Task Force 77
Task Force 77 All types of aircraft are seen in this film - F-4 Phantom , A3j/A-5 Vigilante (NAGPAW), Grumman G-128 (A-6 Intruder and EA-6B Prowler), Grumman E-2 Hawkeye, Vought A-7A Corsair II, Douglas EKA-3B Skywarrior Whale and the SH-3 Sea King Big Mother. We get to follow the aircrews from briefing to cat shot and back on the ship. While the movie gives you an excellent understanding of the air operations it also shows you the daily operations of the task force. The movie contains footage of aircraft carriers USS Kitty Hawk (CVA-63), USS Ticonderoga (CVA-14), and USS. Ranger (CVA-61) During the movie we get to meet Vice Admiral Ralph W. Cousins and his crew. We see crews loading and handling ordinance. Some crew members are identified. The film shows how deck crew members must work together to avoid getting killed. Commander Malcom Guess is a Squadron Executive Officer that is interviewed. We also watch crews preflight aircraft; work on the flight deck and get a great overview of routine carrier flight deck operations Some of the squadrons identified in this movie include VA-105, VAQ-131, VF-114, VF-213 and VA-112. One of the interviewed pilots states, You never get accustom to a cat shot. Its like getting kicked in the chest with a Mack truck. Nice quote. We get to meet the commander of one of the groups destroyers, the USS Black (DD-666) and we see the USS Porterfield (DD-682). We see the SH-3 Sea King in its various rolls. It is even show refueling from one of the ships while flying. It lands on the USS Stanley (DD-478). A Russian trawler makes an intelligence visit and snoops around the carriers while they play with the trawler. You also get to meet the BARCAP air controller the Teddy Bear of the Tonkin Gulf. Towards the end of the film a sailor is blown from the deck of the aircraft carrier by jet exhaust. He is rescued and we see him getting off the helicopter.

Resolved Question: Who else thinks that the Yankees are on their way to buying themselves yet another championship?
I have a lot of respect for the Yankees and their history, but in this time of inflated salaries, they embody all that is wrong with Major League Baseball's refusal to instill a salary cap on it's teams. The Yankees have bid ridiculous sums of money for Mark Teixiera and C.C. Sabathia, and added them to a team that is already star-studded. If these players play to their potential, the Yanks should be almost unbeatable next year. No other team can compete. Event the Red Sox, who are the second richest team in baseball, were left with their heads hanging and their mouths open. They couldn't outbid the Yankees for either player, much less both. Sure, we still have good stories like the Rockies and Rays most years, but if you look at the teams who are consistently on top, they are mostly those with the highest payrolls i.e. the Yanks, the Sox, and the Angels. Baseball needs to follow the example of the other major sports and put a limit on the amount of money a team can spend. It's only fair. (more...)

