Open Question: Up there. A Story Made By Me. What do you think of it?
Not done yet. Please read it. Enjoy! Up There. In a world full of pain and sorrow, there once was a boy; an orphan he was. His parents were mysterious to him. That young boy lived with an old man, a man who had picked him up of pity. That young boy- poor and freezing lived with only one boot, ripped and scratched, and a coat, ragged and dirty. The young boy grumbled ?if only life was better? then he sat up from his laying stance, and cracked his way up to a stand. He felt his legs begin to tremble. He bent down to pick the bucket filled with water that he was suppose to send to his master, and he began to walk slowly, loosely he grabbed the bucket, but held it strong enough to support its weight. He could hear old newspaper crunch and garbage crash as it was kicked aside as he pushed his way through to garbage. He was in an alley heading toward to a destroyed old house. Bricks had tumbled from that house, mold grew, and spiders crawled like all spiders do at night. He walked past the road, with no fear of death, not a single droplet of sweat dripped down from his head. He reached the other side and found an old man wearing an old ragged coat staring at him. The boy glanced at the old man shyly and looked down toward the ground; he began to walk into the destroyed old house in front of him, while the old man followed behind him. They both sat at a table. The old man began to speak ?go fetch the wood from the oven, boy?. The boy got up and began to walk tiredly toward the oven, which was nothing but a pot over a fire. The boy finally came to a halt by the fire and he bent to pick up logs beside the stove, and began to bring it back toward the old man. He began to walk as his arms began to hurt, but he trudged along the wooden floor. He sat the logs on top of the old crooked table and watched the old man bring out his knife, and begin to carve into the wood. The old man stopped, and looked at the young boy, only to continue cutting his wood. The boy sat there, watching to old man cut right through the ridges roughly. He knew he was hungry, he knew since his stomach had been sending out a signal, a signal of hunger. ?Grrrumble? it went, every time it did that it sent out a wave of pain toward his head. He thought it was the slightest grumble, the grumble softer that whispers-yet stronger than death. The boy looked at the old man, looking for any hint of food. He found none. The old man suddenly began to speak while slicing though his wood ?there is some bread over in kitchen, you may have some?. The boy humbly spoke ?Thank You sir?. His thoughts filled with happiness, he had the tiniest smile, but still had a very happy feeling. He sprung out of his seat as fast as he could which was very slow, and remembered his last meal as he eagerly walked toward the kitchen. His last meal had been long ago, two days to be exact. The kitchen had always been rather small, but just big enough to be able to eat in. He saw the bread with delight; he grabbed it aggressively and ripped out a bite. He tried to chew as fast as he could since he knew it was the best taste he had felt in days. One bite is all he needed, suddenly his body renewed with energy but, it only lasted for so little. He had to take another, and he just continued chewing the bread, until he stared at his hands with nothing but tiny crumbs lay rested. His mind faded from a golden glow, to a dull grey. His smile reduced to a frown, and he felt depression. His energy increased when he walked though. He felt more of a hope to his walk, which made his feelings glow. He sat down next to the old man and was surprised by what he saw. Before him, that boy saw an amazing craftsmanship. Of a strange creature, with four legs- it looked like a dog but was bigger and flowing hair that ran down its neck. On top of what seems to be this creatures back was a man who had a strange looking hat and deep eyes. Even though it was a carving, with not color, he saw light. He turned to look at something else, and he began to think about the life before him, and the life after. He knew how poor his life was, but were there other people out there that are living with wealth? Do they live with pleasure and joy with everything around them? He began to think about wealth, and happiness, and all the joys in life. He couldn?t think of any that were reasonable. Life continued with this boy very much like the way he had it, but not much like it either. He began to wonder, his curiosity built up and finally, after a few months of waiting he could not hold it. He knew his master would be very easily irritated if he was to ask, but he could not hold the temptations. One day he was sitting at that same table the same one he sat in amazement. He began ?Master.? He cautiously spoke. He waited for a reply signifying his approval. ?Yes?? the old man finally spoke. ?Is, is there a better world ou At the end, the boy dies (sad :( ) but he makes a big diffrence. he makes their world like our world, and he his what some at his world might call gods helper. im planning on making a good ending next to a dramatic sadness to make the reader cry with joy :'D it got cutt off so heres the rest. ehhe... out there? You know. A life more pleasant?? he shyly spoke. The master was silent. After along silence with only the noise of the oven cooking stew, the master inched closer toward the boy and looked at the boy with death in his eye. ?You will not speak of this, or I will indeed hang you on that wall-? The master pointed at a wall old rusty chains hanging from it. ?I will make sure you will suffer a great deal before you die, do you understand?? The boy nodded hastily, and resumed to his food. He knew his master was always evil to him, but he knew he wasn?t that cruel. He thought about asking his master about the reason he was that cruel, but he had token too much pressure for now. He waited until nightfall, He had to ask. Sweat beaded down from his red faced head as he laid on the ground preparing to sleep. He eyed the door until he heard foot steps-faint slow foot steps. He knew it was his master, and he knew he had to ask. (more...)

