FernGully 2 - The Magical Rescue
FernGully 2 - The Magical Rescue Life in FernGully, a 1,000-year-old rainforest, is idyllic for the woodland animals and two fairies named Crysta and Pips. Still, Pips longs to see the world beyond the forest. When two human poachers steal three baby animals under Crysta's care, Pips is quick to declare his intention to travel to "town" and rescue the stolen animals. A bat (appropriately named Batty) offers much doom-and-gloom advice against the trip, but eventually Pips and his band of Beetle Boys head to town with Batty in the lead. Crysta soon finds the poacher's abandoned dog and follows her friends to town in the hopes of returning the dog to his home. The group's first glimpses of town show a grimy dump and a sewer pipe dumping refuse into a local body of water. A carnival changes their perspective, offers a chance meeting with a young clown-in-training named Budgie, and distracts the group from their mission. Batty and the youngest Beetle Boy eventually locate the stolen animals, and, with help from the rest of the group, battle the evil poachers to win the animals' freedom. This 73-minute, animated musical is entertaining but somewhat lacking in excitement and drive. The film also lacks Robin Williams, who voiced Batty in the first film. The film's message comes across crystal clear--uncaring humans are destroying the rainforests without regard for the larger consequences of their actions. (Ages 3 to 8) --Tami Horiuchi

Open Question: What Do You Think of my Writing?
I'm pretty bored, so I decided to write some random paragraph that's pretty much something I'd write if I were writing a book. Here it is. :) And please, don't be too harsh, I'm not really that... experienced, for lack of better words. :) Beep. Her hands wrapped around the top of the steering wheel, spinning it to the side in jerky, erratic, movements. Black rivers maternally caressed her cheeks, sliding in uneven paths before dropping into her lap. Beep. Another car horn blared into the otherwise still night. She smashed her lips together in an attempt to block the barricade of sobs that were set on a due course for her lips, but she surrendered limply. Her breaths came in sharp gasps, the cool air scraping against her throat, inflating her lungs, heaving her shoulders in trembling movements. She pressed her burning eyelids together in a futile, vain attempt to rid herself of the memories that, rather then being too painful to recall, were too painful to forget. As her panorama was obscured by a film of darkness, the images exploded into her brain, each new face as if a real firework had been lodged into her mind, set on fire and exploded. A shriek of despair burst through her thin, pale lips, shattering the silence that had blanketed her. But this shriek, much unlike the others, was not due to her horrific, even haunting, past. With a nails-on-chalkboard screech, her tires froze, digging into the pavement as they desperately tried to prevent a fatal crash from occuring. Too late. She could never understand what people were talking about in the movies or the books when they said everything happened in slow motion. How they could see every twitch, every slight jerk of the body, every tiny bead of sweat that dotted a shining foreheard. Everything happened before she could blink. She watched as the hood collided with the trunk of the forest-green car in front of her and crumpled. Glass shattered in every direction, every needle-sharp piece slicing through the air like an arrow, her face the many-ringed target. And then, as quick as it had come, it was gone. She was overcome by a soothing aura and, feeling more at peace then she had in days, let her body fall limp, feeling at first a spreading heatwave, and then nothing at all. How was it? Again, please don't be too harsh, I like to write for fun, and I don't really write that often, so I know for a fact I'm not good. Tips are appreciated. Thanks for reading. :) Thanks so much guys! :) I'll try not to put in too much detail. I tend to spend too much effort on the detail and not enough on the actual plot and action of the story. But anyways, thanks so much for everyone's advice and compliment, I appreciate them a lot. :) (more...)

Open Question: Top five wild animals you'd hate to be?
Name five animals you'd hate to be and 5 you'd like to be and why. My choices in no particular order: Male Lion: Yeah, it's the king of the jungle but their lives are too violent and in certain circumstances can be short by opportunity (that is,, another male or two or more may come to challenge you and you may be a YOUNG lion recently taken over a pride). Plus, they are quite lazy. Walrus: Being packed in a blob of fat without legs and having to waddle here to there is not my idea of being. Cheetah: They got speed but because they have to use speed to catch the food, they often have to wait a long while before actually eating. Also they are so low on the power scale (that is, lions, leopard, etc.), they often have to give up their hard-earned meal because of an approaching lion or leopard or hyena. Turtle - great protection against animals but in the case of forest fire, it's screwed. Snake. Nice to have venom for defense but it is just disgusting to eat eat something so big that you have to wait until it completely digest. Like: Leopard - solitary, can follow the cheetah and take his meal then run up a tree to hide from all. Croc - master of ambush and in a place where I live in the only source of water, it'd be amazing. Tiger - again, solitary, master of ambush and dominant predator of the jungle. Jackal - doesn't matter to big predators, can follow them and wait for leftovers. Elephant - female led but not as bad as Hyenas. With no real predator, the only bad side I see is a drought and looking for enough food. What's yours and why? (more...)

