Resolved Question: can you give a dog pain meds?
my sister hit her dog with a truck accidental a few days ago. now she isn't walking and her hip is out of place.
she can't afford to take her to the vet, not that there is one open now. and there are no free clinics or any SPCA so don't suggest it.
what can we do? and it's not my dog so don't yell at me. what can we give her for pain until she can get to the vet?
i've tried telling her that!
she won't listen so i am trying to do what i can for her
we only have 2 vets within an hour of us, and they are only open monday through friday from 8 to 5
my dog was brought in within 12 hours for a cough

Open Question: moving from a storage shed?
Ok, so here's my situation...I'm hoping some of you can help shed some light or give advice if you can.
My husband is about to leave for RTC. Our lease is up and I have to move by the end of January. I can just stay with my family, but then I'll have to store everything in a storage unit. That's fine except...DH may not get to come home after basic to help with the move...before his school starts in monterey. (DLI). We have a U'haul's worth of furniture and such, a truck, and a car.
1. Will the navy move my stuff from a storage unit? I mean..it will all be packed, so even if they would, they wouldn't be able to iventory what they took or be held responsible for any of it--- correct?
2. Worst case scenario: I have to do a full DITY..drive the U-haul myself while pulling one vehicle from florida to california, then fly back to Florida and drive the second vehicle out to Cali....any other options you can think of? Will I get per diem for both trips..or just the maximum allowed travel days for the distance between here and there.
3.With a partial or full DITY will I get reimbursed for the dolly to haul a car with, the pounds from the car itself (being towed), the pounds in the car(again, the one being towed), all, or none?
My goal isn't neccessarily to make money, not that I wouldn't mind it, but really we just can't afford to loose money in the deal. Thanks for any advice you have...I know it's a lot..... any similar experiences?
Nope, unfortunately there's no possible way to get an extension.

Resolved Question: I feel helpless and scared of what i may do to myself?
I'm 25 years old and live in Detroit. I was a truck driver for 2 years and saved up enough money to buy a fixer upper house in a nice neighborhood with cash. This was my only option if I was to ever buy a house, I could never get a loan from a lender, because I never had a job that payed a decent wage .$10,000 is all I would have to come up with to finish it. I was making great money while driving $1,000 a week with no bills except my phone and survival costs while on the road. I thought I'd stay working long enough to finish the house, but because of the economic crisis the trucking companies were looking for ways to off drivers and I was fired on a technicality. This was just after I had purchased the house a week before. I had no idea how bad the economy had gotten since I had left, and now I cant get a trucking job to save my life or even a minimum wage job. Iv been out of work for 3 months and there simply are no unskilled labor or trucking jobs in Michigan now. I have taxes due phone bills due I cant afford to put gas in my car. I am eating once a day because of my depression. I may soon lose the one thing I never thought could be possible to have "my house". And it's really getting me down I feel like there is no hope. I will lose the house that I had worked 2 years for. I feel like I'm destined to be a loser living in a rented room in Detroit with no car and no decent life. No matter how hard I try something always seems to destroy me. I'm a nice person who loves everyone. I do not wish hatred on my worst enemy. I don't think I can live this life anymore as a loser disappointing and draining my family and friends of hope. please give me some kind words to keep me going I want hope to keep me alive.

Open Question: Older car with less miles, or newer car with more?
I am looking into buying a used truck. The two i am deciding between are a 1999 GMC Sierra with 90,000 miles, or a 2002 GMC Sierra with 130,000 miles. They are both in good condition and are running well. The 1999 has a short bed, which i like a lot better than the 2002's long bed, but i am wondering if it is worth the age, or if the miles balance it out. The 1999 is $1000 cheaper than the 2002, but i can easily afford either.
I don't need suggestions to look at other cars, because these two are being offered cheap by a friend of mine.
Thanks in advance for your answers!
I realize condition is important, but they have both been inspected and are fairly equal as far as condition. I am just wondering if miles are more important, or age.
And i forgot to mention: Most of these miles are city, as they were both used in Houston for daily driving.

Open Question: Fix it ticket broken front glass.?
Can I just go to the DVM and put my truck on non operational and have the sheriff sing of my ticket? The reason for this is my front glass is custom made cause my truck has been chopped 3" from the roof.
I can't afford a new windshield right now plus it's not my daily driver.

Open Question: How to convince hubby to sell home?
When we bought our brand new home in 2007 we had always planned on selling in the future. He is only 24 and I only 21 so we are both very proud of the house we created together. I also have two horses and having moved into town it has become a burden to board the horses away from where we live. Now i have been with horses since i was six and selling is not an option right now. We can afford them but it is a hassle having someone else look after my horses. In my opinion I am the only one who can look after them correctly and having to let someone else do it for me is very hard to swallow :) We were hoping to rent out the house here and move out to the country but unfortunatly there are very very few option in this area. I have found a place for sale while looking for a rental in the country, it is older then our new home but looks in a ok condition and is set up for two-three horses to boot. Plus the asking price is lower then what we paid for the new house and has many more features - two extra bedrooms, a garage (we don't have one) its landscaped (ours is only partial will be finished this summer) 2.78 acres of pasture and sheds and has a huge garden which is one thing i really want. Our mortgage would be lower as well with would be fantastic since we are expecting in may and we would like to continue saving for our big move North in a few years.
This sounds like a fantastic oppurtunity and right up our alley as it is right close to where we live now and his service truck would be able to be indoors . (we would have to inspect this whole place first to make sure it really is what we want). I have mentioned the place to hubby and he of course thought it to bad that we didn't wait to buy. Taking on an extra mortgage would be a little tough right now until his business is stable (he just started in october). Since the house is so new there isn't a lot that needs to be fixed and we already did some upgrades before moving in such as pulling carpet and putting down lamnet, some landscaping in the front ect. The pulled carpet would be included to replace the bedroom in the future.
My biggest concern is hurting hubbies feelings and making him feel like he hasn't provided enough. How can I approch this topic with him? I know he really wants to keep the place and would like to rent it out but i just don't see another mortgage in the future any time soon.
Any ideas?
Firstly i said i didn't want to take on two mortgages, I want to sell the one house we have and buy the other which would be cheaper for a mortgage and would save us more money.
Secondly i am in Canada and in the oil country where the economy is down but not horrible like the states. Prices are down but this area is booming do to oil and the liklyness of finding a place like this for $88 000 again is quite slim.
Rental prices in this area typically run from 500.00 for a room in the city to 1500.00-2000.00 for a house. That is much more then our current mortgage.
