First Through Grand Canyon: the secret journals & letters of the 1869 crew who explored the Green & Colorado rivers
First Through Grand Canyon: the secret journals & letters of the 1869 crew who explored the Green & Colorado rivers In May of 1869, eleven men embarked on a journey of exploration and discovery. 98 days later six of them arrived 1000 miles away after navigating the Green and Colorado Rivers to the end of Grand Canyon. The journals and writings of the expedition leader, John Wesley Powell have been extensively published but here, for the first time, are the newly transcribed, unabridged journals and letters of some of the other members of the group. Author Ghiglieri has used his extensive river running experience to introduce the whole group and their exploits of courage and endurance.

The Class of '58 Writes a Book: A collection of original stories By the Class of 1958 Wheat Ridge High School Wheat Ridge, Colorado We were children who grew up in the 1940s and reached adulthood in the 1950s. They were wonderful times. As children we lay in our beds and dreamed of the joy, wonder and excitement to come in our lives...not realizing that we were already near them... Life is what happens to us when we are waiting for fame, fortune, happiness and success... We are all thousands of stories surrounded by friends and family... Stories are the way we vicariously participate in the secret lives of others...

Open Question: Can I mail a card overseas (Uganda) without going to the post office? And can I do so without a return address?
My problem is, the closest Post Office is 20 minutes away (I live in a remote area of Colorado) and I do not have transportation. In any case, I know that my postage rate would be 94 cents. So, can I just affix three 41 cent stamps to the envelope and ship it through my mailbox? I'm just mailing a birthday card that contains a letter inside it. Standard card-sized envelope that weighs less than an ounce. Also, will it be a problem if there is no return address? I will include my name, but do not want to include the address. Thanks! Voting Question: I wrote him this letter; what do you think?
I wrote this letter and now I am wondering if I should regret it. It says everything I want to say - that I want to give him space for a little bit, but I am looking forward to seeing him again. This is to my boyfriend of on and off 3 plus years. We currently live in different towns and our schedule doesn't make it so easy to see each other. Last weekend I blew up at him and I want to make some sort of amends. Hey, I keep thinking about last weekend, mostly because we haven't talked much since, and I guess I really haven't taken the time to explain why I acted the way I did. I had a terrible morning last Saturday and I ended up taking it out on you; an unknowing bystander and someone I really care about. As soon as I re-read what I had text to you I realized my mistake and the way I probably came off. I know I'm not perfect, but I am sorry. The thing is I really do appreciate your time - especially the time you set aside to be with me and its always been something I look forward to. You were trying to fit me in somewhere last weekend and I messed it up in a hurry. Whenever you tell me about everything that is going on in your life I try my best to put myself into your shoes; to both support and understand. I think I've changed a lot since first treading ground in Colorado. I have had a lot of time to reflect on myself and my actions. For a while there I wasn't exactly treating you the way that I would want to be treated myself. I also realize you might have Guard this weekend and aside from that I just want to give you some space for a little bit. I want to be a good part of your life, not a giant pain in the ***. :-p I will be going out of town Monday for a week - a sort of mini vactaion. Hope we can do something when I get back. <3 <3 XOXO Always, (my name) I realize every relationship is different and I can't begin to explain everything. I couldn't even to my sister. But, what do you think? Honest answers only please. (more...)

Resolved Question: The mortgage holder of this house is deceased, can the bank foreclose with quitclaim deed?
I live in Colorado and 2.5 years ago my grandmother bought a house and signed a quitclaim deed leaving it to me. When she died two years ago, we called the mortgage company and they told us we could keep making payments on the house. My husband recently lost his job and I had a baby, and because of this we've fallen behind on our payments and the lender is threatening foreclosure. But they keep sending letters and calling for my deceased grandmother. In Colo, with a quitclaim deed leaving the house to me, can they legally foreclose on the house or can we keep it even if payments are not made? I'm confused on "due on sale" clauses and liens and such issues. Please help me, especially if you're knowledgeable on these areas. Thanks! (more...)

Open Question: POLL: Stimulus package for all Americans?
...what do you think? Give each head of household $100,000.00 with the stipulation that a portion of that money must be used to purchase a new vehicle from "The Big Three". Any leftover cash could/may be used towards mortgage payments, health insurance, etc. If you do the math, the "bailout" money will be better spent in the hands of consumers, not corporations. After all, it IS our money in the first place-let US use it wisely. I've edited this 'letter to the editor' a little bit (to shorten it). Source: The Rocky Mountain News 12-30-08. Letter written by Tom Linn, Denver, Colorado. Makes perfect sense to me...What say you? (more...)

Resolved Question: Alma mater tattoo question (multiple schools attended/graduated)?
I attended a juco and recieved my bachelor's. I obtained my masters at a larger, different school, and I am working on my phd at the same school that I obtained my master's from. I was wondering, knowing it is my body and my decision, would you get a tattoo of both your undergrad and grad schools (mascots/logos)? I am a fan of tattoos that represent something about me or my life. I have a star with CA for california done in an ocean water blue wave design inside the letters. I was born and lived in California for awhile. I also want them of Hawaii and Colorado (I was an army brat to explain the different places). I like to get stuff that has meaning/tells a story or something about me, not just some random thing you pick off the wall in a shop. I was wondering what you thought just out of curiousity. I asked earlier and everyone said they wouldn't do the juco about 75% in the answers of what they thought about alma mater tattoos in general. What do you think? (more...)

Resolved Question: I'm 16 & visiting my girlfriend in Canada. What kind of papers do I need, other than a letter from parents?
I'm from Arizona and flying to Colorado, to Toronto. I heard about needing a letter granting permission from my parents, but I recently looked up something about specific "authorization papers" and something to prove my parents' relation to me. What do I really need? (more...)
