Somewhere in Heaven: The Remarkable Love Story of Dana and Christopher Reeve
Somewhere in Heaven: The Remarkable Love Story of Dana and Christopher Reeve "Dana is my life force."

--Christopher Reeve

"A terrible thing happened. I wish it hadn't. But would I change who I married? Never."

--Dana Reeve

He was a hero in every sense of the word--the chiseled-from-granite star of four blockbuster Superman films and the romantic classic Somewhere in Time who, after being paralyzed in a freak horseback riding accident, became a symbol of hope for millions. Dana Reeve was no less heroic, standing steadfastly by her husband's side until his surprisingly sudden and unexpected death at age fifty-two. When Dana, a non-smoker, passed away from lung cancer just seventeen months after Chris's death, she left behind their thirteen-year-old son, Will, to be raised by friends and family. Dana was only forty-four years old.

That fate could have dealt such a cruel hand to this golden couple seemed unfathomable. That they could endure it all with grace, courage, and humor defied belief.

Yet for all the millions of words that have been written about their public causes and private struggles following Chris's accident, little is known about the lives they led as passionate young lovers. Now, in the manner of his poignant-yet-stirring bestsellers Jack and Jackie, Jackie After Jack, An Affair to Remember, The Day Diana Died, After Diana, and The Day John Died, No. l New York Times bestselling author Christopher Andersen draws on those who knew them best to examine in touching detail the Reeves' unique partnership and the romance, faith, and fortitude that defined it.

Sometimes heartbreaking, often uplifting, always compelling, Somewhere in Heaven is more than just a portrait of a marriage. It is the profoundly human story of two souls whose brief lives made a difference, a bittersweet saga of tragedy, triumph, and loss, and--above all else--a love story for the ages.

I Saw Heaven: A Remarkable Visit to the Spirit World
I Saw Heaven: A Remarkable Visit to the Spirit World On September 19, 1972, when Larry Tooley's scaffold fell and he plunged to the concrete floor below, one of the most remarkable near-death experiences ever recorded began. I Saw Heaven! is the complete account of his accident and his extensive tour beyond the veil.

As Larry's spirit left his body and journeyed upward, he passed through a foreboding fog and witnessed agonized souls in outer darkness. Then, drawn to a brilliant light and greeted by a being who emanated overwhelming love, he underwent a life review and experienced the stripping away of earthly impurities.

He entered a receiving station through a suspended arched doorway. His name was recorded, he was dressed in a white robe and was greeted by a deceased former acquaintance who was to be his guide on an extensive reacquaintance tour of the spirit world. They communicated through telepathisc speech and flew by thought projection from place to place together. He was re-taught concerning the powers he enjoyed before birth: of projecting thoughts, levitation, unassisted flight, and that all matter exists at varying levels of vibrational frequencies.

Larry was shown through a kingdom of beauty and order. He saw communities with buildings made from a marble-like material, surrounded by beautiful trees and landscaping. They visited a learning center where he was shown advanced ways of obtaining knowledge. They toured a genealogical research center where people were working to establish their relationships with their forefathers, and he was taught the importance of linking families together. A family reunion was held for him to acquaint himself with many of his relatives, ad he found that he could learn all about them by embracing them. He met his sister, Wendy, who had died shortly after her birth, and found her adorned in a brilliant white robe which reflected her advanced level of progression.

His guide led him to the outskirts of the heavenly city where God dwells, nestled at the base of a mountain. He saw from afar the immensity of the city with its beautiful domed spires. He felt the city's divinity and was told of the restrictions concerning who may enter it.

Larry was also shown other worlds and traveled among them. He was able to re-experience his conversation with his pre-mortal sweetheart just before their birth into mortality. One of his most intriguing encounters was with the council which eventually gave him permission to return to earth and resume his mortal life.

I Saw Heaven! is the true acocunt of one of the most imformative near-death experiences ever recorded. All who want to learn more of the next stage of their existence will be fascinated by the many insights and details it contains. It's a must-read book!

