Open Question: Would you purchase a goose down or a 4 inch foam mattress pad?
I have a firm Chiropractic Mattress, which 3 years ago was great but now I just find it to firm and uncomfortable. I have heard some people rave about goose down but I don't want to soft or something that will be flatten in a few months. I have researched memory foam pads and it is recommended to purchase 4 inch because it maintains its shape longer.
Curious what the masses recommend.

Open Question: Anyone who has a memory foam mattress answer...how small a space could it squeeze through?
I have a weird living situation, space wise. I'm trying to get a new mattress. It has to fit through a small space to get to my room. If I got a memory foam mattress that was a double...about 54" x 70-something" (I think that's what most doubles are, right?) Could the 54" squish to 46"? I know there are different densities of foam, so let me know if you know that it would work with a certain density.
Also, I know they don't squish easily, but could it be done, and any ideas how?

Open Question: Am I sleeping wrong on my BRAND NEW memory foam mattress topper?
I just received my new 4" memory foam mattress topper via mail yesterday and last night I could not sleep!!! I was tossing and turning all night in addition to being up and down constantly. Am I sleeping on it wrong or is it just because its brand new? I am used to sleeping on hard mattress and I noticed when I woke up this morning my back still hurt (it does every morning). I thought the memory foam is supposed to stop the back from hurting.....What am I doing wrong???

Open Question: Memory foam not comfortable. Why?
Sorry this is a long question, but I gotta explain stuff first.
My wife and I recently purchased a 10" memory foam mattress. The salesman advised us that the thicker mattresses are firmer, the thinner ones softer. I have always like soft beds, she has always like firm beds. Because she is pregnant and our bed was causing her extreme pain and (ultimately) sleeplessness, we purchased the memory foam bed. Now I can't sleep, but that's ok because at least she is comfortable, and that is priority with the pregnancy. I feel like I'm laying on a board that "fits" me. I have always slept on my side my entire life, and now I can't because my shoulders hurt.
Why do my shoulders hurt?
Has this happened to anyone else?
How can I make myself more comfortable? Or will I just get used to the mattress?
"I'm a mathlete, not an athlete." As a result, I am very tall and lanky. So I guess it makes sense that when I lay, my body exerts fewer pounds/square inch against the mattress, so I don't sink into it very much. Could that be why I'm hurting?

Open Question: Do I need to use the pad that my memory foam topper came with?
question is pretty self-explanitory, but I bought a 2 inch memory foam matress topper that came with a white zipper pouch / pad. Do I need to keep my foam in this? I find it too hot to sleep, and I'd rather just put the foam directly on to of the matress, under the sheets.
