Resolved Question: Will the Republicans steal the election for McCain?
There are reports throughout the South of vote-flipping machines flipping Obama votes to McCain. In Colorado 60% of the voting is by opostal-voting which is more susceptible to fraud, and the former Secretary of State Donetta Davis threw 20% of the voters off the voting roll - her successor is still a Republican. Also, African-Americans in Virginia are being sent threatening mail warning of arrest if they turn out to vote. The Macombe County Republican party leader warned the party would block foreclosed people from voting. Is this election going to be stolen by the Republican party in a Mugabe-style way? Donetta Davidson I mean. By Claire Osborn AMERICAN-STATESMAN STAFF Thursday, October 23, 2008 A widely circulated Internet message telling people to vote straight party and to vote again for their choice for president needs to be ignored, Travis County Clerk Dana DeBeauvoir said. Their vote for president won't count if they do that in Travis County, she said Wednesday....On Monday, a man was telling voters at a Randalls grocery store at 2025 W. Ben White Blvd. to do the double voting, DeBeauvoir said. After an election official confronted the man, he fled in a Chevrolet Impala covered with stickers for GOP candidate Sen. John McCain and the Republican Party, she said." (more...)

Voting Question: McCain adviser says Palin takes advice from nobody and has no trust relatonship with family & Campaign" True?
ALBUQUERQUE, New Mexico (CNN) -- With 10 days until Election Day, long-brewing tensions between GOP vice presidential candidate Gov. Sarah Palin and key aides to Sen. John McCain have become so intense, they are spilling out in public, sources say. Several McCain advisers have suggested to CNN that they have become increasingly frustrated with what one aide described as Palin "going rogue." A Palin associate, however, said the candidate is simply trying to "bust free" of what she believes was a damaging and mismanaged roll-out. McCain sources say Palin has gone off-message several times, and they privately wonder whether the incidents were deliberate. They cited an instance in which she labeled robocalls -- recorded messages often used to attack a candidate's opponent -- "irritating" even as the campaign defended their use. Also, they pointed to her telling reporters she disagreed with the campaign's decision to pull out of Michigan. A second McCain source says she appears to be looking out for herself more than the McCain campaign. "She is a diva. She takes no advice from anyone," said this McCain adviser. "She does not have any relationships of trust with any of us, her family or anyone else. "Also, she is playing for her own future and sees herself as the next leader of the party. Remember: Divas trust only unto themselves, as they see themselves as the beginning and end of all wisdom." A Palin associate defended her, saying that she is "not good at process questions" and that her comments on Michigan and the robocalls were answers to process questions. But this Palin source acknowledged that Palin is trying to take more control of her message, pointing to last week's impromptu news conference on a Colorado tarmac. Tracey Schmitt, Palin's press secretary, was urgently called over after Palin wandered over to the press and started talking. Schmitt tried several times to end the unscheduled session. "We acknowledge that perhaps she should have been out there doing more," a different Palin adviser recently said, arguing that "it's not fair to judge her off one or two sound bites" from the network interviews. The Politico reported Saturday on Palin's frustration, specifically with McCain advisers Nicolle Wallace and Steve Schmidt. They helped decide to limit Palin's initial press contact to high-profile interviews with Charlie Gibson of ABC and Katie Couric of CBS, which all McCain sources admit were highly damaging. In response, Wallace e-mailed CNN the same quote she gave the Politico: "If people want to throw me under the bus, my personal belief is that the most honorable thing to do is to lie there." But two sources, one Palin associate and one McCain adviser, defended the decision to keep her press interaction limited after she was picked, both saying flatly that she was not ready and that the missteps could have been a lot worse. They insisted that she needed time to be briefed on national and international issues and on McCain's record. "Her lack of fundamental understanding of some key issues was dramatic," said another McCain source with direct knowledge of the process to prepare Palin after she was picked. The source said it was probably the "hardest" to get her "up to speed than any candidate in history." Schmitt came to the back of the plane Saturday to deliver a statement to traveling reporters: "Unnamed sources with their own agenda will say what they want, but from Gov. Palin down, we have one agenda, and that's to win on Election Day." Yet another senior McCain adviser lamented the public recriminations. "This is what happens with a campaign that's behind; it brings out the worst in people, finger-pointing and scapegoating," this senior adviser said. This adviser also decried the double standard, noting that Democratic nominee Sen. Barack Obama's running mate, Sen. Joe Biden, has gone off the reservation as well, most recently by telling donors at a fundraiser that America's enemies will try to "test" Obama. Tensions like those within the McCain-Palin campaign are not unusual; vice presidential candidates also have a history of butting heads with the top of the ticket. John Edwards and his inner circle repeatedly questioned Sen. John Kerry's strategy in 2004, and Kerry loyalists repeatedly aired in public their view that Edwards would not play the traditional attack dog role with relish because he wanted to protect his future political interests. Even in a winning campaign like Bill Clinton's, some of Al Gore's aides in 1992 and again in 1996 questioned how Gore was being scheduled for campaign events. Jack Kemp's aides distrusted the Bob Dole camp and vice versa, and Dan Quayle loyalists had a list of gripes remarkably similar to those now being aired by Gov. Palin's aides. With the presidential race in its final days and polls suggesting that McCain's chances of pulling out a win are growing slim, Palin may be looking after her own future. "She's no longer p (more...)