Resolved Question: Movie Title list please!!!?
I know some of you out there are real movie fans. So, I'd like you to give me a list of some great action movies. But there are things to follow: It must take place either in Medieval Time or in Antiquity (Rome- Greece) It must be an action movie or at least give great reason if you really think I have to see it. I'll give you the three most remarkable movies I saw according to these characteristics: -Troy -Gladiator -Kingdom of Heaven -300 I'm pretty sure I saw other great movies of same type, but can't pick the titles. Any help would be greatly appreciated. 10 pts to the best list. The interest is basically a historical one, but at the same time, it's there oyu will most likely find acceptable Heros; they had honor, respect and principles. This is what is lacking our society. If you insist to confirm your stupidity and watch only purely action bomb guns war movie without any sense, it's your choice. Just ot answer the dumbnut in first. Resolved Question: Truth be told, how many "virgin" births are there in history?
There are at least a few dozen instances of virgin births in history that I'm aware of, mostly of religious figures. Eighteen hundred years before Christ, we find carved on one of the walls of the great temple of Luxor a picture of the annunciation, conception and birth of King Amunothph III, an almost exact copy of the annunciation, conception and birth of the Christian God. Roman/Greek: Demeter and Persephone, Rhea and Zeus, Apollo In Egypt, virgin mother Isis begat Horus In Phrygia, Attis was born of the virgin Nama. A nymph bathing in a river in China is touched by a lotus plant, and the divine Fohi is born. In Siam, a wandering sunbeam caresses a girl in her teens, and the great and wonderful deliverer, Codom, is born. In the life of Buddha we read that he descended on his mother Maya, "in likeness as the heavenly queen, and entered her womb," and was born from her right side, to save the world." In Greece, the young god Apollo visits a fair maid of Athens, and a Plato is ushered into the world. From Greece comes the virgin birth of Adonis, who was resurrected after being killed by a wild boar. Adonis was revered by the Phoenicians as a dying-and-rising god, and Athenians held Adonia, a yearly festival representing his death and resurrection, in midsummer. From the Americas comes a remarkable story of the god-man Quetzalcoatl told by the Aztecs and Mayans. Not only did he have a virgin birth, but he was associated with the planet Venus, the morning star, as was Jesus. In addition, the religion built around him used the cross as a symbolic representation. Like the myths around Jesus, Quetzalcoatl said he would return to claim his earthly kingdom. Mithra was a Persian god who was also a virgin birth, but was more than just a tribal god. Mithra was born in a cave and had twelve companions. Mithra's birthday was also on December 25th. Both religions celebrate the resurrection at Easter. Much of what we know about Mithracism today came from the Christians. The prophet Zoroaster was also born of a virgin. Perseus and Hercules all experienced virgin births after being fathered by yet other gods. Horus, Mithra, Dionysus and Krishna were all born on December 25th., their births were announced by "stars", attended by 'wise men', involved humble birth locations, entailed the massacre of innocents and fleeing for safety from enemies, and so on and on. A Roman savior Quirrnus was born of a virgin. In Tibet, Indra was born of a virgin. He ascended into heaven after death. In India, the god Krishna was born of the virgin Devaki. Virgin births were claimed for many Egyptian pharaohs, Greek emperors and for Alexander the Great of Greece. For a discussion of several aspects of the Christian virgin-birth story, including speculation on origins. http://www.religioustolerance.org/virgin_b.htm Not only the idea of a virgin mother, but all the other miraculous events, such as the stable cradle, the guiding star, the massacre of the children, the flight to Egypt, and the resurrection and bodily ascension toward the clouds, have not only been borrowed, but are even scarcely altered in the New Testament story of Jesus. http://www.sonn.com/~perly/glk/files/Main_Files/B2-BibleB.txt Comparisons of the story of Jesus Christ to stories of other religious figures http://www.church-of-chaos.de/literature/general/truthjesus.html http://www.sonn.com/~perly/glk/files/Unsorted_Files/A427-JESUS_Myth.txt http://www.uc.summit.nj.uua.org/Sermons/BAB/951203.html http://www.crosscircle.com/CH_2m.htm http://members.aol.com/tjzee/iss174.htm A discussion of the virgin-birth story from a modern perspective Apparently virgin births were quite common up until the advancement of medicine and science. Resolved Question: I really want to believe but I need help?
I really don't want responses from atheists or agnostics. I know your views and understand them. But I would like to believe in Christianity. Believing in life after death would be comforting. A few things trip me up though. 1.Eternal Happiness - that's a real long time. longer than a billion years. a billion years squared by a billion years wouldn't even account for a second in an eternal amt of time. 2.I don't believe b/c i was created with a brain and given the ability to think. This logic is what allows us to survive. Throw logic away and it will hurt you in every way, except for religion for some reason. I'll burn in hell if I use the logic I was given, even if I live a better life than some that discard logic and just have faith. 3.Why does everything we can "prove" with science contradict the bible. 4.Adam & Eve ? Their kids mated with each other to populate the world ? 5.We can find dinosaur bones but not the ark ? 6.Something good happens then it's God's work but when something tragic happens, God works in mysterious ways ? 7.Out of all of the thousands of religions out there, what makes you think you are lucky enough to have chosen the correct one. It has to be luck b/c science will not back up any religion. 8.What's the difference between Christianity and any other cult ? 9.Not a cult ? Why not ? What's the difference ? 10.Worship?Does such a power really need to be worshipped? 11.Everything in the bible is really about being a good person. How come I can be a good person and go to hell for not believing but somebody else can be a bad person but get into heaven b/c they believe? Lets stop here b/c the list is really too long. But I would honestly love to believe that when my loved ones die that they are in a better place. I would love to think that when I die, there's something waiting for me on the other side. I would love to believe that when we all die, we will be reunited with our loved ones in a remarkable place full of love and joy for all eternity. Unfortunately, my brain tells me as much as I would like to believe that and it would be more comforting, it just doesn't add up. How do you get past these questions ? How do you get past these questions ? Each question, but mostly the last one ? (more...)

