and as we ran into more and more traffic, coming from places all along coastal New England. The radio evacuation order was going out then to everyone from Massachusetts south to New Jersey.
By the time that night fell, it was pretty hard to tell night from day. Tanya started asking me wh

Open Question: I need to replace my TV/Weather/AMFM Radio soon, any help?
I currently own the following radio:
http://www.amazon.com/Sony-ICF-M410V-Portable-Weather-Radio/dp/B00006HOLO
As of February 17, the TV channel function will become useless due to the switch to digital. I'm looking for a replacement so I may be able to listen to TV when I am otherwise unable to watch.
I am also open to having a similar radio with HD radio functions, but this is not a requirement.
I would prefer NOT to get a portable TV.
I've already done a lot of research on this, and I just can't seem to find anything, and I'm asking here because I'm out of ideas.

Open Question: 1993 Jeep Wrangler won't even turn over in cold weather.?
I have a 1993 Jeep Wrangler that will not start in cold weather. What happens is this:
1) I put the key in and give it a turn
2) I hear a single click from under the hood
3) At the same time, everything electrically based in the vehicle starts working (fans, radio, etc)
4) But the engine does not start
This only happens when temperatures are below freezing. I have tried checking the connections in between my battery and starter, and they do not seem to have any issues (no frozen moisture or such). The starter was replaced less than a year ago, and I have not had any issues with starting since until recently. Any help would be much appreciated.
In response to Bob: the replacement starter I put in was a brand new one.
I should add that I have tried both charging the battery for several hours as well as jumping the vehicle.

Resolved Question: Opinions on my story?
I am witing a story for school. Can you please give an opinion on what I have so far? (I am in 9th grade so it isn't the best story in the world but it is ok I think)
Title: Meeting My Brother, Mark
It was all over every news station when they found him. No matter where I went I heard the name ?Mark Shatford? coming from every television and radio on the street. This boy named Mark Shatford was my brother who was kidnapped 5 years ago and had just been found in an old apartment in New York City. Mark had disappeared when my family was in Pittsburgh visiting our grandparents for Christmas and to celebrate my grandfathers birthday. Mark loved snow and often declared that it was his favorite weather since we lived in Florida and only saw snow around Christmas time. On January 2nd, Pappy?s birthday, he went outside to play in the fresh snow in the front lawn. He was outside for an hour and my mother decided that it was too cold for him out there. She stepped outside to get him and was in a panic when she heard no reply to her frantic calls. She rushed into the house and dialed the police to report her missing child. At the time I was totally unaware of what was going on but I knew something was wrong. Everyone was grabbing their coats and rushing outside shouting. I grabbed my coat and my boots, but as I was running out the door with the rest of my fear stricken family my mother grabbed my arm and pulled me back inside.
?Stay in here!? she said as she placed me on the couch. ?Do not go outside. We do not need to lose anyone else today,? mother told me as tears came out of her clouded eyes and rolled down to her quivering lips.
This is just the start of the story. I am not even close to done.

Resolved Question: Is my car battery frozen/unrepairable?
I tried to start my car today for the first time in about three weeks. The weather has been around -5 degrees Fahrenheit for the past couple weeks. From what I could find on the internet, it appears that my battery is frozen. The battery itself is about 7 years old. The weird thing is that my power locks, interior lights, radio and lights work. Is it possible to have a frozen battery and still have some things in the car get power? Thanks, all advice is appreciated.

Open Question: Your New Year Classics - Rate 1 to 10?
My wife sat down on the couch next to me as I was flipping channels. She asked, 'What's on TV?'
I said, 'Dust.'
And then the fight started...
My wife was hinting about what she wanted for our upcoming anniversary. She said, 'I want something shiny that goes from 0 to 150 in about 3 seconds.'
I bought her a scale.
And then the fight started...
When I got home last night, my wife demanded that I take her someplace expensive... so, I took her to a gas station..
And then the fight started...
After retiring, I went to the Social Security office to apply for Social Security. The woman behind the counter asked me for my driver's license to verify my age. I looked in my pockets and realized I had left my wallet at home. I told the woman that I was very sorry, but I would have to go home and come back later.
The woman said, 'Unbutton your shirt'. So I opened my shirt revealing my curly silver hair. She said, 'That silver hair on your chest is proof enough for me' and she processed my Social Security application.
When I got home, I excitedly told my wife about my experience at the Social Security office.
She said, 'You should have dropped your pants. You might have gotten disability, too.'
And then the fight started...
My wife and I were sitting at a table at my high school reunion, and I kept staring at a drunken lady swigging her drink as she sat alone at a nearby table.
My wife asked, 'Do you know her?'
'Yes,' I sighed, 'She's my old girlfriend. I understand she took to drinking right after we split up those many years ago, and I hear she hasn't been sober since.'
'My God!' says my wife, 'who would think a person could go on celebrating that long?'
And then the fight started...
I took my wife to a restaurant. The waiter, for some reason, took my order first.
"I'll have the strip steak, medium rare, please."
He said, "Aren't you worried about the mad cow?""
Nah, she can order for herself."
And then the fight started...
A woman is standing nude, looking in the bedroom mirror. She is not happy with what she sees and says to her husband, 'I feel horrible; I look old, fat and ugly. I really need you to pay me a compliment.'
The husband replies, 'Your eyesight's damn near perfect.'
And then the fight started.....
I tried to talk my wife into buying a case of Miller Light for $14.95.
Instead, she bought a jar of cold cream for $7.95.
I told her the beer would make her look better at night than the cold cream.
And then the fight started....
My wife asked me if a certain dress made her butt look big. I told her not as much as the dress she wore yesterday
and then the fight started.....
A man and a woman were asleep like two innocent babies. Suddenly, at 3 o'clock in the morning, a loud noise came from outside.
The woman, bewildered, jumped up from the bed and yelled at the man 'Holy crap. That must be my husband!' So the man jumped out of the bed; scared and naked jumped out the window. He smashed himself on the ground, ran through a thorn
bush and to his car as fast as he could go.
A few minutes later he returned and went up to the bedroom and screamed at the woman, 'I AM your husband!'
The woman yelled back, 'Yeah, then why were you running?'
And then the fight started.....
Saturday morning I got up early, quietly dressed, made my lunch, grabbed the dog, and slipped quietly into the garage. I hooked up the boat up to the truck, and proceeded to back out into a torrential downpour.
The wind was blowing 50 mph, so I pulled back into the garage, turned on the radio, and discovered that the weather would be bad all day.
I went back into the house, quietly undressed, and slipped back into bed.
I cuddled up to my wife's back, now with a different anticipation, and whispered, 'The weather out there is terrible.'
My loving wife of 10 years replied, 'Can you believe my stupid husband is out fishing in that?'
And then the fight started ...
I asked my wife, "Where do you want to go for our anniversary?" It warmed my heart to see her face melt in sweet appreciation. "Somewhere I haven't been in a long time!" she said.
So I suggested, "How about the kitchen?"
And that's when the fight started....