Okay, well I'm a huge baseball fan and I really know a lot about the game. But there's one aspect that I've never really understood about baseball. Where do teams get their money from and how are their payrolls determined? I know that the players are payed mostly from ticket money, but lets say the Yankees signed these players for a LOT of money but have a lousy attendance that year. How do they pay their players? And is it possible for MLB to limit a team's payroll ::cough cough YANKEES cough::? HOW does a team get its money? Resolved Question: Does anyone else hate MTV?
A multi-billion dollar corporation which controls a huge portion of network television on the air today, including, but not limited to: MTV, BET, VH1, Nickelodeon, and Comedy Central. Viacom's influence on the ideals of Americans ranging in age from 6 to mid-20s is enormous. Viacom is methodically eliminating independent media organizations in an effort to monopolize American media. Viacom is a "special interest group" to US presidents, meaning Viacom essentially bribes government officials to turn the other way as it takes hold on more and more media. Man, I wonder what would be on if Viacom weren't around. Oh well. Guess I'll go watch TRL. What MTV sold out to. Now, by doing so, all the music it shows are pure shit. Viacom is a dirty company that should be put to death. A company responsible for one of the scariest TV logos in history, the Purple V of Doom! Omigod! RUN!! It's the V of Doom!!!! The shit company that copyrights all my favorite tv shows, like Doug, and Eureka's Castle, so nobody can watch them on YouTube when they get cancelled, and have to pirate them illegally. Viacom is stupid and eats shit. an evil corporation that owns paramount comedy central and other stuff viacom owns too many media things A corporation that controls MTV, Comedy Central, Nickelodeon, CMT, VH1 and many other media sources and is the root of all evil. A church in Iowa claims that all mentionings of Satan in their Bibles and Gospils were changed to read "Viacom" instead of Satan and no, it was not with white out and it looked as is Viacom was actually what was printing in the text. Viacom, after gaining a substantial share of the pop media from other companies, is said to be brainwashing Generation Y (aka Generation MTV) into doing whatever they want them to do. TRL is a prime example of Viacom's workings. Several boycotts have been placed against the corporation and they're the slightest bit of light we have, without these boycotts we would have teenyboppers flooding UD with definitions of emo, Gerard Way and MySpace. Viacom's well-known brands include CBS, MTV, Nickelodeon, Nick at Nite, VH1, BET, Paramount Pictures, Infinity Broadcasting, Viacom Outdoor, UPN, TV Land, Comedy Central, CMT: Country Music Television, King World, Spike TV, Showtime, and Simon & Schuster. Some say they are responsible for the recent decline in music. This may or may not be true. . I'm waiting on the bus to go to school and there's a viacom ad at the bus stop. Then another one on the bus. I say whatever and get on the bus and someone has on the raido. There's an ad for MTV's 'Ther Real World' on. At school, kids are pouring out god awfrl music and pretend to be rock stars/rapers. They all look like Britany Spears, Avril, Jay Z, or whatever Viacom channels tell them is cool. I go home and flip thru CBS, MTV, Nickelodeon, VH1, BET, UPN, TV Land, Comedy Central, Spike TV, Showtime. I settle on Fuse cuz Viacom don't own them. Pretty much the complete and ultimate ruler of the cable world and entertainment business. They own: -BET -Comedy Central -CMT -ifilm -MTV -neopets -Nickelodeon -nick@night -Noggin - The N -Spike tv -TV land -Paramount pictures -DreamWorks AND A BAJILLION MORE THINGS!!! (around 120 more) the people who run viacom are bastards that ruined Mtv too. Damn, what does viacom not own!!!? Resolved Question: What if instead of capping salary, they capped ticket prices?
A resolved question by TheMick7 got me to thinking about pricing your team out of the market and undervaluing. Not that I believe this would happen, but as you know, any sort of salary cap has to be agreed upon by the union. Instead of trying to cap salary, what if there were limits on ticket prices. As a Toronto native, I find it absolutely disgusting that the Maple Leafs sell out, as a 27th place team, for hundreds of dollars per ticket. The Jays, who do put on a semi-entertaining show have the cheapest prices of the 3 major sports in town and they have a hard time selling tickets outside of $2 Tuesdays. What would happen to the larger market teams if their revenue was capped? The only two huge market teams that I've seen prices for are Boston and New York and what I found was top dollar ticket for Boston was in the $350 range and for the Yankees, $400. What would happen to players salaries if the league dictated no ticket price over $75??? (also, feel free to give me other information like top ticket price for the team you see the most) (more...)

Resolved Question: How to get Mussina his 20th win, tonight?
Pull Aceves after the delay (game now resumed), having pitched only 4 innings. He CANNOT get the W. Moose pitched three days ago, but only five innings, 73 pitches. Put him on the mound, limit him to 3 innings or 45 pitches. The Yankees have a lead they probably cannot blow, so Mussina, if he is at all effective, gets the W risk-free -- #20! Hey, why not? They did pull Aceves, but put in Coke. (I foresee great endorsement deals for that young man.) Re/Mussina's arm -- hey, he's a free agent, he's not pitching in October, he wasn't overworked in his last start. There would have been negligible downside to putting in Moose. And you KNOW Torre would have thought of it. It might not have been a proud W for his 20th, but it still would have been his 20th. Precedent: Randy Johnson, 1997. Started & won (#19) on Tues. 23-Sept., game #158. Seattle led AL West by +6.5 games, already clinched division title. Playing for nothing now, virtually locked into #2 seed. Typical rotation, Johnson would have started game #162 on Sun. 28-Sept., game #162, end of season -- but why? Better to save him for the first postseason game on 01-Oct. So, on Sat. 27-Sept., with the Mariners sitting on a 7-2 lead after four, Piniella pulled starter Olivares and put in Unit. He pitched two solid, scoreless innings. Three other relievers pitched the last three innings. Voila! Johnson gets a brief tuneup and the W, his 20th, thanks to the official scorer assigning him as the most effective reliever, and Piniella being smart about it. Resolved Question: Are baseball players paid to much money?
I know he is the greatest player in baseball, but i think arod is paid way to much. One player cant get a team to the playoffs. Im not saying its arods fault cause if i could make that much money i would. But Ever since the yankees got him they havnt been a world series contender. They have been beaten everytime and arnt going to make the playoffs. Instead of paying all that money to one player they can get several players who are good and make a winning team.