Resolved Question: Any sensible feedback on my poem welcome?
Here is the complete but as yet unedited poem I have written. Any relevant and sensible feedback welcome and remember, it is as yet unedited so this is only a rough first draft. Note: The 'Green' I mention refers to 'Fiddler's Green', an antiquated term for heaven. Thanks! ----Life Goes On ?Pereunt et Imputanter. The days pass and are reckoned to our account. Moments and ages roll by, an endless stream of time, a tide that cannot be fought against or hidden from. I age a little with every sunset although I cannot see it, and one morning I will look in the mirror and see a stranger staring back at me. I am not the same person I was yesterday, nor am I the same person I will be tomorrow. Everything changes, but some things never do. The moon will still be shining long after I am gone, and the sea will still flow. Behind my eyes dance the ghosts of a thousand star-lit nights, countless meals gathered round the family table, lazy afternoons and infinite moments when my heart was pounding with fear, loathing, terror, passion and anticipation. Through it all I have been human, a simple animal, but an animal capable of reasoned thought, remarkable feats of philosophy, inspiring works of art, boundless compassion and hatred. I know that this road, long as it may be, has an end, and it is a journey that I walk alone. Every stone I kick echoes in the void of eternity, every second spent pondering is set on the scales of my conscience. There is an angel on my shoulder, but God help the Beast in me. Soon my time will come. When it does, I will go without hesitation. I will had all my chances and what I have done will be written in stone. I will pass the world by, an Old Guard marching off of the parade ground to make way for the new. With me I will take so many memories, times of laughter and woe, times of heart-break and love. The lover I rebuked, the lover I walked through the forests with hand-in-hand. All of it will fade away with the sound of my marching steps as I make my way to the Green, perhaps to nothingness, perhaps to a new dawn. But I should not worry; the world will continue without me, the music of the party still ringing in my ears. It will on. Life goes on---- Note- typo, the penultimate line should read 'It will go on,' (more...)

