Resolved Question: Role Playing: You're a Political Consultant & Sarah Palin Wants to Hire You. What Do You Do?
Sarah Palin is a caricature, a static one-dimensional character from a parodic country & western song. She's a raving idiot hell bent on alpha posturing at all costs. She's too stupid to be anything but aloof, and too aloof to act in any other way but stupid. Add a "beauty pageant" held at a bar in Wasilla, Alaska, a few terms in the PTA, a push to ban libraries from her small town, a "first dude", a drug-addicted son who ran away to the National Guard, a daughter who got knocked up to get out of the house, a Down Syndrome baby that might not be hers and a trail of dead moose in her wake and you have either a Bob Rivers tune or the life of Sarah Palin.
It's interesting, though not surprising, that Palin refuses to grant interviews with anyone outside of Fox News. Both times she ventured outside the comfortable realm of News Corp., she was tossed underhanded softballs but couldn't get a hit nonetheless. The Charlie Gibson interview was a spectacular failure, though the magnitude of its catastrophic implications paled in comparison to the interview that followed with Katie Couric. Palin proved beyond a shadow of a doubt to be nothing more than an abomination on the human race. No real human being can be so lacking in ethos, pathos and logos and the world was able to see it live or in its infinite replays on youtube.
Recently, he rebuffed Oprah Winfrey's request for an interview, though her show provides a segue to her target demographic of middle-class suburban women 18-49. Palin has given up on giving interviews that air outside of FNC. She knows diverging from this tactic can only lead the electorate to get a better gauge on her. This, in turn, can only act as a detriment to her delusional aspirations. The once "Most popular governor in America" now has approval ratings barely over 50% and rapidly decreasing. In the United States overall, 75% find her to be incompetent and not fit for higher office. This came after the "I can see Russia from my house" bit.
Nevertheless, Palin does have money to throw around. So here is the question: If you were a political consultant, would you take Sarah Palin on as a client. If so, what would be your strategy to overcome the grave obstacles she faces in terms of her public perception and which tactics would you employ to undertake? Do this loathsome cretin stand any chance of ever again being of any sort of relevance in the American political stage? If you say yes, be ready to defend your point with facts. Any reasonable person of even mediocre intelligence will tell you she is a dead fish floating in a barrel.
JB- Your answer was thoughtful and thought-provoking. I agree that your prescription is a long shot. She has done more than enough to damage her image beyond the point of no return and she simply lacks what it takes to rebuild. I also agree that she should lay low and reboot, but her handlers are too greedy and she too foolishly intoxicated by her own press.
ananadyne- Overall, you are absolutely correct. Republicans don't want her and will distance themselves from her. I was mere positing this question for fun, though.
Uhlan- If God is as merciful as they say, He will heed your prayer and grant the American people such a blessing.
badmotherrucker- Palin is now a joke. However, she was quite scary when threatening to take the national stage and curse us all to oblivion. I agree with you 100%
The Rest- Try addressing the question next time. Your Limbaugh-infused raves are what cost the GOP the election. This blind stupidity has lead America to the dire circumstances we face today.

Voting Question: help!!! should i just leave him now ?
okay so im about 4 months pregnant and my child father i still married to his ex. We have been together about a year and this pregnancy was definitely not planned but hey it happens.I should probably add that he lied about already being divorced for while. He doesn't seem to care that he isn't divorced and told me today that he doubt he will be by the time my child is born. So here in the last couple of weeks he has really been pulling away and acting like a selfish asshole which is really out of character for him. he acts like he doesn't want to see me half the time and it just seems like he is hiding something, he just isn't open like he used to be. then a few days ago he tells me that he wants to move about from southern usa up to alaska, has even ut in job applications. and i told him i wasn't moving up there with a newborn, i needed my family support. so he told me that i could move up there whenever i was ready. and i told him i wasn't moving anywhere until the baby was walking. and he just acts like he doest care . i just don't know what to do. is he maybe just stressed with the holidays or is there something else going on? what should i do leave him wait awhile and see if he gets better?
I hsould probably add that they have been seperated for about 2 years and she lives in kentucky about 3 states away

Resolved Question: How are US import tariffs calculated on goods imported from an insular possession of the United States? ?
I understand that Puerto Rico is part of the customs territory of the United States, but the other four pre-existing major insular areas (unincorporated territories) of Guam, Am. Samoa, Northern Mariana Islands, and US Virgin Islands are not.
So I am wondering how US import tariffs are calculated on goods imported from these four insular areas to the continental USA (plus Alaska and Hawaii).
I have heard that there are limits on "foreign content," and some other specifications. All of the details are no doubt specified in the Harmonized Tariff Schedule of the US (HTSUS), and so I am looking for someone with expert knowledge in that area.
Laws regarding US Insular areas (or "insular possessions") are listed in 48 USC. These areas are under the sovereignty of the USA.

Resolved Question: I want to attend college in Alaska but I doubt I would be able go home for the holidays which is a problem...?
What do you think I should do?
I could go to college in Washington state or michigan but I'd much rather go up north to Alaska.
I live in Colorado
It costs around $1,000 per person for a plane ticket.
I also would not be able to visit a college in Alaska because the ticket costs to much too do it. I have never been to Alaska but I come from a town (Boulder) with a real tree hugger culture which is what draws me to the 49th state.
University of Alaska at Anchorage
or
University of Alaska southeast
I still have 2.5 years until I get out of high school, and 1.5 years until it's time to start applying.
Thanks

