Resolved Question: Dog ate buffalo chicken bones?
My 1yr old golden retriever ate somewhere between 5-8 bones last night. They were buffalo wing bones, my bf had already ate the chicken off them. He ate them in like 2 minutes after stealing them off our counter. I know splintering can be a problem with some bones. Since these bones are so small and we doubt he even chewed them at all, what do I need to look for. He seems perfectly fine so we havent felt the need to take him to the vet yet. Just curious what to watch for because we dont want any health problems with him. I called my vet, they said the same thing as most of you. Just keep an eye on him. Eat ate mostly just bones and didnt really have time to chew them with how fast he ate them. He seems fine. Hyper, playful, and getting in to trouble as usual. I've been giving him more food and stuff hoping it might help pass them. Thank you for all your help! (more...)

Resolved Question: How can i make my dog eat?!?
I adopted a female golden retriever around 2 days ago. (She got spayed 4 days ago). But since i brought her home she wouldn't eat anything, she looks and acts fine. I am currently trying to give her the same exact food that the rescue center was giving her (they gave me several days worth of their food so i can switch her over to my food) but i have not even attempted to change her food type yet because she isn't even eating her old food. She has started to eating small amounts of white rice, but not her dog food. Either way she still isn't eating much only small amount of rice (very small amounts). I am getting worried about her it's been the 2nd day that she hasn't ate anything but small amounts of white rice. How can i make her eat her food? or should i just switch her dog food from her old dog food to blue buffalo dog food? She does drink moderate amounts of water and pees normally she hasn't however pooped for one day, but that's probably because she isn't eating anything. Any suggestions or tips? Thanks! by the way today i just found out that she is not sick...she just doesn't want dog food at all....i know this because i was eating meat and she looked at me like saying give me some...i took her and gave her dog food and she refused...i then gave up after awhile and mixed some meat with her dog food and she ate some of her dog food and all of the meat/..... how can i fix this?! I am going to petsmart to buy gravy topping for her. I hope to god it works. Resolved Question: Proven studies that say corn is bad for dogs?
My parents have a senior golden retriever that eats Iams Healthy Naturals. Every week when my mother calls, she complains that the dog smells or is itchy, despite the fact that the dog does not have fleas. The dog was briefly on Wellness but went back to eating Iams because Wellness was too expensive. I've been trying to convince her to switch the dog back over to something better than the garbage he gets now- I've tried suggesting Blue Buffalo, Wellness, Natural Balance, Solid Gold, etc. But her response is always that the vet says Iams is better, and that she trusts what the vet has to say over my opinions- I suppose her reasoning is that the vet has more schooling in canine nutrition than I do! I feel that she would consider a better food if I showed her some clinical trials that say corn has no business being in dog food- but where can I find these? Please no crazy websites that state that you are poisoning your dog if you don't feed a raw diet, or weird articles about vaccines being the downfall of pets- thanks! Voting Question: Why does my dog have runny stools?
I have a 6 month old golden retriever. She was on nutro natural choice puppy food for large breed puppys. We gradually switched her over to blue buffalo large breed puppy food. I know the first week or so she might have runny stools. But its been a month now that she is completly on Blue buffalo. She still has runny stools. She will go out and have a normal stool then less than five minutes later she will have a runny one. Any advice? (more...)

Resolved Question: Am I over reacting? ?