Resolved Question: What will you thank God for tomorrow?
The Story of Squanto Most of us know the story of the first Thanksgiving?at least, we know the Pilgrim version. But how many of us know the Indian viewpoint? No, I?m not talking about some revisionist, p.c. version of history. I?m talking about the amazing story of the way God used an Indian named Squanto as a special instrument of His providence. Historical accounts of Squanto?s life vary, but historians believe that around 1608?more than a decade before the Pilgrims landed in the New World?a group of English traders, led by a Captain Hunt, sailed to what is today Plymouth, Massachusetts. When the trusting Wampanoag Indians came out to trade, Hunt took them prisoner, transported them to Spain, and sold them into slavery. But God had an amazing plan for one of the captured Indians?a boy named Squanto. Squanto was bought by a well-meaning Spanish monk, who treated him well and taught him the Christian faith. Squanto eventually made his way to England and worked in the stable of a man named John Slaney. Slaney sympathized with Squanto?s desire to return home, and he promised to put the Indian on the first vessel bound for America. It wasn?t until 1619?ten years after Squanto was first kidnapped?that a ship was found. Finally, after a decade of exile and heartbreak, Squanto was on his way home. But when he arrived in Massachusetts, more heartbreak awaited him. An epidemic had wiped out Squanto?s entire village. We can only imagine what must have gone through Squanto?s mind. Why had God allowed him to return home, against all odds, only to find his loved ones dead? A year later, the answer came. A shipload of English families arrived and settled on the very land once occupied by Squanto?s people. Squanto went to meet them, greeting the startled Pilgrims in English. According to the diary of Pilgrim Governor William Bradford, Squanto ?became a special instrument sent of God for [our] good . . . He showed [us] how to plant [our] corn, where to take fish and to procure other commodities . . . and was also [our] pilot to bring [us] to unknown places for [our] profit, and never left [us] till he died.? When Squanto lay dying of a fever, Bradford wrote that their Indian friend ?desir[ed] the Governor to pray for him, that he might go to the Englishmen?s God in heaven.? Squanto bequeathed his possessions to his English friends ?as remembrances of his love.? Who but God could so miraculously weave together the lives of a lonely Indian and a struggling band of Englishmen? It?s hard not to make comparisons with the biblical story of Joseph, who was also sold into slavery?and whom God likewise used as a special instrument for good. Squanto?s life story is remarkable, and our children and grandchildren need to learn about this important part of America's Christian heritage. Tell them about Squanto, the ?miracle sent from God??who changed the course of American history. http://www.alliance4lifemin.org/articles.php?id=118 (more...)

Resolved Question: Your comments on the following two thoughts ? Please no silly answers !!?
religions have put forward creationism as the answer to evolution. But in doing so, they make a claim that is both unscriptural and unbelievable. It is that the heavens, the earth, and everything on the earth were created by God in 6 days of 24 hours each?yes, in just 144 literal hours! This teaching has caused many to ridicule the Bible. But is a ?day? in the Bible always 24 hours in length? Genesis 2:4 speaks of ?the day that Jehovah God made earth and heaven.? This one day includes all six of the creative ?days? of Genesis chapter 1. According to Bible usage, a ?day? is simply a measured period of time. A ?day? with Jehovah can be a thousand years or several thousand years?as were the creative ?days.? On this point, therefore, the Bible account is reasonable and compatible with true science.?2 Peter 3:8. The Origin of Life How do advocates of evolution explain the actual origin of life? They say that some billions of years ago the ocean surrounding the earth may have become an ?organic soup,? though still lifeless. Then, they explain, ?a particularly remarkable molecule was formed by a most improbable accident.? Miraculously, this reproduced itself to form other molecules that clustered together to form a living cell. Could anything sound more fantastic? The writer who gave this description stated in his foreword: ?This book should be read almost as though it were science fiction.? Yes, fiction, but hardly science! National Geographic has said that the programmed instructions (DNA) in one tiny cell ?if written out, would fill a thousand 600-page books.? How ridiculous it is to say that the living cell created itself accidentally in some primeval soup! Far more reasonable and understandable is the explanation given by the Bible writer David, who wrote at Psalm 36, verses 5 and 9: ?O Jehovah, . . . with you is the source of life.? As advocates of truth, we must support that basic Bible teaching (more...)