Open Question: Getting a friend for my chinchilla?
Alright, so I have an 8 month old male chinchilla, Bryson. I got him from Petco basically cause I felt bad for him. He was sitting in a cage, all by himself curled up in a corner. I kept walking past and just felt really bad so I asked if I could see him and as soon as I put my hand in, he perked up and ran right to me, that was it and I had to get him. Spent $200 on a 4 level ferret cage and probably spent over $500 total on him that day. Haha he is now my "son" and I have the strongest bond with him haha. But I got a change in my work shift now so I wont have much time to be home and it kills me to have to leave him alone for so long, so I went out and bought him a little dog toy that kinda had chinchilla features. He LOVES it and will pick it up and carry it into his hammock or log house or just lay on it on a shelf haha. http://i3.photobucket.com/albums/y92/Britt32190/005-1.jpg http://i3.photobucket.com/albums/y92/Britt32190/006-1.jpg . I know it's not much, and I am seriously thinking about getting him a friend, but I don't know where to begin. Should I get male or female... If female, can chinchillas be spayed or neutered (I don't want little chinchillas)? How do I introduce them, and will he still have the same bond with me if I get him a friend? Thanks (more...)

Open Question: Are my Goldfish okay?
I have three (approx. 2-3 inch ea.)goldfish (had them since August) and two really small bottom feeders in a big 46gallon tank. It's clean, ammonia levels are fine and whatnot. They have lots of plants, logs and caves and such. Recently all three goldfish have smashed themselves into the corner of the tank and they rest their bellies on the ground without moving at all. I put food in the tank and they all rushed up and ate for a while so I thought they were fine but then they smashed themselves back into the corner again after a little while. Should I be worried about them? Is this just natural or should I do something? (more...)

Open Question: Is there any way to require users to change their password in Windows XP Home?
I know in Professional there's a little box you check and it does it for you, but is there any way to get around this and require users to change their password on next log on. Would it be possible to run a script at log on that opens the normal password change box? PLEASE do not tell me things like "This can't be done" or "Windows XP is for HOME users"- I already know that! (more...)

Resolved Question: What is wrong with my hermit crab?
I got a hermit crab for Christmas and well...here's the situation: At first she (I just call it a she, I really have no idea.) seemed to be doing okay but recently..not at all. -She never eats...I've never once seen her eat since I got her. -Starting about a day or so ago she keeps hanging like really far out of the shell...like almost all the way, really creepy. -My mom said that once when she was hanging out of the shell she saw her tail (she said it was white, I don't know what color they usually are.) she also said she saw something in the shell that looked like a little white worm. She wasn't sure but said it looked like it could have been part of the crab. -I've also seen small, thin things on her...but when I saw them they were like reddish and looked antenna-like (though not where her actual antennas are). -She's been spending the last day or so on her back. My tank's conditions are pretty decent. The temperature is usually between 70-75, I have deep enough sand, a log thing for them to hide under, food, 2 water dishes. The only thing I have trouble with is the humidity. I spray the tank occasionally and that helps for a little while but I can't get it to stay above like 60%. Also I have one other crab, he seems to be doing okay, not very active but he does eat and whatnot. Any ideas as to what's going on?? I'm pretty sure she's dying... (more...)

Open Question: Need help with system restore on laptop. PLEASE HELP?
I know this is kind of long but it's really important. I have three different problems. Okay so I just brought a brand new latop yesterday. A pink Acer Windows XP laptop. And today my mom was helping me remove the antivirus free trial that came with it because it was a really bad Antivirus that we have used before. Anyways we were installing a better one that she has been using on her computer and we ran into a few problems on the way & so she deleted something from my computer that wasn't supposed to be deleted and ever since then it's been acting strange. (BTW: me & my mom don't know much about computers.) First problem: When the computer is logging in it plays the windows logging in music but it sounds really scratchy But when I play music or anything else it sounds normal. It didn't do this before. Problem 2: After I log into the computer, the little startup bar on the bottom of the screen desktop turns black for a few seconds until all the icons have loaded. It didn't do it before but I'm not to much concerned about that. BUT my BIGGEST Problem: When I exit out of certain programs or when I click to "Shut Down" or restart the computer some weird message with a red X on the right of the message will pop up and it says something like this... "The Instruction at "05xxjde33" referenced memory at "03dhd383x4". The memory could not be "read". Click on OK to terminate". So I click on OK. But it will still pop up after I "Shut Down" or Restart the computer or open certain programs. Anyways I'm scared that she messed up my new computer.& I'm sad because I just got it yesterday & I don't know what to do. Is there some kind of restore thing I can do without restoring everything in my laptop? Or could I restore certain programs. Please I really need help. Anyways Thank you (more...)

Open Question: I can't log into Marapets!!!?
They have this Lost Password retrieval system where you have to email them to get your password. And with so much mail, it might take them weeks, or even months, to reply back. And I really need to get onto my account again, I've been playing for almost 3 years and this one little password change and it didn't work. Somebody offer some info or help, please? I remember the password, I just think I typed it wrong in the 'change' password place. and I don't want to create a new account, it's too hard to restart, 3 years worth of mp, items. =[ (more...)
