Resolved Question: What about jobs in Denver, CO?
I am graduating from the IL Institute of Art with a BA and did an internship in New York, with W Magazine. My fiance is relocating to Denver, CO for his job and wondering if anyone that lives in Denver could tell me if there are any jobs in event planning, public relations or marketing. I'm having a hard time finding anything related to my degree out there. I am mostly looking to work for a magazine, newspaper...more of a media job, but they seem very scarce in Denver. I'm in Chicago so there are a lot of jobs here but have to make a sacrifice and move with my fiance, hope you can help thanks.

Resolved Question: Are there any healthy print publications in the US ?
I read everyday about this newspaper company or that newspaper company laying off 100's or 1000's... I read where Detroit Newspapers might stop printing all together on certain days (http://www.lansingsportsrage.com) and other cities with two papers where one was just shut down (Denver Post/Rocky Mountain News).
I think I know why newspapers are dying... lack of quality content, lack of exclusive content. People will say "its the Internet", but I think its because daily newspapers all use so much generic AP content, that people just go to the first place they can get the information for free online. If they had exclusive content and didn't make it available for free.. wouldn't they be better off ?
My question is... are there any healthy publications in the US ? Is anyone doing well right now ? Whether its a daily, a weekly or a trade; Is any print publication doing well ??
Sticks.. maybe I missed it. Did you list even one newspaper which was healthy financially and doing well ?

Resolved Question: Why are conservative Newspapers endorsing Omama?
From Huff-Po: The Denver Post, "which had backed George W. Bush in 2004 and is owned by Republican-leaning William Dean Singleton," endorsed Barack Obama for president on Friday. "So did the Chicago Sun-Times, Kansas City Star. Southwest News-Herald (Ill.) and the Atlanta Journal-Constitution. And to top it off: another Bush-backing in 2004, The Salt Lake Tribune."
In E&P's exclusive count, Obama now leads 58-16 in editorial endorsements.
Do you think they may be on to something?

Resolved Question: Why are Newspapers is being paid to insert a DVD about "Islam terror"?
The "Islam terror" scaremongering DVD Obsession that the Clarion Fund has paid dozens of newspapers across the country -- almost solely in "swing" election states -- to distribute, many of them quite large in cities such as Miami, Philadelphia, Denver and Pittsburgh. (HuffPost was one of the first to be on this.) My posting was updated yesterday when many more papers sent it around. An estimated 28 million copies have been distributed so far, also through the mails and other magazines. An article at the group's site, www.radicalislam.org, endorsed John McCain this past week.
The Oregonian Newspaper, has been paid to insert the DVD's this weekend. This is nothing more than paid propaganda and scare tactics on the part of John McCain's Campaign.

Resolved Question: What was your most memorable encounter with a celebrity?
The question says it all.
My three (I'm a journalist):
1. Living in a small town, I was good friends with Micheal Moore's sister. When he came to town for a visit, he read an editorial I wrote for the newspaper. He then called up a radio station and challenged me to a fist fight. We didn't go through with it.
2. (This one is more my husband's) Back in the late 1970's, Jimmy Carter was giving a speech at a hotel in Denver. I was waiting for my husband outside of the restroom in the lobby, and all of a sudden, tons of guards surrounded the area. Then Carter walked past me and into the restroom. Apparently my husband saw Carter unzip his fly, pee, and walk out without washing his hands! Carter shook my hand as he walked out of the restroom, and asked if it was my husband in the bathroom. I nodded, and he walked off.
3. A few years ago, I interviewed The Captain and Tennille. The Captain has turned into a very grumpy man...
What are your encounters with celebs?

Resolved Question: Thanks for thrashing my clean town you liberal fruits.?
About 200 people from a group called Funk the War noisily staged its own separate march. Wearing black clothes, bandanas and gas masks, some of their members smashed windows of cars and stores. They tipped over newspaper boxes, pulled a big trash bin into the street, bent the rear view mirrors on a bus and flipped heavy stone garbage bins on the sidewalks.
I don't remember Republicans doing this in Denver but i suppose it's to be expected from the party that preaches opposing viewpoints.
You ought to be lynched.

Resolved Question: Why are the liberals protesting the RNC? What do they hope to achieve?
ST. PAUL, Minn. ? On the eve of the Republican National Convention, uncertainty is blowing through the host city at Category 5.
Not only are people wondering how Sen. John McCain and the GOP will have to alter the convention?s messages because of Hurricane Gustav and the painful reminders of 2005?s Hurricane Katrina, but there now are big questions about how the expected street protests will play out.
Local and national media outlets have reported that there have been multiple raids on places where anti-war protesters are gearing up for a massive rally Monday, just before the convention?s opening.
The Hill newspaper, citing the National Lawyer Guild (NLG), reports that the Ramsey County Sheriff?s office, which leads the local law enforcement effort, has raided at least three homes and made several arrests.
Minnesota Public Radio reported that authorities had seized gallons of urine, wrist rockets and kerosene ? just the sort of unconventional weapons that were feared, but never emerged, during the Democratic National Convention in Denver.
Protesters have vowed to go forward with a rally of tens of thousands of people on Monday, when President Bush had been scheduled to speak. (Bush's appearance reportedly is in doubt due to the response to the hurricane.)
The RNC Welcoming Committee, an ?anarchist/anti-authoritarian? group planning to ?crash the convention,? has been giving regular updates on the protests ? including names of those it says have been detained -- through its web site, www.nornc.org,
The group?s web site promotes a whole host of protest activities planned for Sept. 1 to Sept. 4, saying: ?the Republican Party is coming to Minnesota to celebrate their latest conquests in global domination and exploitation. We of the RNC Welcoming Committee want to make sure that this time the fear-mongers will be met with their own biggest fear: people mobilized, organized, and taking the future back into their own hands.?
Similar rhetoric was used by protest planners before the Democratic National Convention in Denver, where there were some high-profile confrontations between demonstrators and police but fewer arrests, conflicts and incidents than in past national party conventions.
Will higher tensions translate into more trouble during the RNC? Stay tuned.