Resolved Question: Please tell me some opinions of how you liked my story?
?Pack your bags and slap on some sunscreen! You?re going on a cruise!? I was abruptly shocked at the words coming out of my father?s mouth. ?Oh my gosh! Are you serious?? ?Yes, you deserved it this year with your fantastic grades!? ?Thanks Dad! You?re the best ever! But where are we going?? ?On the eleventh of July, you, along with your brother and cousins are departing from Detroit to Miami where you will board your cruise ship,? my father answered. ?Miami?here we come!? I said excitedly. The beautiful palm trees, the sun on my back, the crisp breeze, Miami was like heaven on earth. There were beautiful parks with vibrant flowers surrounding the gardens. It was so open and breathtaking. I was awestruck with the beauty of Miami?s greenery. We toured the city?s hot spots such as Miami South Beach and Miami?s Coral Castle. Finally, it was time to board the ship! If Miami was beautiful than the cruise ship was enthralling! As soon as we entered the ship in the evening, we were exposed to the vibrant lightings and grand size. Everywhere we looked there were a variety of luxuries to experience. From casinos to princess theatres of full scale Broadway shows, from spacious outdoor pools to a professional outdoor jogging track, twenty four hour bistros to relaxing days at the spa?all fit to a ship in the middle of the ocean! It was my dream come true! The ships destinations were not only Miami. The cruise ship sailed us to Grand Cayman Islands and the remarkable Jamaica! In Grand Cayman my favourite part was when we were at the beach and rode sea doo?s! The beach was mesmerizing with its pristine, turquoise water and white sandbar. There were many coral rocks of different shapes and sizes strewn across the beach. The sea doo ride was exhilarating! Water splashed in my face and the sensation was thrilling! The excitement and thrill of Grand Cayman was long over when we stepped onto the striking land of Jamaica! If I thought the sea doo was dangerous, than the climb up Jamaica?s Dunn River Falls was deadly. Dunn?s River Falls is located in a tropical forest and consists of a number of waterfalls which flow over rock terraces down to the Caribbean Sea below. We were able to climb the falls in a human chain led by skilled tour guides and we were fortunate enough to reach the top where we could enjoy unobstructed views of the surrounding areas. Besides the fact of its scenic beauty, the falls were really steep and slippery and major injuries could occur either because of the water pushing you off or just by the slip of a foot! Although, we were enjoying Jamaica, it was time for us to head back to the ship. When we reached the port, the captain was standing outside on the dock and he said to us, ?The ship has been delayed due to some certain circumstances so we have to stay in Jamaica for another day. We will be departing tomorrow morning at 7:30.? We decided to explore Jamaica some more, while we had the opportunity. The people of Jamaica have a laid-back personality and are always with a ready smile to help. They threw us all a feast, with dancing, games, and about 30 barbeques spitting and sizzling in a synchronized manner. We were able to engage in their culture, wonderful food, and nightlife on the beach. It was absolutely amazing. Alas, our trip had to come to an end, but it was definitely a worthwhile experience to undertake and I hope to go again soon! Please tell me opinions if you liked it. Boring...or interesting? Resolved Question: hey can anyone help my story, i want to submit it for online publication?
oh and is for a surfing website - surfline --------- Barrels are hard to find, they don?t pop in most corners of the earth you know. Which is why when I saw them all along a certain Mexican beach break - all peaky and square - adrenaline started pumping through my veins and my dopamine levels went through the roof. They looked promising, so smooth and elegant, a beautiful heaven which was my duty to insert myself into. Best part of all, I had no time restrains, my stay could be a day, week or month ? things were cheap and time was spares. Who would off thought the first surf spot in this road trip would be so good? It was true gold ? barrels and no crowds. Is there something better than this? And I got to tell you, after