This is really stupid, but I have nothing better to do.......... Anyways I had two options on what to do tonight and one was to go to a party with some of my old friends( they are sort of cocky and notoriously flaky, so thats why we dont hang out much) or hang out with my usual crew and make dry ice bombs and blow up pumpkins and stuff. So the more flaky friend was like " hey man I'm going to a party tonight in boulder if you want to come" and I was like, hold on I'll call you back when I get done buying a snowboard pass. So while im looking at snowboard clothes in the shop one of my close friends in my crew calls me and is like " hey man, wanna chill and blow up stuff with some dry ice bombs?" and I was "like yeah dude that sounds rad" . So I called my other friend and was like " yeah I think Im just going to stay in golden tonight" (I have work tomorrow anyways and going to this party would have most likely deminished my working abilities, which I explained to him) So I chilled with my other friend for a while untill he had to go pick up his girlfriend, and I texted my other friend and was like " word dog wanna chill In like an hour ?" and he was like "yeah dude go pick up some dry Ice" so I leave my friends house abut 45 minutes later and go buy a pound of dry ice which cost like 7 dollars and then call him and am like "hey what are you up to" and hes like " we're just looking at cds at the mall" ( which is about a mile from my house) and Im like " okay dude well call me when you are done and we'll kick it" So I go home and try to fix this new expensive music hardware I bought for my computer, which I spent about an hour and a half on and It still wasn't working right which put me in a pretty bad mood. Then I played some tony hawk for a while wondering when my friends were going to show up. After about 3 hours I was pretty pissed because I realized that what I thought was one of my best friends just blew me off after he told me he wanted to hang out, and after I already went to the store and bought dry ice, and he didn't even call me to tell me that they decided to just look at cds and then go home, when I could have gone to a party in boulder. So I texted him back and was like " dude wtf happened? at least tell me if you don't want to hang out" and he replies with " my bad things change" and that made me pretty mad( I was also In a bad mood because I was having girl problems as well) and I figured I could either not talk to him for a while, and talk crap behind his back to my other friends (its what my other friends do when they have stupid friendship problems) or I could just rail on him, and I decided that it was better to just tell him to his face what I thought about him (well In text message format at least) So I basically tell him that I chose to hang out with him and the crew instead of going to a party with my other flaky friends because I valued his freindship over the other kids, and that I was pissed because he didn't even tell me they decided not to come chill, and that I could have been actually doing something (going to a sweet party) on my day off, and that I didn't have to waste 7 dollars on dry ice, and that he was worse than the flaky friends( which is an insult because everyone knows how flaky these kids are) and that I didn't value him as a good friend anymore, because I knew that he was a "crappy"( wording was a little different) friend. So then he texts me back and is like, "whatever man you are over reacting its not a big deal " And I was angry for about 10 minutes and was "like yeah you are probably right dude, im just in a bad mood, but what you did was still really lame" and he was like "whatever man I dont need you freaking out on me chill out " Wow, that was pretty much an essay, you are a trooper for reading all of my lame friendship soap opera story,and I realize there are actual problems in the world that need solving, but im sitting at home on a friday night by myself and I have nothing better to do but whine about dumb friendship problems. Anyways I was wondering what some people with better judgement's non affiliated opinions were on this situation. Please answer some of these questions Do you think I was over reacting to say he was a crappy friend ? what would you have done in the situation? what the heck should I do with all of this dry Ice and this stupid pumpkin who would win in a fight, a water buffalo with num chucks or a yak with brass knuckles? Do you know the muffin man? should I pay my friends 10 year old girl neighbor 10 dollars to kick him in the shins while hes not looking because hes a flaky fool? Your opionions are greatly appreciated, thanks and by opionions I mean opinions. Resolved Question: golden retriever not really eating?
okay, my 1 year old dog doesnt really eat all the time... we'll give him food, and he just wont eat, sometimes for hours. usually though, i think it means he doesnt wanna eat cause he has to pee or poo so he probably thinks. why should i eat? i already have to go to the bathroom, and i dont know how long itll be till i go, so i dont wanna overload myself... and sometimes, he will eat after he goes to the bathroom. like this bowl of food has been sitting out for 2-3 hours, and now hes finally eating it. i feed him purina one, and trust me when i say... i KNOW this isnt GOOD food for him. i know of the GOOD brands. i just simply cant afford them...buying a big huge 30-40 pound bag for 30 bucks is a LOT cheaper than buying a quality food of 15 pounds for 30-40 bucks. i fed him blue buffalo (best thing i could find at petsmart) and he seemed to eat that a little bit better, but its just really pricey. is it the food? or is it cause of he has to go? or is it something more serious?
