The American Experience: Hoover Dam, The Making of a Monument
The American Experience: Hoover Dam, The Making of a Monument An ambitious, hard-working engineer turns a ragtag army of unemployed into a celebrated work force to create one of the world's greatest engineering projects. Here lies the dramatic story. A colossus rising more than 700 feet above the Colorado River, the dam was constructed in the face of oppressive heat, choking dust and perilous heights. More than one hundred workers died during the construction that consumed giant buckets of concrete twenty-four hours a day for over two years. Witness this phenomenal story as part of The American Experience and see how this massive undertaking became a beacon of hope in dire times, bringing electricity and water to millions and forever transforming the West.

Open Question: What is the best terrorist plot?
I think if terrorist were smart they would 1They would spray gas pump handles with a harmful bacteria that would kill anyone it touches (how many people you think a day touch a gas pump handle?) 2 Instead of flying a plane in to the WTC they would hit major dams and power plants to disrupt and destroy a lot more than they did.(How much damage would that cost if they destroyed Hoover Dam?) 3 Have an agent go to America and have a child that is an American citizen to become president and fulfill their deeds.(Get a visa and just screw some girl at a university that is a typical American and have the child receive training at a Muslim school somewhere then fund them to get a political role and "climb the ladder") 4 Send a fake Science team to take temperatures all across the Antarctic but instead places X amount of explosives across the landscape to cause a major collapse of the ice then hold the world hostage. 5 Dress up in US military uniforms and attack Iran and cause WW3 That is the only ones I can think up but you can state your own if you have one better. This isn't meant to help them but come on don't you like to read stories about a all evil power trying to to destroy good? These are great ideas for a book to be written and I just want to see if anyone else can have enough imagination to think up something better. You actually think the FBI is going to waste their time to investigate this? (more...)

Resolved Question: Trip to Las Vegas in February - book ahead for entertainment or better discounts on the day?
Planning a weekend trip to Las Vegas in early February 2009. Got a great cheap deal for flights from Montana and 3 nights at an on-strip hotel for under $400 for two people. Neither of us are interested in gambling, we're coming to see the sights and a few shows. We'd like to see cirque du soleil and maybe one other show. Would also like to spend one day out at Hoover Dam/Grand Canyon. Trying to figure out if if it's better to book the trips ahead of time online, or wait until we get there and find discounted deals? Due to the time of year and the great deal we've already go on hotel/flights, I'm wondering what the odds are of anything being sold out? Also, how much is cab fare from the airport? Not sure if it's better to book a shuttle in advance for $14.50 per person.. Any other suggestions on what to do/see for non gamblers also appreciated! Free or for cost... Also, any suggestions for a good non-gambling bar/club to head to on Saturday evening? (more...)