three remarkable days of driving ? from San Diego ? this was simply icing on the cake. Things however, did take a turn for the worst, and it may be fair to point out, nothing actually changed ? just my perception. After a couple good beat-downs and more than memorable wipeouts, a 10 foot, top to bottom barrel pretty much seized to be a noble-enticing friend. In my very first session, I realized it will toss you around and make you wish sand in your ears was your only problem. This was my first time at a place so consistently epic? and also deadly. Hence I admit I was crapping my pants pretty badly. ?Two people normally drown here each month - sometimes is three.? A local told me, as I was about to paddle out one morning. ?Great? I thought ?Just what I needed to hear? I suppose the local fishermen were to blame for the drowning, and not the surfers, but this place was evil which is what I intent to get across. Evil and perfect. And because of its perfection, we were out there every morning, which at the same time, we were keeping an eye on one and other? Although, in all reality, was kind of pointless cause? in the end, we all knew we were on our own. If you actually got clipped or caught inside, you swam for your life and hoped somebody up high liked you. But I had no time retrains and was determined to tame the beast and master my skills. So one board went by and another one soon followed? ?Put it together? I told the only repair man in town as I handed him my two pieces of foam. That was my last board so I had to sit that one out?. I remember I sat down all day under an umbrella; I was simply watching the waves explode over the shallow sandbars. There were few takers here and there, trying to channel the Pacific?s energy into what could be called some-what-pacific-energies. But few succeeded and the rest just made up for a great show. Upon watching for a while I did come to the conclusion there were many, many ways to mess up a perfect wave, catch a rail, a paddle short, a pump away? way too many to list really. Day 4: I gotten a couple good ones, my travel partners had also, swell was starting to get out of hand and we all had dramatically reduced our quivers. Awesome, now lets fast forward to day 7: ?There is absolutely no way in hell I am paddling out there!?? And I had to agree with my friend? 20 feet bombs were the plate of the day and to top it all, I could only count 6 guys out there, out of which, two were towing ? It was time for us to go. So we drove off and surfed some okay pointbreaks, partied in Acapulco and later on got some pits in Puerto. The trip then, went on to Guatemala and El Salvador. And to be honest, surf in general was good all around? but nothing ever came close to our first locale. And now something I told my friend resounds in my head ?This place is real good, but if this is the best surf we get in the 40 days we got, I?d be kind of pissed? ? Spoiled brat? -------------- thanks, and any advice or help is good. (more...)

Resolved Question: Is the idea of virgin birth a borrowed idea?
Some scholars say Isaiah borrowed the story from pagans, he might be expected to speak in the same way as the pagans. This is the view of "the scholar quoted", who notes a "remarkable" similarity of the Ugaritic and the Hebrew. It is also said[citation needed] that Isaiah may speak the same way as the pagans simply because he came from a similar sociological and semantic context, and that, if Isaiah's prophecy came directly from God, he had no tradition to conform to, and could have expanded the meaning to make it completely unambiguous, and accordingly it could be argued that his not making it unambiguous is a difficulty for certain interpretations of the text, though the ambiguity could be seen as being intended, if one supposes that God had a dual purpose for the text: to serve one function in Isaiah's time and another function later. Isaiah's prophecy departs from the Ugaritic version of the predicted birth by having the female human, whereas in the Ugaritic culture, the virgin was another deity, on par with the male, a departure that would in any case be necessary, since Judaism has only one deity, spoken of as male. Isaiah departs much further still from the Ugaritic story by not attributing the forthcoming birth to sexual union on the part of any deity, male or female.