Open Question: what does the pegasus story mean to you?:D?
Our story begins long ago in the ancient land of Greece, where there lived a young man named Bellopheron. Bellopheron was known far and wide for being the handsomest and bravest youth in the entire land, and a great athlete. He was a kind boy who loved to help others and was loved and admired by all. He was a favorite of the King, whose name was Proteus. King Proteus was a good ruler, but too often unsure of himself. In the kingdom was an evil man named Slymius Criticus who, through deceit and flattery, became one of the king's counselors. Slymius was a coward who was forever criticizing others because he excelled at nothing himself. He was deeply jealous of Bellopheron and feared him, as evil always fears goodness. Whatever Bellopheron did, Slymius found fault with it. Slymius even tried to turn the King against Bellopheron, but for once Proteus did not listen to him, for Proteus was fond of Bellopheron and rejoiced in his accomplishments. Slymius grew desperate and devised a wicked plan to be rid of Bellopheron. "My sire," he said to King Proteus, "The monster Chimera is a scourge upon the land, terrorizing your people. Send Bellopheron to kill Chimera. He is brave and strong. He will be able to rid us of this monster." Now, Chimera was a horrible monster that had a lion's body and a lion's head that roared and spat lightning and smoke. Its tail was a horrible serpent that hissed fire, and growing out of its back was the grotesque head of a goat with horns as sharp as razors which brayed a horrible shrieking wail that would deafen any man. No man had yet been strong enough to kill the monster, and many had died trying. Slymius expected that Bellopheron would meet his death as well. The King knew little of such monsters and trusted Slymius. He called upon Bellopheron and asked him to kill Chimera. Bellopheron put on a brave countenance, bowed low to the King, and said, "It shall be done." But Bellopheron was scared. He did not feel that he was so great a hero that he could succeed where so many others had failed. He did not trust his own powers and was fearful that he too would fail. So he went to the temple of the wise goddess Athena to ask for her guidance. Athena's temple was a dark and mysterious place, with cool white marble walls. The heavy incense and gentle sound of rippling water lulled Bellopheron's senses. He fell into a deep sleep and dreamt that the Goddess appeared to him in a halo of radiance so bright that he could barely look at her. "Bellopheron," said the Goddess, "the only way to find Chimera is with the help of the winged horse, Pegasus. The only way to tame Pegasus is with a magic bridle. And the only way to kill Chimera is with a magic sword. Here is the bridle. Here is the sword. Go to the fountain of Pirene, and you will find Pegasus." Bellopheron awoke and thought "What a foolish dream! No man has ever seen a winged horse!" But when he got up, to his amazement he saw lying next to him a golden bridle of marvelous craftsmanship and a golden sword. When he lifted the weapon and waved it in the air, he could almost feel the enchantment within it. He thought then that his dream must have been real, and this gave him courage. So Bellopheron set off on a journey to find the fountain of Pirene, a famed spot in a distant part of the land. The fountain was set in a secluded forest with green trees, luxuriant grass, and beautiful flowers. As he approached, Bellopheron could see the great winged horse, which no mortal had seen before, drinking at the fountain. Bellopheron crept quietly closer, hoping to surprise Pegasus, but Pegasus suddenly looked up from his fountain and trotted over to him. Pegasus let him put the bridle on without a hint of protest. "This bridle is indeed enchanted," thought Bellopheron. The young man jumped on the horse's back and Pegasus leapt in the air like the most graceful of birds and flew higher and higher. The landscape grew smaller and more distant as they flew, until Bellopheron could almost reach up and touch the clouds. Then Pegasus flew past the clouds so that Bellopheron could see the stars twinkling in the cool dark sky. Pegasus swooped and dived, did figure eights of joy, for he loved flying and adored being led by such a kind and brave rider. Birds flew past twittering, and Bellopheron could barely contain his excitement. All of a sudden Bellopheron heard a faint noise behind him and turned his head. Out of the far distance he saw a black speck at the horizon growing larger and larger as it came nearer and nearer towards them, accompanied by what sounded like a thousand beating wings. (The sound grew louder and became deafening as the object grew larger until he could see that it was Chimera.) The lion's head roared and bellowed, the snake's head hissed and spat, and the goat's head brayed. Three monsters in one, Chimera came charging at Bellopheron with all three mouths gaping wide and screaming, bellowing smoke and fire, ready to tear (more...)

Resolved Question: Do you know an old coin-op arcade game about a small wizard (kid) who threw fire with his hands?
I believe it was a japanese game. the little kid or wizard threw fire with his hands to kill the enemies in his way to a casttle. he had to go through a forest, volcano area, an then into a casttle-like stage. I remember that it had a trick to get indefinitly lives in the casttle stage, there was a long ladder you had to climb avoiding the rocks falling from the top. The only way to avoid them was puching the joystick downwards. His weapon (fire) could change when picking up some thing after killing his enemies. I havent been able to remember the name and I never saw it again.. please give me a few ideas. Thanks (more...)