Resolved Question: Has the election been stolen already?
According to an investigative report out today in Rolling Stone magazine reveal a systematic program of "GOP vote tampering" on a massive scale. - Republican Secretaries of State of swing-state Colorado have quietly purged one in six names from their voter rolls. Over several months, the GOP politicos in Colorado stonewalled every attempt by Rolling Stone to get an answer to the massive purge - ten times the average state's rate of removal. - While Obama dreams of riding to the White House on a wave of new voters, more then 2.7 million have had their registrations REJECTED under new procedures signed into law by George Bush. Kennedy, a voting rights lawyer, charges this is a resurgence of 'Jim Crow' tactics to wrongly block Black and Hispanic voters. - A fired US prosecutor levels new charges - accusing leaders of his own party, Republicans, with criminal acts in an attempt to block legal voters as "fraudulent." - Digging through government records it was discovered that in 2004 a GOP scheme called "caging" ultimately took away the rights of 1.1 million voters. The Rolling Stone duo predict that, this November 4, it will be far worse. (more...)

Resolved Question: Are you impressed by Obama's bi-partisan coalition?
Obama's support from the right has been growing at a shocking rate lately. Is this a testament to Obama's ability to reach across the aisle and build truly bi-partisan coalitions? Things to consider: --Recently, Obama has added several high profile Republicans to his list of supporters from staunch GOP columnist, Chris Buckley to former Republican Secretary of State, General Colin Powell. --25 newspapers who formerly backed Bush in 2000 and 2004 have switched their allegiance to Obama, including such GOP stalwarts as the Houston Chronicle, Austin American-Statesman and The Chicago Tribune, which has never endorsed a Democrat in its history. --Obama now leads in several traditionally red states, including Virginia, Colorado, Nevada, New Mexico, Missouri and North Carolina, and is within striking distance in deep red states like Georgia and West Virginia. Resolved Question: Republicans trying to steal the election?
Republican Secretaries of State of swing-state Colorado have quietly purged one in six names from their voter rolls. While Obama dreams of riding to the White House on a wave of new voters, more then 2.7 million have had their registrations REJECTED under new procedures signed into law by George Bush. Kennedy, a voting rights lawyer, charges this is a resurgence of 'Jim Crow' tactics to wrongly block Black and Hispanic voters. Over several months, the GOP politicos in Colorado stonewalled every attempt by Rolling Stone to get an answer to the massive purge - ten times the average state's rate of removal. The article will be in the current Rolling Stone magazine. This is sick, I know there are independent voters that will bring cameras to many voting locations in swing states. These independent voters will be posted where there are more African Americans or Latinos to see how many will be turned away by polling officials or police. Good answer by Republicans. I will also be in a swing state with a camera. See you there. None of these were Acorn registrations. Sorry, you can repeat Acorn all you want, but this is worst, this is Voter Fraud, not Registration Fraud. (more...)

Resolved Question: Do these people deserve to be thrown in jail more than ACORN?
1) Sheriff Gene Fischer has requested registration cards and address forms for all Greene County residents who voted in a special session established in Ohio allowing new voters to register and vote on the same day. The process was challenged in court by the GOP. The Ohio Supreme Court turned down that challenge, and allowed the same-day voting to proceed. But now Fischer claims telephone calls complaining about the potential for voter fraud have prompted him to go after the information. http://www.ohio.com/news/ap?articleID=926189&c=y 2) In Franklin County, election protection observers are reporting CONTINUING SURVEILLANCE BY REPUBLICANS at Veterans Memorial, the site for early voting. The observers have documented REPUBLICANS OPERATIVES TaKING PHOTOGRAPHS and WRITING DOWN LICENSE #'s OF VOTERS. http://www.npr.org/blogs/politics/2008/09/license_plates_monitored_at_oh.html 3) The New York Times has reported that boards of elections in at least nine crucial states, including Ohio, have violated federal law in conducting purges and have been illegally using Social Security data bases as part of those purges. The Times has also reported that boards of elections in Nevada, North Carolina, Michigan, Indiana and Ohio have illegally used federal Social Security databases to flag and possibly eliminate voters whose registration applications were suspected of irregularities. The Times reported some 37,000 Colorado voters removed in the three weeks after July 21; Secretary Coffman said the number was 14,000. http://www.nytimes.com/2008/10/09/us/politics/09voting.html?pagewanted=2&_r=2 4) Michigan elections director Christopher Thomas said his state had removed about 11,000 voters in August, while the Times estimated the real number to be closer to 33,000. Thomas refused to make the purged files public. Michigan Secretary of State Terri Lynn Land is a long-standing Republican partisan whose political activism traces back to the mid-70s when she worked for Gerald Ford's campaign in high school. Critics charge that she functions in the traditional of Florida's Katherine Harris and Ohio's J. Kenneth Blackwell. 