Resolved Question: It's absolutely amazing how a woman can excite so much and galvanize the whole country to love (or hate) her?
to the extend that she is the hottest news items, talk show content and main topics of most conversation at every corners of America every day since parachuting in to be John McCain's running mate. There is no doubt, she is a woman like no other! Very pretty, talented, humorous, polite (the way she talked with the Canadian prankster actually revealed her wholesome and non-condescending character); good mum to her kids and loving wife to her husband, and of course, the popular governor of Alaska. So what? So are countless of women, including governors or mayors themselves, who are as pretty and talented but still fail to matter like she does. Palin! Palin! Palin! Sarah Palin is not qualified to be vice-president; Sarah Palin falters during interviews; Sarah Palin fired-up the Reoublican convention; Sarah Palin's troopergate; Sarah Palin attacked Obama; Governor Palin a diva for spending US150,000 on her wardrobe! Gorvernor Palin for president in 2012. Sarah Palin a drag on McCain's campaign. Sarah Palin a boost for GOP ticket. The media seems beside themselves with excitement and churn out daily, no, hourly staple of juicy gossips, jokes, innuendos and admiration about the hockey mum for their audience to lap up.They never had so good, and the rating are skyrocketing. She could be so inspiring despite her loss in the election. Had she and McCain won and had to assume the presidency later, she could be the next best thing that could ever happen to America! She could be a powerful commander-in-chief who never hesitates to use the technology and fire-power that only the world's-only superpower possesses to crush all enemies and undo all the damage and restore the name of USA as the most respected, loved and, last but not least, feared nation by the whole world. Don't you think the American voters are already regretting that they bought the "snake oil" about Sarah Palin from the partial media?

Resolved Question: what do i do about this? he has a gf...but likes me...and i like him?
k so i have known him and liked him since 7th grade. it's mutual. we have a special relationship. we did date, but not for long and that was in 7th grade loll. but we almost dated again the next summer. we liked each other A LOT. we have the same friends so we tend to hang out somewhat a lot. We did fool around, and one time i stayed the night at his house because well, long story but i had to. and we slept together. no really, like slept. we didn't do anything besides kiss/make out. and he sneaked a picture of me on his phone in the morning lol. and i gave him a sticker and he kept it on his wall. :) this was just this summer.
so,, at the beginning of this year, 10th grade, he ended up sitting behind me in 5th period. he would stroke my back, whisper in my ear, we'd write notes, even the teacher knows we flirted all the time.
then, all of a sudden he is dating someone. wtf. so now he has a gf but he still likes me and i still like him. and we still have a pact to go to alaska when we graduate. like, we HAVE to. we promised each other.
and now, he wants to hang out with me tonight. i have always liked him, always will. but he has a gf. i know its so wrong but i want to so bad.!! my horoscope says to not turn a special event down tonight and to just go for it even if i may have doubts! but i don't know if i can do that.
please just help me rationalize and make the good, right decision. i dont know if i can help myself but to just go hang with him! like, im not even caring really about the after-affects it may have on myself and others, including his gf. i dont want to be a bitch and do that to her. i would never want anyone to do that to me. wtf. im so stupid. but oh jeez i dont think you know how badly i want/like him. and he is one of the sexiest guys i have ever met. honest to god. ohh man.

Resolved Question: Are the people of Alaska really going to re-elect a convicted felon?
I was giving Alaska the benefit of a doubt, hoping that Palin is a bit more knowledgeable on state issues than national ones. But if they elect a felon, it will confirm my belief that Alaska is filled with idiots.
Stevens was basically convicted of taking bribes from a special interest group hoping that he would propose and pass policies that would help their interests.
A politician who buys drugs and whores is not being unfairly swayed to support one special interest group over another. There is not a single case of a politician caught buying drugs who had been pushing legislation to legalize drugs.
I understand that people may have wanted to keep the seat Republican, but what about voting out the convicted FELON? The people of Alaska have confirmed that they are more about partisanship than doing the right thing.
It affects me because Stevens has been sending OUR tax dollars disproportionally to Alaska and I am sick of it. Why should the people of Alaska get a $3,000 check from the government just for living there?

Resolved Question: I am NOT a McCain supporter. But just how could they say Obama won just because he got 270 electoral votes wh?
from what I have heard, Obama won because he was the first to get 270 electoral votes. But how can they say that this means he won without counting all of the states? For example, the polls in Alaska were said to be opened until 1 a.m p.s.t., or 4 a.m. eastern time. But the race was called at approximately 12 a.m. e.s.t., meaning that anyone who had yet to vote at that time, it just didn't count for them. Likewise, although I SERIOUSLY doubt this, but in fairness, HAD all of the states been counted McCain may have in fact had more electoral votes than Obama. So does this count for anything? Because shouldn't everyone's vote count, instead of them just saying the first one to get to 270 electoral votes?
lol, guess you all are smarter than I thought...

Voting Question: 11/3/2008.Survey:Sarah Palin has excellent qualifications for VP/President. Agree or disgree?
There is no doubt that Sarah Palin has qualifications to be a great Vice President and President, if need be. In fact, coming from a actual Vice President, Vice President of the United States, Dick Cheney, says: "Im pleased" that John McCain "has chosen a running mate with executive talent, toughness, and common sense:our next Vice President, Governor Sarah Palin.(Applause.). See http://www.whitehouse.gov/news/releases/2008/11/20081101-1.html . Accordingly, CNN's Drew Griffen said to Sarah Palin (in an interview): "you are the only person in this race with executive experience, who's taken over governments as mayor and governor." See http://www.cnn.com/2008/POLITICS/10/21/palin.sitroom.transcript/ . And Fox News' Greta Van Susteren said to Sarah Palin (in an interview): "I've been up in Alaska, went up and met a lot of your friends, a lot of people you worked with. And it's a beautiful state. You have a very high approval rating up there." See http://www.foxnews.com/story/0,2933,434944,00.html .