5) North Carolina's BOE director Gary Bartlett dismissed concerns raised by the Social Security Administration about possible mis-used of SS files to purge registrations there in conjunction with drivers licenses. The SSI contends Social Security numbers can only be accessed when there is no drivers license or other form of state ID available. 6) A US PIRG report has revealed organized caging attempts by the GOP TO ELIMINATE REGISTERED VOTERS FROM THE ROLLS IN 19 states. The report marks one of the first initiated by a corporate news organization isolating Republican anti-vote campaigning. http://www.uspirg.org/newsroom/voting/voting-news/washington-d.c.-nineteen-states-not-enforcing-federal-laws-on-voter-lists =============== Compare to The grassroots organizing group ACORN has come under serious attack in Nevada, Missouri, Ohio and elsewhere from Republicans attempting to negate the thousands of generally low-income citizens ACORN has registered to vote. As a matter of law, ACORN is required to report irregular registrations that come through its process. But GOP operatives have equated these with "fraudulent" filings, and a have ramped up a smear and fear campaign aimed at negating thousands of legitimate ACORN registrants throughout the US. Resolved Question: Does the GOP have a connection with Bill Ayers? What are your thoughts on this information?
Glass Houses ... Throwing Stones? If Obama is guilty by associating with Ayers on the Boards of two non-profits, the Annenberg Foundation and Woods Fund, isn't it relevant to see who else serves on those boards? Take a peek at the Annenberg Foundation members. 1. Walter & Leonore Annenberg - founder who gave Bill Ayers a $49M grant. His widow, Leonore, has endorsed McCain. In fact, just yesterday the McCain Campaign released its list of Ambassadors supporting him. It included, Mrs. Annenberg, a former "chief of protocol" at the State Dep't under the Reagan Administration. A Republican, she also DONATED THE MAX OF $2300 TO McCAIN'S CAMPAIGN IN MAY 2008. According to Opensecrets.com, she has donated to Republican candidates over 100 times in the past few elections cycles. Her campaign contributions have gone to George W Bush, Fred Thompson, Arlen Spector, Rick Santorum, Jon Kyle, Elizabeth Dole, Bob Dole, Richard Shelby, John Warner,David Dreier, Olympia Snowe, Jon Fox and Christine Todd Whitman. Have each of these GOP candidates refunded her money because she's got a "domestic terrorist" on her own Board or because she gave that "domestic terrorist" a $49 million grant before Obama was on the Board? In addition to individual contributions, Mrs. Annenberg also donated regularly to the Republican National Committee, the Republican Senatorial Committee and Republicans for Choice. Other notable members on the Annenberg Board include: 1. David Kearns - former Deputy Secretary of Education under Bush I; former CEO of Xerox; Chairman of NASDC, a Bush I reform initiative for Education; WORKED FOR & DONATED TO McCAIN'S PRESIDENTIAL CAMPAIGN IN 2000 AND AGAIN IN 2008. 2. Arnold Weber - former member of Nixon Administration; former President of Northwestern University and U of Colorado. Board Member of Tribune Company. DONATED TO McCAIN'S CAMPAIGN. Other Board Members include leaders in the Education community including professors, deans, and presidents at some of the country's most prestigous colleges. They include: Dr. Patricia Albjerg Graham, Deborah Leff, Adele Smith Simmons, Vartan Gregorian, Ted Sizer, Warren Chapman and Anne Hallett. Let's take a look at The Woods Fund . . . Do you know that Presbyterian Minister Cynthia Campbell serves on the Board on the Woods Fund?. She got her Masters in Divinity from Harvard and her doctorate from SMU. She is author of A Multitude of Blessings: A Christian Approach to Religious Diversity, as well as a monograph, Theologies Written from Feminist Perspectives. She is also the current President of the McCormick Theological Seminary. Does this sound like a woman who espouses hate and would associate with domestic terrorists? Additionally, today's Wood Fund's eight-member board includes three academics, a civic leader, a former Illinois state senator and executives from the BP oil company, UBS investment bank and Sahara Enterprises. Former board members include R. Eden Martin (1996-2004), attorney for the law firm Sidley Austin and president of the Commercial Club, Chicago's most prestigious business group. Many of these members are Republicans and supporters of McCain. So why is it again the Obama should be chastised for serving on Boards with William Ayers? When the founder of the Annenberg Foundation gave $49 million to Ayers, then put him on her Board, and still to this day contributes thousands to GOP candidates across the country, should each of these GOP members be assailed for taking contributions from someone who associates with a "domestic terrorist" from the 60s?. http://www.dailykos.com/story/2008/10/9/8831/72947 (more...)
